You're right, it's padding.
It's clear the idea of collecting the 30 special toys was appealing to many people here, but the way they've gone about it seems wrong and has already alienated people.
Making it a global list, really does make it more elitist (as if only having some items only available at hard to get to conventions like SDCC wasn't bad enough).
Hasbro have only recently (with DOTM) started numbering their figures on the packaging, and I can't see any good reason to include toys from other markets in the numbering schemes.
Why not label Metroplex 1B or 1-JP or something to tell the Eastern version apart from the Western version? And then collectors could choose to get one or the other and still have the 30 different figures.
The whole concept is dumb anyway. If they were only releasing thirty toys this year it would make sense. Or if there was a specific theme to the thirty (like one from each year of Transformers plus the fans choice winner.) Since it's just a random selection of toys, there's no reason for anyone to give a crap.
I too am slightly pissed because I was keen to get each of the 30. Unlikely now considering the scalpers price for the convention exclusives. Seems I won't have to bother now and saving myself a huge chunk of cash not getting these.
Great work, Hasbro. You had such a fantastic opportunity to turn this into an amazing celebration of the brands rich 30 year history -just look at the plethora of characters that have kept kids and adults alike entertained all this time. Instead, you give us four convention exclusive figures from two moulds () and a Lego dragon. Thank you.
PS: What number will G1 Prime be? I missed the other 48 reissues.
I know I certainly don't.
If a toy happens to appeal to me and I have the opportunity to get it at an acceptable price, then I'll get it... otherwise I'll pass. So far the only one I've bought (and kept) has been Omega Supreme. And Plat Ed. Ultra Magnus isn't exactly flying off shelves either (I wouldn't say he's shelfwarming at all, he does seem to be selling very well, but certainly not as well as Omega Supreme who seems to have sold like hotcakes - possibly because Ultra Magnus is cross-competing w/ the Voyager).
Hmm... are they releasing MP acidstorm and soundwave in premium packaging different to the store release?
just saw this.... article
http://www.seibertron.com/transforme...release/27930/
so they numbering metroplex twice and soundwave lab twice...? wtf !!in the first 11
That just sad..... i don't think the marketing department even really care about this line or just plain lazy and then it was even approved to go ahead ...
