I'd be surprised if Metroplex sells out any time soon, but I did warn Hasbro Australia that this very expensive toy is not an iconic character or alt-mode, but I don't think it was early enough for them to cut back on the units coming into the country.
Also, keep in mind that Predaking (the titan for 2018) sold out very quickly, so it never hung around long enough to go on sale (I was wanting a second, cheaper one to have the combiner with the individual bots, but never got the chance).

Speaking of, there are separate listings for them as sold by Amazon US global marketplace, at approximately $80 each

Following up on this, I didn't realise they had a Buy 2 Save 6% offer on them, of which they are both compatible. All up, is about $10-15 more, but with a likely shipping date of immediately instead of AU stock's musical chairs release schedule.

I was charged $39.99 overnight by Amazon - looking at my orders, it would seem to be SS86 Arcee (the only one I can no longer edit or view the order for).

Is Metroplex expected at any of the major retailers? or am I gonna have to bite the bullet and order it from Amazon? (or wait for a price drop on amazon and hope it doesn't sell out before then)

Well, it's already been spotted at toy shops (can't recall if it was Toymate or Toyworld, or both).

Metroplex is apparently listed in the BigW system... but that's not a guarantee that they end up buying it from Hasbro.

It is worth noting that the Major chain retailers (Kmart, Target, BigW) haven't stocked Titan class toys since 2017 with Trypticon at BigW for their mid-year toy sale.
Kmart has never had Titans, and Target only ever had the 2013 GEN1 Metroplex. Then from 2015 to 2017 (Devastator, Fort Max, Trypticon) BigW was the only major retailer to sell Titans, and from Predaking (2018) onwards the Titans have only been at dedicated toy stores (Toyworld, Toymate), Myer and Amazon.
EB/Zing had Legacy Metroplex listed, and it was found at Toyworld so far, so it will just come down to which retailer is most likely to have it on sale or discounted first.

Yeah, I had seen Metroplex at Toyworld. was tempted to buy it.
I'm mostly hoping it'd show up at Big W in the hopes it may be slightly cheaper there (or given an introductory sale price or something in a toy sale)
but since I don't normally buy Titans I wasn't sure if they even stocked them at the major retailers. so figured I'd ask.
guess for now I will just wait to see if it shows up at Big W after all. but also keep an eye on Amazon/ other online retailers that might put it on sale/clearance eventually if it doesn't sell.

And Big W also stocked Commander Class such as Sky Lynx and Rodimus, which they always first release during a massive toy sale.
