Try BigW - I was at the store in Brisbane CBD on Friday, and thought they didn't have anything new, but went wandering around the store and found in one of the main walkways, a cardboard merch display stand with over a dozen alcoves containing small SW and TF figures. The promo stand was definitely something from Hasbro, with some tag line on it saying something like 'Ideal small/cheap toys for Christmas'. With all of the figures in it being under $15 each, it had Robot Heroes(the new six), Activators (up to Thundercracker, patrol BB), Bumper Battlers(up to Nightwatch Op, Stingracer BB), and SW Clone Wars single figure packs.
Definitely something to look for at BigW, as they have a lot of walkway merch displays throughout their stores, and this could be located anywhere. It could even show up at Kmart and Target as well, but I have only seen it at BigW so far. I didn't have my phone with me, so wasn't able to take a photo of it either, to show others what to look for.
Onto the stuff I got on Friday.
Found (as per the story above) at BigW, 5 of the new 6 Robot Heroes packs (missing Arcee/Rumble pack, which I really need right now), and Bumper Battlers Nightwatch Optimus (the unwanted offspring of Actionmasters Thundercracker and Take-Off...) and Sting Racer Bumblebee.
From David Jones CBD, I bought the Bath set that I saw in Adelaide (I'd totally forgotten about wanting to get it when I returned). It has inside the Case, an Autobot Symbol sponge, and a bottle of bubble-bath.
And from the post office, the rarer white variant Transmetal 2 Dinobot. It was so low on my priority list, that it wasn't even on my checklist... but when I stumbled across one on ebay about a week ago, I put in the minimum bid and won it. This figure is like the Transmetal 2 Prowl (owl), in that it was done in two colour schemes, for no reason I know of (maybe they were an unofficial store exclusive). I don't think we even got the rarer colour schemes in Australia (the white Dinobot and black Prowl), and I was only really interested in the black Prowl because it was a significant redeco. From a distance, or on its own, the two Dinobots look very similar. Next to each other, you can see that the rarer one is pure white, compared to a creamy, off-white of the regular one. And the rarer one has a much brighter blue plastic, compared to the very dark blue on the regular one. I'll be posting up some comparison photos later to show what I mean. Anyway, this figure should *now* definitely complete my Beast Wars collection, as there aren't any other mass-released or store exclusives that I don't (think I) have.
The other package I picked up from the post office on Friday was the most exciting acquisition of the day. From a dealer in Japan, the complete set of Boss Coffee figurines and Microns - a total of 15 figures. I was only ever interested in the two (transforming) Micron figures from the set, and was looking at US$10 for each of them, everywhere on ebay. Then I came across this JP listing which had the entire set for US$25, and I though, for an extra $5 I'm getting 12 figurines... why the heck not?!
And shipping only cost US$18 as well because it wasn't from America. Double excellent.
I'm so glad I got the set though, because the 'pearly gold' trio are not just recolours of the coloured figurines, as I thought they were. And the coloured figures might be small, but most look really nice. Especially Shockwave! It looks so cartoon accurate... I'm really wanting to see a MP Shockwave done, just so that we have a 'full size' robot mode Shockwave toy that looks this good.
The colours on some others aren't good though, like Soundwave and Jazz... but for $5 extra, who cares!?
(In the photo below, the red, blue and purple things the Microns are standing on, are the 'bonus caps' on the Boss Coffe tins(?) which each figure was packaged in - red for the Autobot figurines, purple for the Decepticon figurines, and purple for the Microns and the larger golden figurines)
