    Not sure...

The foam insert suggests to me that it may be original...

    Agreed. Other clues:
    (1) Lacking the gold sticker from the Takara reissue.
    (2) The Takara logo on the box is a much older version, not the newer version used during the reissue, which was still a few years before the merge with Tomy.
    (3) Fists are still attached on the plastic "tree".

It's also stated in the item description in massive red text:
    "VINTAGE TAKARA
    G1 TRANSFORMERS AUTOBOT
    ULTRA MAGNUS
    Hasbro Japan robot
    (NO REISSUE VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!)"

And yeah, that's an original Japanese G1 Magnus. You can also tell from the old Takara logo on the bottom right corner too. Reissue Magnus has the newer Takara logo (used by Takara before the merger with TOMY). Reissues also use clear plastic trays, not foam ones. And the foam is worn/aged which wouldn't happen with a recently manufactured figure.

Here's what the original Japanese G1 Magnus box looks like:

And here's what the reissue Magnus box looks like:

    The tell-tale signs are:
1/ Lack of black & gold 15th Anniversary sticker on window
2/ Different Takara logo on bottom right corner
3/ White foam tray vs clear plastic tray

I think the point is, that you can never trust ebay auction descriptions, and he just wanted actual proof/verification of which one it was.

Probably, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable as I'm not sure how much demand there is for a toy like that from collectors.

    Hey guys,

Ever since I went to Singapore and spotted a TF that I owned as a kid but only remembered it after I saw it. I've been wondering what it is.

Unfortunately I don't remember much details about it, except to say that its a spaceship, I don't think it transformed to a robot and I think it might have been a base? I know, I know its not much details at all But hit me up with some knowledge if possible

Oh and I probably would have had this toy between 1989 to 1990

how large is it roughly? in height

if it doesn't transform its likely to be an Action master Transformer

Transformers that don't transform, but they do come with weapon partners or vehicles they can ride in.

This site is pretty good, just scroll down to the 90s and see if its one of them.
