Nice! I've been a little bit iffy about the Zeta figures. Not too sure about the designs, but perhaps it's just a matter of seeing them in person? It's definitely going to make an awesome combiner though.

Oh I've got some really cool stuff lately.
G-Creations Rebel
I love the design of this guy, in both modes. All the techy detail and exaggerated proportions make it look really cool. Transformation was mildly harrowing the first time, but after that it's really simple. I was a bit wary given how difficult people found their IDW Optimus.
Generation Toy J4zz
Most of the reviews for this guy are good, but no one seemed excited for it. Personally I really like it. First GT figure I've got and it makes me want more. Cool design and details, good quality and a transformation that's actually fun. When I contrast it with TFCs Road Caesar figures — the only other sports car transformers I currently have — they look pretty poor; fiddly, not fun transformation. But J4zz… he's a champ.
Planet x Vulcun
So I've seen this guy going for crazy money, but I managed to cop it for a really good price — thanks Toybot Importz! — and I'm glad I did. Two things. Dinobots. Grimlock. Always been my favourite figures and I'm always on the lookout for more. This guy is awesome in both modes. Lots of nice detail, posable, cool aesthetics, and a fun transformation.

Vulcun is probably my favourite 3P figure. I'm not particularly a Grimlock fan, nor am I a dinobot or Fall of Cybertron fan. It looks great and plays extremely well though. I have Planet X Mors as well (their Starscream), which while great does not read the same level.
J4ZZ was a figure found surprisingly enjoyable. I thought it would be quite fragile and a bit of a shelf queen, but it is also a sturdy playable bot. I think people weren't super hyped for it because it doesn't nicely fit anywhere if you have a themed collection. Too big for CHUG, not G1 enough for Masterpiece. A great bit of toy though.

Those are really good points. If you're theming your collection you might struggle. For me though, I just like Cool Looking Robots. So it definitely does it for me.

I also got the Unrustables Otomo yesterday. Very, very cool. Simple transformation, fun, and an unusual design I really dig. The nod to Akira for this particular deco also tickles my fancy.

I got in the first set of the JinBao OS KO Gravity Builder last night.
for ~$70SGD, two leader sized constructicons is a bloody good deal. I've never handled the original Gravity Builder so can't comment on comparative build quality, but from the perspective of being in a vacuum that way I have no complaints. Everything feels sturdy and tight. The leg ratchets are quite tight but I understand why they'd have to be given the size of the figure and the fact that they combine.

They're going for $48 in Singapore... a crazy cheap price!
Add shipping to that and it's a little more.
With all this GST rubbish and all, I'm going to book a flight there for a holiday and buy my bots there along the way.
The Jinbao bots are a definite no brainer purchase... truly value for money.
Real glad to hear that yours is great!

Very nice. I've got the original Toyworld Throttlebots - was wondering if the Weijiang upscaled version has any issues with Wideload's back panel clipping under his head?
(Sorry for the poor description, it's been a couple of years since I've transformed him)

It’s great. An excellent set of figures that because of their large size, scale really well with the masterpiece figures. The individual figures themselves are also great. Good quality for the price. Wideload and shinebug are excellent. Highly recommended. You’ll just need the space to place it.

It 2as all a little confusing and unclear. Maketoys announced they weren’t going to proceed with the figure then reversed the decision after an online reaction. Lots of head scratching everywhere as they must’ve produced units given some were available at conventions

They had trouble drumming up enough preorders initially. It was cancelled, but then enough people got interested — there Was also a price drop — so It got a release.

i got Unique toys Challenger today from saviers toys
TLDR OMFG amazing.
first transformation was tricky but thanks to EMGO's JTI i got through it with no drama.
mine seems to be in perfect condition apart from some slightly loose hip swivels.
this is an amazing transformation from start to finish.
transforming back from truck to bot was a breeze even without instructions or a video, and the 2nd transform from bot to truck was simple.
it boggles my mind how someone worked out how to design this thing from bot to truck and for it to look so amazing in both modes.
i am almost exclusively a G1 style masterpiece collector but these UT movie bot figures are just too amazing in their engineering for me to pass up.

i have had quite a few 3p figures in the last few months
ft quietus which was amazing
two new ZETA bots for their not supereon, silver arrow and catapult which are both very good
magic squares optimus prime
and Transform elements optimus prime
both of which are very good figures and are better representations of prime than mp10 could ever be
I am yet undecided as to which one (ms op or te op) i prefer
but i will say that the TE prime is one of the best in hand figures i have in my collection , mp44 has a lot to try to live up to now.
also got magic squares legends scale Ultramagnus which is also a great figure

pretty easy actually funny thing is both of those two figures have a similar fist/arm movement in the transformation
for windcharger you just keep rotating the hand while turning the wrist
and for hotrod you just put the hand into position and move the arm bits around the double hinge

Most recent acquisitions:
Fanshobby Double Evil
An absolutely amazing figure. I love the general aesthetic, it's big, chunky and actually fun to transform back and forth. They really nailed it with this one.
Maketoys Buster Skywing
I opted for the white/red colour of this one since I have Striker Manus and I like the colour combo more. For something in the Cross Dimension line it's big! Very sturdy and well articulated. Transformation to jet mode is a bit fraught, since it uses big panels across the back, but not too bad. Combination mode with Striker Manus is ridiculously fun. Love it.

Doubles of FT-10X Phoenix from Robot Kingdom. I've seen Trent's FT-10 before but forgot how much of a beast this thing is! It's missing the two backpack fin pieces but FT are always good about replacement parts so it should be sweet. Very impressed with it so far.

Planet X - Ismenios
This is an amazing figure. I've always liked Planet X's releases, but this is a serious step up in terms of quality. It has a weight and rigidity that makes it fun to transform and pose. I have far too many transformers that are fiddly, drunken-wobble messes, and this guy puts them to shame. Looks awesome in both bot and beast mode, lots of detailing, awesome colour scheme. A+++ would transform again.
Fanshobby - Red Dragon
Bit of a holy-grail for me. I adore Fanshobby, so I really wanted this one. It's a repaint of their Feilong figure, with a new set of huge, red wings. Just… beautiful. Typical FH quality, with an amazing colour/paint job. Love it.

Oh cool! I didn’t realise Mech Planet had finally made more than just Soundwave and Bumblebee. I really like the look of Magic Square’s “autobots”, but I’ve only got stereo master (Blaster) from them
Yeah, Manero is a very small legends scale. The articulation is fantastic though, a step up from the Iron Factory version and even Newage’s own Harry (Prowl).

Recently acquired ToyHax stickers for Siege Red Alert and Smokescreen. I personally see these as Earth vehicles and the Cybertronian (Autobot) writing always bugged me. The additional stickers add extra detailing that help to make them look more like Earth cars. :)

I also got stickers for Titans Return Cerebros...
https://i.ibb.co/0Kv5fmj/fortressmaximus23.jpg
Interestingly enough, there are transparent red stickers that cover Fortress Maximus' eyes. These allow the eyes to remain red even when the LED gimmick isn't active, and yet it still allows the gimmick to work. The red light also doesn't "bleed" as much as it did without the stickers creating a cleaner looking (albeit not as bright) glow.

Unfortunately you have to get in quick on these FT releases now when they come up for pre-order. Thomas will likely get reissued at some point if you can wait it out or perhaps there will be a few more for sale on release in the next month or so.
I don't even try to get the earlier releases like the Insecticons, I mainly focus on the characters that I don't think Takara will do like Skyfire, Dinobots, Combiners etc. Fortunately I've gotten all of mine when released or reissued so haven't had to pay a crazy premium. The only one I missed that did want was the X version of Sludge, that thing is in the stratosphere. I do think Takara will do Galvatron and Cyclonus but I got FT's newer versions because they just looked too good to pass up!

Ive chucked money on pre orders for MMC Calidus (IDW Hot Rod) and JJ02 Jet Commander this week from OhMyPrimus.
Super excited to get Jet Commander - for 110 SGD it seems like a steal.
If i can find somewhere carrying the upscaled Newaage seekers I might grab a set.i got their Skywarp in Feb and the mold is great but I do not get much playability out of Legends scale stuff. They're being sized up to smallish deluxe - which is ideal.

I havnt bought a 3P in well over a year but discovered I still need a Blitzwing and Menasor to pretty much complete my MP collection. So my Gewalt and Gravestone arrived today. Funny how you expect certain figures to arrive in a big box but Gravestone was packaged in such a tiny box, I thought I had been scammed. :)

MMC Blast off and Brawl - these figures are awesome. Can't wait to complete the set and form Assaultus (Bruticus). I love the all-in-one gimmick. It always bothered me as a kid that they couldn't organically form a combiner without separate add on parts.

I got a 1:1 SS-38 OP KO since it was unlikely I was going to find a genuine one for a decent price. Plastic quality is wierd in some parts and they didn't cut the sprues off properly but has some die-cast so can't complain too much I guess.

Thanks to my brother who already had this I purchased a JX-MB-01 (Transmetals 2 Megatron MP scale). This thing is next level amazing, coincidently my brother bought a second one on the same day I bought mine om ebay and we received them on the same day in Townsville. The details and size of this Beast Wars MP are unreal. I'm not sure if the link will work as it is from my own ebay purchase but this figure is definitely worth the money. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Jiangxing-Transformable-JX-MB-01-Winged-Dragon-Beast-Megatron-Figure-IN-STOCK/274357474604?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Today's box-in-the-mail brought my first ever knock-off, a Deluxe-sized Mindwipe (named Inspiration Bat or something equally glorious) - he's another one outside my target 84/85 area of interest, but I had him as a kid so I wanted him back. Honestly never paid much attention to third-party stuff, just seen odds and ends in passing and got the impression they were mostly intense-collector-price-tagged stuff like metre-tall Grimlocks and the like, but this boy was surprisingly affordable and fits right into the Decepticon shelf.

Yes, God Neptune and MP-50 within the last few weeks.
Not defending them btw but I have always received my orders so probably nothing to worry about, but I have found they are can be quite ignorant to emails at times (sometimes I get a response quickly - sometime not at all) which is not a good way to run a business I know. Got JJ-02 Jet Commander today.
First impressions are that, for the price of a leader, this is a great set! It's essentially a Masterpiece scaled Superion. The individual figures are all loosely based on their Combiner Wars counterparts, but are MP scaled and with a few more complex twists to the engineering.
It's only MP scaled though, not MP quality. No transparent cockpits, no rolling landing gear, and the CW style chonky, slightly chibi jet modes offset the price to an extent.
If you're after an MP Superion stand-in, or just a fun set to mess around with, these are well worth the $100 ish I paid,

I don't have any of their other stuff, but do have their new Ultra Magnus on pre order with OhMyPrimus. That has a sort of faux armour power up gimmick, though as I've come to see in reviews it plays out more as the little robot scrunching up into a ball and hiding in the big bots chest.

I received BFB Dawn of Kalavinka and Iron Factory City Commander this week.
BFB Dawn of Kalavinka - I'm really really taken with this. I'm aware it's meant to be a mecha from a manga. I've never read and probably never will - I just love jet fighter transformers. This is a great figure. It's got that manga/super robot aesthetic, but is the complexity and size of a Studio Series Voyager - the closest figure I've got to it is probably SS Starscream (the TF2007 version) or SS Blitzwing (BB Movie version). Build quality seems good too. Really glad I picked it up. I'd definitely get more from this line.
IF City Commander - Great interpretation of IDW Ultra Magnus. The Minimus figure is a bit of a flub, but given that it's smaller than my pinky I can't complain. The combination is basically Minimus contorting himself into a Y shape and folding into the larger robot's chest. It's not particularly smooth, but its a fun little play pattern.

I'll second that, Newage's bigger toys are some of the best TF related toys around these days. Great sculpts, paint jobs and engineering. I have a whole bunch of their Megatron and Prime's but they are actually much more fun to transform than the MP versions.

In the last week I've had MFT Huge Dragon aka Core Scale Omega Supreme come in, along with Magic Square Red Cannon aka Sideswipe, and Newage Manero EX aka Jazz and Shean EX aka Mirage. Most of them are really nice, and I'd highly recommend them all except Sideswipe. His scale is in Magic Square's own scale, but that is so tall compared to Hasbro and Newage it's ridiculous. He's just a temporary stand-in so hell do for now, but just a few tweaks and he could be so much better, proportions and whatnot. My second problem is I love shoulder launchers, and my Sideswipe's launcher won't fit on the peg at all on his shoulder. That's very disappointing. Mirage is my favourite with a really fun and intuitive transformation, and his shoulder launcher is attached and part of the transformation, minus the rocket which you swap out depending on the mode. That's a amazing at that scale. The toy deco also looks beautiful. It's such a good figure I want the toon version now too.
Here's a few pics in this gallery, including one of him with Hasbro Core Starscream for scale purposes. Unfortunately I don't have access to most of my collection as I'm not home at the moment, so this is the best I could do.

Received Newage Hound (toon version) and Grimlock) comic version) today. Love them both. Grimlock is so easy to transform!

I got MFT Springer today. Really nice figure. A fair bit bigger than I was expecting him to be, but his scale seems to check out, so it is what it is. Very satisfied with it. Very happy I splurged and paid the 2cents for the boxed version.

MFT Astrotrain came in today. Really nice figure, even comes with an extra head in case you don't like the purple. Really nicely done. He's quite big, which makes sense considering his size. Definitely recommended.

Newage Ratchet came in today. I'm still not a huge fan of the Newage vans' transformation, but it beats the hell out of the Magic Square versions, so it's easily the winner. Definitely a good little figure overall, I'm just not fussed on the transformation.

Anyone all in on the NA Dinobots? They're pulling me in. So far all looking great and Magic Square are lagging behind.

Nah. I'm still happy with my MFT (OSKO DX9) Dinobots, and the way NA do their toys disagrees with me (conversely I have very few issues with how MST do their toys). I'll be giving whatever MST do a good look over (whenever they get there, and with luck they'll finish their promised Ark crew presently - only three to go, after all), but I honestly don't expect to be replacing what I've got.

I only ended up with Sludge from MFT's set and he is nice.
However I'm just really liking this NA output for their Dino's.
Is there some controversy I'm not aware of with NA, or is just all the colour options?

No, no controversy. The end result of their design philosophy just doesn't match what I want. I guess the best way to convey it would be to make a side-by-side comparison (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/magic-square-toys-ms-b22-cliffjumper.1211020/page-2) of New Age's Cliffjumper with Magic Square's Cliffjumper.
It's a lot of things, and many of them are subtle, but you could crudely boil it down to this - NA (as I see it) doesn't even try to hide gaps and hinges and so on, leaving the toy looking much less finished than MST's toy (and conversely MST do make quite an effort with lots of little flaps and some cunning technical choices). And this isn't a chance thing, NA are very well aware that some people don't like the look (they got a lot of complaints about the insides of Grimlock's legs, which they did in their usual fashion), but they do it anyway, because that's their design preference (and even more people are perfectly happy with it, so why change?). Also, like Emgo, they often don't seem to care about what a toy looks like from angles other than the front (see their Megatron's hideous back).
Their toys are perfectly servicable and well-made (I have their insecticons, because MST has never shown any sign of making some), I'm just not their target market (I am, being someone who always wanted toys that looked like they fell right off the TV screen, precisely Magic Square's target market instead). And that's fine :)

Absolutely I'm all in. I mean not for all decos for sure, but certianly for all the characters. Love their Dinobots. Hard to resist the toy and comic deco version though. I already have 3 Grimlocks.

I'm waiting on
- IronFactory Final Battle Magnus re-issue (the IDW chonky armour boi). I have one of the first run figures, but seeing as this is an all time fave of mine I wanted a spare.
- IronFactory Samurai Grimlock
- MMC Transtech Cheetor and Rosana (?).
Today I received Newage Action Master Thundercracker. He was a bargain, I couldn't resist.
The NewAge Seeker mold is a hell of a thing. I have one of the first run Samaels (Skywarp). They really earned their reputation.

All good stuff JJJ. Thanks for the thought process.
I guess I was pretty dissapointed with MST's Beachcomber and haven't really gone back to them. I do have their Sideswipe on order so I guess I might be starting to come back. I just think apart from Grimlocks inner calf's and Swoops neck, the NA Dino's will be hard to beat.

Isn't it? I got their Thundercracker on his first run, and I was absolutely amazed at it, a true miniature Masterpiece. It's just such a beautiful and elegant mold.
As for the Dinobots I am all in on the NA Dinos, Sludge appropriately arrived today. I haven't had time to open him yet, but he looks just as good as Grimlock. I opted for the Toy Colours in the end, even though I've got a few issues with the deco. Now I just need a matching toy deco Grimlock and I'm on track. I went comic deco on Big Grim, so I'll be fixing that.

Bit of a score today - a used, apparently-good-condition MMC Inventa Magna not-Sky Lynx pairing (the old darker blue colour) from a shop here in Yau Ma Tei. Was looking up used TFs on Carousell and found the ad for it. $800 HKD, or AU$160-odd for the pair. :D
It's not exactly a grail or anything but I didn't have the cash for it when it came out, and I did sort of want one after the Commander Class one came out and didn't really do much for me. Didn't like the reissue colours MMC did either.
So yeah, pretty good week for Season 3 3rd Party purchases for me. :)

I received Newage Toy Deco Mirage from BBTS today. Yes if you remembered me already having that you're not wrong. I got the regular version and discovered there was a problem with the hips on my Toy Deco version, and BBTS being BBTS, were ultra-cool about it and let me exchange it even though it'd been a matter of months. They happened to be the only place that still had him in stock, lucky for me. So yeah, this is the new one. I'll transform him tomorrow and make sure this one is fine. Even if he's not, I'm not troubling them again. I'll deal with it.

Got a TransArt Metal T-Rex/Not-MP Transmetal Megatron today. Wasn't going to get one but it was a steal of a price, and he looks great so I'm glad I did. BW Megs is my all-time favourite TF character and one of my all-time favourite characters from any media ever, either equal first or a close second.
The toy is surprisingly big.

Picked up the 2 leg bots for that new Iron Factory not-Liokaiser set. They look good but the combiner is going be made up of a lot of extra parts, not sure how I feel about that...
JJJ
2nd February 2024, 12:51 PM
Yeah, I was very much looking forward to them, and then it turns out that I have a line with combiners (not usually bothered by extra combiner parts) after all, and this crosses it. Seeing Drillhorn simply fold up and slot into the side of an otherwise complete leg that comes out of nowhere was too much :(

Picked up a Tyrant's Sword upgrade for the toy-deco MP Megatron - have got my eye on one but hoping the price drops down a bit - and a loose, no-accessories TFC Thousand Kills/not-Tentakil. Wish he had his Slime Lasers but the core figure with all those tentacles is nice enough that I'm still pretty happy with it. Might get their Lobclaw too, but aside from those two the set doesn't really interest me.
Thousand Kills has managed to draw blood a few times putting those tentacles on, these guys are seriously spiky.

Have just come home for lunch to find this (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/fugu-model-fg-01-god-of-flame-1-60-jetfire.1252186/) waiting for me. It will be my Missing Link Jetfire, seeing as I don't believe, even with recent news, that Takara will ever produce one.

I bought the Jinbao DF-05 / JB-8002 Destroy Emperor to go with lonely Legacy United G1 Optimus Prime. I wanted a figure to match the scale and I did some research about the height (YouTube videos, toy listings) and got various numbers. For the record, using a Vernier caliper, I measured Optimus at 12.7cm with legs straight, which is the same height as the Jinbao (head height, not gun barrel height).
