Since the Straxus toy isn't a Gen1 toy, why not use another non-Gen1 toy (which is closer chronologically to Gen1) than Darkmount is anyway...

I've got this sitting around unopened. I'm not an MISB man at all but at this particular point in time I'm not very compelled to open it.
Should I wait until I'm in the mood or should I dash off to liberate it from its packaging now?
I'm really just here for the free food and open bar.
I prefer to use chronologically correct toys where possible. Since there's no such thing as a G1 Straxus, Darkmount will suffice.Originally Posted by griffin
I've made similar substitutions before such as:
+ Using Cybertron Unicron as "Unicron Acolytes"
+ Using Crossovers Iron Man as Avengers vs Transformers Iron Man
+ Using Armada Unicron as G1 Unicron
+ Cybertron Primus as G1 Primus (and a LOTR Nazgūl as the Keeper ;p)
It makes about as much sense as using Armada Unicron as G1 Unicron, or Cybertron Primus as G1 Primus.Originally Posted by kup
Besides, you and griffin have already posted Darkmount vs. Device Label and Action Master Blaster pics so not as much fun doing it again.
I say open. It's a pretty fun figure and he actually holds the axe surprisingly well considering he has finger articulation. The main drawback is, as Paulbot pointed out, the small guns which can get in the way - but they can be removed or repositioned to different locations. Another slight bummer during play is the "backpack" which is prone to disconnecting during rigorous handling. But I think it's a pretty awesome toy despite these fairly minor drawbacks (but it could be my G1 fanboy bias kicking in thereOriginally Posted by SharkyMcShark

Darkmount is a decent figure in my opinion, a cool-looking toy in both vehicle and robot form but my only complaints are those small weapons that hang onto his balljoints and easily fall-off during transformation and those red joints that connect his shoulders onto his trunk seem so fragile in my opinion but other than that, it's an awesome toy, would buy if cheap. Scores a 3.5/5 for me.
Mine don't fall off, but they kinda get in the way during both transformation and toy play.
God I luv this toy...he's just so bad ass!
As you can see...I was finally able too find a "spot" for those
extra weapons that came with Recon Ironhide...
Thanks for this one Hasbro...Nice work...
Now get too work on a Generations Impactor!

I just wonder how they manage to keep Straxus's head alive when they couldnt save OP in the movie, and their technology would have improve by heaps over the years...
Different continuity with different 'factors'.
In the comics, Shockwave was able to remove Prime's head and keep it active in order to extract the Matrix powers through it.
I guess that one could reason that you could gently 'undock' the head from the body without damage but an abrupt disconnection could be fatal.
