The yellow eyes is the best variation on the Hasbro version IMO since G1 Soundwave's eyes were originally yellow anyway! It was only the cartoon that had it red, but the original toy (and Microman toy) had a yellow visor, as did the G1 comics, story books etc etc etc. Soundwave had a yellow visor in the majority of G1 media.

Yes but for a lot of fans cartoon is king. Any variation away from it is seen as ruining it forever!!

That's true about the cartoon. I have a few friends that like the odd TF (Soundwave is a favourite along with Smokescreen) but were never interested in other associated media. To them, Soundwave's always had a red visor & Rumble is blue.

Thought Frenzy was blue, and rumble was red in cartoon?

The cartoon switched them over. Frenzy was red & Rumble was blue

Sure, and TakaraTOMY's version already caters for that. I think it's cool how Hasbro's differentiated their version and made it more every-other-G1 media accurate. They did the same thing w/ Rodimus too, although that toy was a cosmetically lazy execution of what was a good idea. Looks like Hasbro's done a better job this time around w/ Soundwave.

Sinnertwin is right. Frenzy is blue and Rumble is red in every original G1 media except the cartoon where it was switched. At least in the English language version. The Japanese version switched it back; hence why the blue/purple MP Cassette robot is called Frenzy and the red/black one is called Rumble. The whole colour confusion thing with Frenzy and Rumble has never existed in Japan (they have their own other silly unresolvable fan arguments that we don't have in the West though )
