Really sorry! Christmas hat as a gift for you. Our shipping department may have forgotten to send the Transformers with you. I now give you a refund via paypal. Please check! And, we will re-send the Transformers to you. In the five days. After you receive the Transformers. You then pay to me. Is that OK? I really knew was wrong. So I want to implore you could help me modify the negative feedback? Waiting for your reply! Merry Christmas!

I'll admit the refund has come back to my account but I'll bet it is because I contacted Paypal and e-mailed them photos of the "Christmas hat". No f***ing way am I sending him any more money...
Just receive the same message, funny eh?

I get the feeling that it was probably just an unfortunate accident by someone else in their business, who boxed up the wrong items, or didn't know that a toy was to go into the boxes (if they saw a hat in each box and assumed it was ready to tape up and post).

A scammer wouldn't refund the money, and wouldn't still be on ebay selling hundreds of items, a year after they first started. And their completed sales in the last three months have been 447 items (sold, out of 660 listed - that'd be a lot of work to scam a dozen people out of $47 each).
The amount of items being sold by this dealer would need at least 2 or 3 people to run... perhaps it is even an ebay account set up by an existing toy store in China.

If they are refunding money, it's not a scam... and if they still send the toy, it's sounds like some expensive damage control over a mistake by one of their employees.
That was crossed my mind, but it almost impossible to believe that every shipment has the wrong item sent. At least they must be one right item sent or in other words is there a member here who received the real thing from many purchases made?
hey, how come a seller with 447 items sold only received 90 feed backs?

From my experience buying from the Chinese sellers, mostly they are just the middle man, when we ordered something then items were sent directly from the different suppliers.
Maybe the reason why he refund is that he didn't expect this accident would happened and also being scammed by his suppliers.

If that's what happened i pity him, but i still want my money back. If he really want to resend the item, then just send it with an express mail to make up the mistake, no need to ask my permission. sometimes it is better to lose money than your face.

A lot of people don't do the feedback, either they don't care, they don't remember, they don't have the time to log in and find the right one, or the one I hear most often - they don't want to be the first to leave feedback, in case they don't get it back. (I've bought hundreds of items, but only get feedback for about 10% of them)

Have you ever heard of other Chinese online sellers (Chimungmung, Robot Kingdom EhobbyBaseShop etc) sending out an item of clothing instead of a transformer collectible?

    Some other points:

They refused to send any more pics of the item,

There is no other feedback for Transformers items despite having many listings,

Buyers leaving positive feedback within minutes of winning an auction.

Their feedback jumped from about 97.6% to 99% in the space of about 1 or 2 weeks.

Just too many discrepancies for me...

No... never, which is why I only stick to sellers I can trust such as RK. I can't even remember the last time I bought a Transformer off eBay Collectors hunting down vintage pieces have little choice though.

If per chance they do end up sending you the right item, make sure you pay back through eBay, it may also be an elaborate plan to evade eBay's seller fees.

I am pretty sure that Technically eBay owns Paypal. The problem is they nearly have a monopoly on ways to pay through eBay as a result, the pro is there are multiple ways to get a resolution through them.

could be, but most of sellers/stores, especially new one, care most about feedback, they would go into a hassle by asking you to leave a good one since it effected to their reputation and reduced fee from ebay.
in this case, the sellers struggle to bump his rep in 1-2 weeks and even begging buyers to revise the negative feedbacks.

    in my opinion,
transformers is their first new field of sales, he might be has source of cheap goodies but not from their area, could be miles away so they can't check them properly. every shipment will be delivered straight from suppliers to buyers. maybe that's why they can't provide real pics, can't check the shipment since he also never receive products samples, but it's still a weak excuse at least that's the reason there is no feedback about transformers yet, until now, the suppliers f**ked up and sending santa hats, there goes the neg feedback.

bumping feedback is easy, ask your friend to buy from you, leave a good feedback, return the money to him, ebay fees is a small price for a nice feedback. but that's not acceptable

I typed the phrase "chinese ebay scam" in to Google and found some interesting results. Here is just one of many:

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1725234

Note the recurring theme - buyers are sent something cheap & nasty instead of what they actually paid for. That way the buyer cannot claim "Item not received" and would need to ship the item back. The scammer is hoping that most people would not be bothered paying to ship back a Christmas hat or hair clip etc.

It is very similar to what has happened here with ni_jay88.

This is a scam pure and simple.

Remember what I said about things being too good to be true? Stop trying to tell yourself that this isn't a scam. We got scammed. Accept it.
