Don't blame Bay for the script - that's Orci and Kurtzman's department. Hopefully he won't _mess_ with the script as much as he did with ROTF. As Ben Yee said, Bay's not a bad director for Transformers, but he really should just stick to his job as a director and let the writers do the writing.

Oiiiiii are you knocking the Muppets?

That's not cool, they've given us countless hours of well scripted entertainment, a veritable lost art by todays standards.

I certainly can't wait for the next Muppet Show movie, I hear that guy from "How I met your Mother" is scripting it.

But I'm getting way of topic, now back to getting upset about a movie that doesn't exsist yet.

I'm just happy that they are actually doing Transformers on the big screen

Hopefully they can go more than a trilogy, maybe a prequel series??

Robzy: I agree with what you say. As the director Bay is the leader and it is his Giri to take responsibility for the film, for all its successes and failures.

However what I was addressing were comments like these:

scene 5: more explosions and giggly body parts (remember to memo megan)

    Teh end!
...which make it sound like people are solely crediting/blaming Bay for the script, which is inaccurate. Sure, Bay should take responsibility for the questionable modifications he made to the script (I sure hope Orci and Kurtzman never wrote about Jetfire farting a parachute :/), but I think it's inaccurate to state or imply that he actually _writes_ the scripts in the first place.

It's more like he looks at the script and thinks, "Now where I can insert more explosions and lewd jokes?"

They were on board as writers for the first two movies. I just hope that Bay steps back and tries not to modify their script too much. He didn't mess around with the script for TF1 as much as he did with ROTF, so he tones himself down like he did with the first movie I'd be satisfied.

Great... well, the important part has been worked out - the release date... nevermind about that silly little pointless thing called a script!

    This is terrible news...

When will this pain end? I couldn't be less excited about a TF movie if I tried... and I'm a fan!

Well, that's kinda the point tho isn't it... I mean, on one hand you say don't blame Bay for the script, but he's the director... his little "additions" (such as Devastator's balls, for example) were his idea. And, IMO, these additions were what really made ROTF one of the worst films ever made.

So... who are we supposed to blame?

ROTF was a classic example of everybody passing the buck when it came to blame. In the end, Bay is the director and the buck HAS to stop with him!!! If it's a great film - he must get accolades. If it's a crap film - he must get criticism!!

You reminded me of this gem -

What if George Lucas directed Lord of the Rings?

The best bit (with relevance to this discussion) is between 1:20 and 1:45. Truthfully, the whole things is worth a look, and I'm actually a bit terrified at how many parallels there are between mock-Lucas (and real-Lucas too) and Bay.

When will this pain end? I couldn't be less excited about a TF movie if I tried... and I'm a fan!
Well, at least you can't be disappointed.

Actually the writers have said that Bay demanded a lot of changes to the original script written which include much of what is wrong with ROTF.

Example: Orci and Kurtzman wrote to include Sunstreaker and Sideswipe but Bay wanted his own creations instead - The retard twins.

Roberto Orci pushed for G.B. Blackrock to be included in the movie while he was writing the script but Bay said that the character sounded too cartoony - Seriously WTF???

Bay had full reign on ROTF and it shows - It's more Michael Bay than Transformers. In the first movie you still see the Bay factor in it but you also see more restrain and a bit of a Speilbergesque influence which is completely lacking from ROTF.
