Well the plural of gluteus maximus (heh) is glutei maximi, so that would make the English plural for maximus "maximi." Not sure about those others.

I think it might depend on whether the "name" is actually a name or a title. Since Magnus has been shown to be a title (rather than a 'surname') in Animated, it would make more sense that its pluralisation could be irregular. On the other hand, Agatha is a Latin name that is still used today. It would be odd to refer to a room of people called Agatha as "a room of Agathae" rather than "a room of Agathas". So maybe it would depend on whether Optimus, Pax, Maximus and Primus are names or titles.
Overall they appear to be names. We know that "Prime" is a title... Ultra Magnus is more ambiguous though. In Animated "Ultra" is definitely a title. But in Car Robot we have God Magnus which kinda suggests "Magnus" as a title, at least in Japanese continuity. Of course, most Japanese nouns have no plural (hence why "Transformers" is actually called "Transformer" (toransufoomaa) in Japanese).
Is it? As I said, Magnus is a title, but I didn't know Ultra was. Recently... somewhere... maybe in a comic, I can't remember. Ultra Magnus said to Sentinel Prime that if he did something or other (maybe if he was more like Optimus?) then one day he could be Magnus. So presumably the ranking system goes Minor - Prime - (maybe something between) - Magnus. If Ultra is a title then it would be like being called "Captain General".
He is the very model of a modern Major General.

"Time" is a title (as in Time Warrior)![]()

You're right. The exact quote is: "Excellent thinking, Sentinel Prime. It's that kind of initiative that will lead you to become a fine Magnus someday."Originally Posted by Sky Shadow
Also, it appears that the plural for Optimus in Transformers is "Optimuses" - as demonstrated when Beast Wars Megatron said, "Oh, you Optimuses do love to sacrifice yourselves, don't you?"
