evidently y i would think paying less than that for something in much better condition would be a semi decent idea. That guy is getting a pretty consistant price (minus the missing flap anomaly) from what i've seen over the last few months on the really nice ones. it may also be a sign on the movie once again having an effect

Or is it actually the best time? This is only the beginning of the mainstream trailer releases and the movie hasn't hit yet. when it does, IMO, prices on optimus prime are gonna go sky high and its not going to slow for some time.

so perhaps this is really the last chance for a while.

The first movie suckered me back into collecting. And with the success of the first movie reaching a wider audience its hard to ignore the impact of the second movie.

I still say not a good time, but that said I believe alot of people are paying higher than normal prices because
A: They believe that anything TF wise they buy now they is going to increase in value.
OR
B: They have no clue as to actual values and have to much money to spend. (Sellers Dream)

I definitely agree that now is not the time to guy really mainstream G1 but a seriously minty G1 OP is a dream of mine and there are simply too many really nice ones on ebay (that are real) to ignore it.

i know they will always come around but i have a really nice display layout in my head for my new place and he is certainly a requirement to pull it off.

also need to get my hands on a super minty MIB G1 megs too

I also wanna get a mib G1 prime to go with my minty boxed g1 megs, but I just can't bring myself to to it. The only place I trust in buying one is transformerland, but the asking prices are too high for me.

I have no idea what the bidders are thinking. (omega) - You can never tell with ebay aus bidders. In my experience, aussie ebayers are reluctant to "buy it now" on say a $200 misb item, but a week later they'll bid $230+ on an auction for the same item from a different seller. I've seen this so many times, not to mention crazy bids on items such as G1 Primes or series 3 G1's. What are they thinking? Or is just the odd new ebayer that alters the trend?
