Default US Toyfair 2010 Transformers Wrap-up.

(Still yet to post up pics from the AUS Toyfair - but wanted to finish this first. I compiled this in the week before our Toyfair, so I'd know what to expect, and what to look out for that the Americans didn't have displayed at theirs.)

On around February 12-14 in New York was this year's US Toyfair.

Details of the Transformers toys featured, was colated from the following sources:
    http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/toy-fair-38/
    http://www.tformers.com/toy-fair-201...3051/news.html
    http://www.seibertron.com/news/index...yword=toy+fair
    http://www.seibertron.com/events/event.php?event_id=124
(plus some details from the AUS toyfair, if something was unclear from the US reports)

First half of 2010 - red packed Movie line continues.
Second half of 2010 - yellow packed Movie line, plus Powercore Combiners, and Generations. (August in America, Jun/Jul in Australia)

    Red Packed Movie line.
'NEST Global Alliance' and Mailaway promo will continue until August in America - Recon Ravage is a 'prototype' for a new chrome plating method they hope to use more in the future.
Nothing displayed was specifically featured as 'Red packaged', as various Movie toys were being promoted in new Yellow packaging for the retailers (the usual - must keep the line fresh, marketing strategy). A number of the items displayed/mentioned below may still end up being released in Red packaging before the change-over to Yellow Packaging mid-year.

    Yellow Packed (Movie Universe) line.
'Hunt for the Decepticons' will begin in America in August, with selected packages (only the regular toys, not the gimmick toys) having special access codes to an online game at the Hasbro website.

Speed Stars - new name for RPMs, covering 'Action Fleet', 'Lights and Sounds', 'Battle Chargers' and 'Stealth Force'
Grey packaging - not part of 'Hunt for Decepticons', so won't be in same colour packaging as the main line like RPMs were.
Packaging style and name will be used by both Transformers and Star Wars.

Different type of launcher, with the vehicle fired at a break-apart Megatron.

Action Fleet - new name for Minivehicles.
(variety of figures displayed, including 2 redecos of Bumblebee, 2 redecos of Ironhide, 3 redecos of Barricade, 3 redecos of Sideswipe, redeco of Optimus, and new Jetfire, and Soundwave)

Also displayed were ones with big wheels to allow them to roll in both 'modes' (Bumblebee and Drift), and ones which appear to convert.

    Stealth Force
Vehicles that convert into attack modes, but no robot mode.
Three sizes - small (manual conversion), medium (auto conversion in one direction), large (electronics lights and sounds and auto converts both ways).

Small - (movie) Bumblebee, (universe/Gen1) Hound, (Animated) Soundwave, (movie) Sideswipe.
Medium - (movie) Megatron, (movie) Gears(?).
    Big - Optimus Prime.

    Powercore Combiners.
A new, small sub-line, that doesn't yet appear to have any supporting media planned, to help market it.
The line centres around 'Commander' figures, packed in either a 2-pack with a 'Minicon', or a 5-pack with 4 'Drones'.
Only 6 sets planned for wave 1 and 4 sets for wave 2.
2-packs are US$10 (old price of Deluxe class), 5-packs are US$20 (current price of voyagers).

    Commander figures.
    - About Scout sized.
    - Have 3 modes. A robot mode, a vehicle mode, and a Powerup mode (becomes the core figure of a combiner).
    - Each has universal fist holes (for Minicons) and limb posts on the arms and legs (for Drones) to form a combiner (the Powerup mode).
    - Each has a second head for the Powerup Combined mode, and very minimal transformation to become the core figure.

    Minicons.
    - About Legends size.
    - All appear to be made mostly of transparent plastic.
    - Don't have vehicle modes.
    - They have 4 modes. A robot mode and three different weapons modes (one for the Commander's vehicle mode, one for the Commander's robot mode, one for the Commander's Powerup mode). (that last mode is conjectural, as details are sketchy on what that mode is or does)
    (similar concept to Targetmasters)
    - Have their own names and are sentient.

    Drones.
    - About Legends size.
    - Don't have robot modes.
    - They have 2 modes. A vehicle mode and a Powerup Limb mode. They are just limb attachments to the Commander figures.
(similar concept to the Drones for Energon Optimus)
    - No individual names. Probably not even sentient, so not sure who controls them if different Commanders can use them.

    2-packs
    wave 1
Searchlight (blue helicopter) w/ Backwind (green) - Autobot
Huffer (yellow truck) w/ Caliburst (blue) - Autobot
Smolder (red fire rescue) w/ Chopster (orange) - Decepticon
Sledge (yellow excavator) w/ Throttler (purple) - Decepticon
    wave 2
Leadfoot (orange dragster) w/ Pinpoint (yellow) - Autobot
Icepick (grey armed plough) w/ Chainclaw (green) - Decepticon

    5-packs

    wave 2
Doubleclutch (grey car) w/ Rallybots (4 race cars) - Autobot
Mudslinger (green monster truck) w/ Destructicons (4 monster trucks) - Decepticon

    Generations.
All Deluxe class (at least to begin with).
    Small sub-line for non-movie characters.

    wave 1
    Drift - Autobot car (new)
Cybertronian Bumblebee - Autobot car (new)
Cybertronian Optimus - Autobot truck (new)
    Thrust - Decepticon jet (remould)
    wave 2
Darkmount - Decepticon tank/artillery gun (new)
Cybertronian Megatron - Decepticon 'flying cannon' (new)

    Star Wars Transformers.
Continues throughout the year, but only 2 new figures displayed (so might be a lot of repacks and redecos this year).

Captain Rex/Freeco Bike (new) - August
    Yoda/Attack Shuttle (new) - August

    Marvel Transformers.
Also seems to be padding out the year with redecos and repacks, but still producing new figures and should see up to about wave 7 by the end of the year (we still only have wave 2 in Australia).

    Basic
    Ironman/sportscar - new
    Ghost Rider/motorbike - new
    X-Force Wolverine/offroad - black redeco
    Spiderman/sportscar - black redeco

    Deluxe
    Ironman/motorcycle + War Machine/armoured vehicle - new 2-pack

    US Store Exclusives.
Masterpiece Grimlock (with crown) - ToysRUs
(Gen1) Autobot Blaster w/ Steeljaw, Ramhorn, Eject - SDCC
Unknown Mighty Mugg redeco - SDCC

(That should cover most of the toys we can expect from Hasbro this year, so put together your personal checklists, and start budgetting)

    ...start budgeting
If those five pack Powercore combiners end up at AUS Voyager price here ($50 for a scout and four non TFing drones) there's no way I'm buying them. In fact I'm feeling I'm gonna have a light year of purchases all up.

That's why I took note of the price and posted it, to give an idea of what we could expect here.
If only Robotkingdom didn't over-inflate their 'new' items lately, I'd just buy the lot through them and save a fortune on the exchange rate.
