nintendo is terrible for digital purchases and that is its biggest problem.

they always charge full retail for new games and their sales are terrible. they're basically doing everything different from Steam/Sony/MS digital wise and that's a lot of money lost as evident by the amount of money people spend on those sales and then never get around to playing.

    their storage is pitiful too.

i bought the wiiu premium for $200 during the dse clearance so it was a decent purchase.

If i buy digital i mostly buy it via the UK eShop. Sometimes the price is roughly the same, other times it can be nearly half what we pay here in Australia. There's some good deals sometimes in the Aus eShop, such as 75% off Batman games at the moment. $19 for Arkham City and Origins is a pretty good deal. But Nintendo do need to look at how MS and Sony run their digital games. Sony does it best with their PS Plus membership, 2 or so games free every month.

Yeah we got ourselves a Wii U Mario Kart 8 bundle from Big W over the weekend due to the staff day. And we went to JB to get ourselves a 1080p 32" to call our own. Also downloaded me some Wind Waker with the free code deal. Many months ago, I bought TF Prime The Game and Mass Effect 3 because they were cheap and it as motivation to buy the Wii U, which I planned on getting anyway before SSB4 came out.

    Its awesome. So pretty.

As stated before, the controller isn't heavy and cumbersome, it's nicely weighted and easy to get to. I have found myself getting cramps in my right hand if things get intense in MK8 ha

    Bring on SSB4 I say

Aha no, if only that could work. I had a 100 gift card for JB from christmas, and we used the 10% day at big w to get the console bundle.

That Nintendo shop is awful. Horrible to navigate and very limited in choices, so few indie games too. I have no idea why all the games that were available on the wii version of the store weren't transferred over to the wiiu version. The wii game pad would make 64 and cube games easier to play.

While I like that they have finally combined the eshop, I hate that I've lost the downloads I made on my original 3ds when the store upgraded and the purchase made on the wii. I know I Can transfer data from the wii with some games and save Data, but I'd prefer to just re download them.

Shokwave, does the uk store require a certain uk credit card or such and do you have to sign out of the. Au region or something? Really want excitebots trick racing from wii if it gets to the wiiu store.

No just make a separate profile and and put your country as United Kingdom. Aussie credit cards work. The only thing is when you swap back to your normal profile, you have to go into settings and change your country back to Australia to get your internet connection to work. And vice versa for when you switch to your UK profile to shop on the eShop. Easy peasy.

I recently bought a super cheap Wii-U. As probably all owners know by now, the Wii-U does not have an Optical out for Audio and is purely HDMI. Well that's not really a problem for surround sound one would think but for some god damn reason, Nintendo decided not to have Dolby or DTS like it's competitors and it only outputs on raw 7.1 LPCM that only some of the newest A/V receivers support!

I didn't do my full research as I thought Nintendo would have at least Dolby Prologic support as they did for the Wii. Unfortunately I went as far as buying a $75 HDMI to Optical splitter so I could plug the audio portion in to my receiver for surround only to find out about the above LPCM 7.1 only too late.

How very frustrating and retarded decision that was. This can be solved by Software but I am doubtful Nintendo would as it requires a license despite the precedence with the Wii.

Nice one Nintendo, you made it so that only people with the most expensive higher end setups can enjoy surround sound.

There is a setting to change the audio output to non hdmi, It's what I use to channel audio to my Logitech speakers.
