Not really. They go hand in hand. We reproduce to ensure survival of our species because we are mortal. What would you do if you showed your son TFTM and explained that everyone dies and so he asks what happens when all the humans die? Do you tell him about sex and reproduction? Or do you make up some story because you want to shield him?

That is the best answer right there. Each parent knows what will work best for their child. Myself having an overly anxious, inquisitive, highly emotional ADHD child knew that the best way to deal the situation and Optimus Prime's death would be to reassure him that things will be ok.
