No mac recommends? A bit pricier/out of the price range but they're good in my experience.

It *is* true, and a seasoned pro can even visit porn sites still!

Sure; if you avoid Porn sites you're certainly going to have a reduced chance of infection, it doesn't mean however that one definitely wont as Porn sites aren't the sole avenue of infection.
I do agree however that a 'Seasoned Pro' can still visit adult sites and not be infected though.

All the die hard porn addicts buy Mac's. Less chance of contracting a virtually transmitted disease.

These days you can buy a decent laptop for under $600 with enough memory, hard drive space, graphic and processing power to cover all your needs. You only need to spend more than that if you will be using your laptop for movie editing or hardcore gaming.
I guess you were lucky. I didnt say they were BAD laptops, not at all. Its just that in my PC fixing experience for more the 10yrs, Ive seen more Toshiba ones then anything else.

As for this virus debate, I can agree with both sides. I use to use Trend Micro's Internet Security software (Good suggestion Hursticon) but stopped after an upgrade to Win 7 and haven't installed anything on my PC other them Malwarebytes and I use Windows Defender and I've been clean for years. If you clean out your PC regularly you will be fine. And I think the use of PORN sites, if thats your thing, will give you a virus is a myth. You just need to go to the good ones and never install anything that you are unsure of. LOL!
Oh and if your a pirate you can easily obtain Office for nothing.

    VGM out...

That Microsoft one you mention I actually have put to use on my DOS/WIN Gaming rig, had never used/heard of it until doing the regular update routine and figured I'd give it a go; it's not all too bad really, has all the basic functions you'd expect in an Antivirus/malware program and as it's MS and free I trust it a little more than other free packages.

I'd of whacked Trend Micro on but I've used all 3 slots it makes available for other PCs.

I'd recommend a purchased package over a free one any day of the week, but I will agree with you man so far as to say that; something is most certainly better than nothing.
True, all depeneds on your budget.

Your father-in-law sounds like a wise man. Love their monitors though, I want one of these sooo badly.
