Same thing happened to me at Blacktown. Wouldn't scan as it was not in the system. When I asked why it was on the shelves without having a code in the system, the clerk was quite rude and said "an idiot out the back did something wrong". I told them it had a price tag that was specific to this line, and not just a copy from the other pegs (I also bought a Prime Vehicon).
Instead of checking, the clerk just told me that the item could not be sold. I told him that I knew that these items had been sold elsewhere even without the code and he told me that I was wrong, that there was no way the item had been sold anywhere else , rolled his eyes at me and walked away.
The poor register attendant was very apologetic afterwards, but it wasn't her fault he was so rude. Needless to say I'll be placing a complaint. He was incredibly rude and unhelpful, I'd understand if I hadve been rude or confrontational, but I was calm and polite.
Ever since they put the emphasis on customers doing all the register work, kmart's customer service has plummeted in my local area, and it was never great to begin with.
