The morbid bastard in me has a fascination with the Cold War period, especially when it comes to the USA and USSR's nuclear arsenals, and subsequently the doctrine of deterrence and mutually-assured destruction. It's been an ongoing interest for the last five years, and I finally decided to buy The Day After to see what the big deal is. Nuclear war movie focusing on the aftermath, hence the title.
