Alternators Rumble arrived from the USA today - I now have at least one version of every Alternator mold! Woo!

Oh and just to mix it up a bit, here's a slightly different "acquisitions picture:"

    SO EXCITED!

And yeah... they do look expensive. I saw one site selling 946mL of chrome paint for AU$643.50 (excluding GST)! Furthermore, from what I can see here chrome paints are only available in spray form which would require buying an air-brush and/or spray gun. Not worth it considering that you can get a Japanese reissue on e-Bay for US$95 (even with the crummy state of the AUD). A shiny silver paint would be a cheaper and easier option IMO.
I must check Dad's automotive paint tins outside tomorrow when it's light - I could swear that I saw a spray can of chrome paint, with the lid of the can that was chrome in style which indicated what the paint was meant to look like when dry. I don't think it was as expensive as you say, although it's probably not top quality.

Back in the day I think I also remember reading a 'do-it-yourself-chrome' tutorial for model parts, where you give the parts you want to make chrome multiple baths in various tubs of probably harmful chemicals.

Chrome spray paint is readily available here (except to under 18's) at around the same cost as any normal colour.

Ahh not off the top of my head mate. Head into an Autobarn or a hardware store or send a PM to lcz to ask his method of 'chroming' parts.
