Bit odd for Override to be a Voyager... maybe some accessories? Maybe Hot Rod style complex engineering. There's not many voyager class female toys though (three come to mind and two of those are repaints of the same male bot) so that's nice.

Road Hauler would be a pass, if I'm buying a green voyager truck in Legacy it will be Bulkhead.

All the leakers say that it is in fact a re-tool (no real info on how much re-tooling) of Hot Rod.

Cybertron/Galaxy Force had some great designs, if Override comes out, I could easily bite. Plus I've been loving me some space cars recently. I wonder if Japan will Call hi Nitro Convoy.
A Legacy Vector Prime would be cool too.

Well, we did have Optimus from Cybertron in Siege, so Override (and any other planned Unicron Trilogy homages) will display well with that.

Some more Legacy listings on retailers system somewhere in America (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/03/20/ean-numbers-for-transformers-legacy-velocitron-deluxes-452078), has a prefix of "Velocitron" on each of them (as did the Voyager Override toy a few posts above)... which doesn't seem to apply to these ones here that are obviously Gen1 characters (toys), so maybe there is a subline in play here, like the Golden Disk set or Galactic Odyssey set, in which a set of toys are going to be released in packaging that has a planet (from Cybertron series) named on it... for a future cartoon or comic plot device.

Meanwhile, from one of the regular recent sources of unreleased toys (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/03/15/possible-first-look-at-transformers-rise-of-the-beast-optimus-prime-and-optimus-primal-tigatron-figures-451862), a couple of toys that appear to be for the Rise of the Beasts movie, but could end up being released in Cyberverse towards the end of the year, as one of them looks very similar to one that was officially revealed for Cyberverse in October (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showthread.php/27878-Cyberverse-season-4-(Dinobots-Unite)-new-toys?p=650463#post650463).

These two new toys are Optimus Prime (as the transport truck we already saw coming in Cyberverse packaging), and Optimus Primal (as the classic Beast Wars gorilla).
Optimus Primal appears to be packed with a Targetmaster type of mini-figure, that is a white tiger (maybe as Tigatron) that converts to a weapon.

It is difficult to tell the exact size of them, but the limited articulation and sculpting suggests somewhere between Core class and Deluxe Class. (I'd be hoping they are smaller/cheaper than deluxe class).

If they are Movie toys, then they probably the ones that we would have seen out in stores next month... if the Movie hadn't been delayed by a year. (which is why Hasbro must have decided to still release them this year, but create all new packaging that fits in with the recent toyline that retailers are familiar with)

The competition between leakers is getting more intense, as one of the other regulars has also obtained the Optimus Primal toy (https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/new-review-shows-scale-of-rise-of-the-beasts-optimus-primal-figure/46745/), showing it with some recent Voyagers and Deluxe toys to show it's size (somewhere between those two size classes, but it is intended to be a simpler gimmick toy).

These are being claimed to be wave 4 (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/03/21/transformers-legacy-wave-4-deluxe-voyager-product-numbers-found-452136) Legacy Deluxe and Voyager (I'm not even sure what wave 2 and 3 are meant to be).

Tra Gen Legacy ev Deluxe Wheeljack Pr

Product numbers could be off due to Cheetor being a Kingdom toy repack and Wheeljack being an Earthrise toy repack (enough of him!!)? The new figure's numbers aren't far off each other.

If they are going to repack toys, how about repacking figures like ER Dirge and Ramjet or Selects Centurion Drone that they didn't produce enough of in the first place!

Not usually. Looking at the last time Earthrise Wheeljack was reused - in Kingdom packaging last year, it was consecutive numbering:

Legacy Blitzwing is in the hands of the normal leakers. He looks good, but do I really need to replace my Takara Legends Blitzwing? Probably not.

It looks more G1 accurate than the TR figure, but I don't necessarily think it does a better job of being both a jet and tank than that figure.

It does look like it has an interesting transformation though (wings wrapping around bot mode legs). I'll keep my eyes on it.

Bidoofdude
24th March 2022, 06:54 PM
Blitzwing looks good but reminds me of a third party style rather than a Hasbro one. The purple IMO should be a bit brighter and the face is quite metallic. Looks like some compromises for both modes, but overall he looks good. Given a lot of other quite cartoon accurate figures we've recently though, I feel like they could have done a little better.

Looks a bit naff
I'd have just upscaled the G1 version and articulated that.
And those red boxing gloves. Lol

Legacy Blitzwing looks appealing, but does anyone know whether the two removable giant fists that the figure comes with are referenced in-fiction anywhere? I don't recall any Sunbow reference. Also, I don't understand the purpose they serve - partforming for altmodes?

JJJ
24th March 2022, 08:03 PM
I think the hands are part of the energon weapon gimmick. And now I'm wondering if the rumoured energon monster will actually be some sort of build-a-figure weaponiser spread across the waves... Anyway, not impressed by them. Waste of budget.

Blitzwing's bot mode looks very nice, certainly better than the previous toy. But the alt modes are a bit sucky, especially the jet (I'm hoping that it is just very poorly transformed due to being a stolen sample without instructions, but even then there just doesn't seem anywhere else for all that crap underneath to hide). That one's even worse than the previous toy. Guess I know what I'll be doing with my old Blitzwing once this new one turns up :)

I've been reading through TFwiki. The comics have G2 Road Rocket, Diaclone Burnout and G1 Blurr all doing things on Velocitron. So I'd guess that goes some way to explaining those characters being in that sub-line.

Eeeeeeexcellent, confirmation of the leaks is nice.

But it makes me wonder then why the forthcoming Override toy is a Cybertron character instead of the G1 one. I'm hoping that someone got it wrong, but then we've had people naming the toy its a re-mould/re-paint of, and it isn't any sort of bike-former.

I think a third Movie toy has been found by one of the leakers, a Bumblebee that turns into a rally car (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/03/30/possible-first-look-at-transformers-rise-of-the-beasts-battle-changers-bumblebee-452700).

Late to the BW discussion, but gotta say I'm... disappointed. I was expecting better. Sure bot mode looks pretty good, but those alt modes are deal breakers. Gens and TR do better alt modes.
And OMG what are those stupid hand things about?

Leaked packaging images (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/04/08/possible-first-look-at-legacy-motormaster-shattered-glass-blaster-in-package-images-453252), of toys that I would expect are being officially revealed on the 12th by Hasbro, but images must have been sent out to online stores already and someone is already leaking them.

Legacy Commander Class Motormaster.
Legacy Leader class Blitzwing.
Shattered Glass Blaster, and Rewind.

I should be surprised that we are getting more Shattered Glass toys, but in reality it can be done with every Generations toy, so who knows how many they will end up doing.

And it will be interesting to see if Rewind is a regular black to be the non-SG Gen1 toy, or be a Shattered Glass colouring to match SG Blaster. (it is not included in the packaging art)

That has been an interesting and random location for some toy leaks in the last few years... but never consistent, so I wonder if they only do some random samples every few months to cover the entire line.

I had to scroll through several pages to find some Transformers (I guess new toys keep getting added, pushing down older ones), and the ones I could see are...

Shattered Glass Blaster
Buzzworthy DLX Silverstreak
Legacy LDR Blitzwing
Legacy DLX Kickback
Legacy VOY Bulkhead
Studio Series DLX mv6 Ratchet
Legacy DLX Skids
Buzzworthy DLX Cliffjumper
Legacy VOY Blaster
Legacy DLX Dragstrip
Legacy CDR Motormaster

It's an odd mix that doesn't cover everything, and yet, that won't be the entire release of Transformers for Korea.

The leakers have been fighting over the unreleased toys again, with one getting their hands on a redeco of Kingdom Core class Megatron tank (painted bright green to homage the Gen2 Megatron toy) and the other one getting their hands on a minor redeco of Golden Disk Terrorsaur (painted more like the original BW toy, with blue robot parts and no yellow beak).

The Terrorsaur redeco (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/04/10/transformers-buzzworthy-bumblebee-terrorsaur-toy-deco-in-hand-images-453403) is being labelled as a Buzzworthy toy, so if that is true, I don't like its chances of coming here (but fortunately the Golden Disk Terrorsaur did eventually come here, and is still in stock at Amazon Australia).
(I think it was funny that these newbies who are fighting over unreleased toys just to get youtube hits, don't have the original toys to refer to, with this person needing to look up the 1996 toy on a phone.)

Meanwhile, the Core class Megatron tank (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/04/10/transformers-legacy-core-class-g2-megatron-in-hand-images-453380) might have the right colours to homage the Gen2 Megatron tank, but the size and kibble make it seem like it is just milking the mould, as the brightly coloured Gen2 toys are really niche in the fandom, and have less demand to them than Beast Wars toys.

griffin
16th April 2022, 01:13 PM
I'm not sure what the original source is for these (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/04/13/possible-first-look-at-diaclone-twintwist-parasite-453944), and they appear to be incomplete or mis-transformed... so could be from anywhere.
One is a red/blue redeco of Titans Return Twintwist (in either pre-Transformers colours or South American colours), and one is a purple redeco of Kingdom Waspinator that could be homaging the Horrorcon Transmetal Waspinator (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Horrorcon_(Universe)) that was never released (it would have been a 2-pack in around 2004 with a grey Cheetor toy, which itself has now been homaged in the Legacy toyline as a Walmart exclusive).

JJJ
16th April 2022, 06:39 PM
Okay then. I was a little surprised by the SG Ultra Magnus / Powered Convoy toy, but upon giving it some thought it came to make sense if you assumed that someone, a couple of years ago, made a policy decision at Hasbro to do as much Diaclone stuff in Generations as possible (probably justifying it with maximal mould usage).

But I'm still surprised to see a Diaclone Twintwist, even after the leak/rumour of the Salt Man Z release. And if this is a custom, then it's an amazingly well done one...

But assuming it is real, and a future release, then I have to wonder if we'll get a) Diaclone Topspin, and b) all four colour combinations from the original Diaclone line. Oh, and c) some sort of widely available re-release given how poorly distributed the 2017 toy was.

I was just looking at this listing from last year (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/leaked-2022-ss-and-evolution-wave-composition.1220748/) (originally posted in September, and hasn't been edited since November), and it is worth noting that the Studio Series and Legacy toys revealed since the beginning of this year have been pretty much spot on (especially the wave 2 Legacy toys last week, which was officially revealed 7 months later, which is pretty impressive)... which gives some reliability to the rest of the 2022 items that are also listed.

I'm still curious as to why the leak said this was Prime Soundwave, when the figure turned out to be a spotless repackage of Siege Soundwave.

JJJ
17th April 2022, 10:15 AM
Because the listing that was leaked said "Soundwave PR". Plenty of people recognised that as "package refresh", particularly those who are involved with the retail world (and really, after the last couple of years with quite a lot of re-packed toys, it should be a well-known thing by now). Plenty of other people, though, latched onto it as "Prime", and no matter how many times it was explained that it was "package refresh" people just clung to the Prime Soundwave thing. I expect, even after the official Hasbro announcement and reveal of the toy in question, to see people asking in a few months "where's Prime Soundwave? It was in the leaks...".

Also, that listing that Griffin links to may be the only one left that hasn't been fixed to remove "Prime" :)

Sure is, and i was looking forward to an MP CJ with a chibi alt mode.

However, it is nice to have MP news and rumours after months of nothing since the Raiden news.

This Trailbreaker seems like a return to the mainline MP aesthetics with faux parts in bot mode. I think the chest is not the bonnet. The bot proportion is perfect.

Don't forget that TakaraTOMY have wanted to do the Toyota Hilux MP for years now. It was mentioned in a magazine interview ages ago.

Also, I don't think any evidence has emerged of Porsche having agreed to grant licence for TFs, so it's possible that the MP Cliffjumper prototype was made, but they're awaiting Porsche to come to the table before proceeding. Don't forget that Takara also made a prototype for a Porsche Binaltech Meister (https://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/9/99/PorscheMiniSubaru.jpg), but Porsche refused to grant licence, so the toy ended up being a Mazda RX-8 (https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-cy4lua1xoh/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/7166/34103/74ecd1a2-a727-57f4-80c5-3267963da027__09275.1633015893.jpg?c=1) instead.

Time to reignite my hatred of Porsche's idiotic licensing. VW needs to step in and stop giving its divisions so much autonomy. They keep getting Porsche and Audi competing against each other instead of helping each other. Their next battlefield is going to be the 2026 F1 season.

After TakaraTomy tweeted out some teaser images (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/05/09/new-takara-products-teased-for-may-11th-masterpiece-legacy-studio-series-455630) for their May additions to their pre-orders page, it included some Studio Series figures that haven't been officially revealed by Hasbro yet - ROTF Sideways, DOTM Bumblebee, 1986 Arcee.

A leaked image on facebook of the 2013 GEN Arcee toy (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/05/10/first-look-at-studio-series-86-deluxe-arcee-t30-retool-confirmed-455665) is claiming to be one being used for Studio Series, instead of the more recent Earthrise Arcee toy. If true, there must have been enough backlash towards the newer toy to go back to using the older one.

We will find out for sure tomorrow, as the May pre-orders will be added to the TakaraTomy site.

Cybertron's not my thing, but I'm willing to consider things on their own merits. And while it does look interesting overall... damn that just looks poor (and simply lazy) to have the head sticking out of the middle of the vehicle like that. I know that that's how the original toy from 2005 is designed too, but I really don't think that works as a defence here.

As to a new mould - perhaps exclusive lines are getting new ones this year.

If it is a wal-mart exclusive, when was the last time a new mold was made as an exclusive to a certain store?

Ok Studio Series Leadfoot was a Target Exclusive, but I don’t think most retailers wanted a red version of him without the logo.

The Netflix Soundwave is probably the most recent other example.
There was a fan event where the designers basically said that the Legacy repack of Soundwave had to be the Siege version as Walmart still held an option for a rerun of the Netflix mould as part of their contract with Hasbro, which meant the Legacy release had to be the siege release

That exclusive use for a contracted period of time is really annoying, especially since the Retailer(s) don't really care what they are selling, as long as it sells. It just makes Hasbro look worse to the fans who support the Brand, for making it harder for them to get the products that are specifically aimed at them.

Netflix Soundwave is more like Golden Disk Terrorsaur or Netflix Bumblebee, in that it is a remould, rather than an entirely new toy like Override. Even the Earth-mode Ironhide/Ratchet toy was just a remould, and not one of its four uses were ever released in the mainline... which was really annoying, as that was the more Gen1 accurate mould, and yet Hasbro made it harder for fans to acquire.

I was having a look over recent exclusives, and I guess we get a fair few "new moulds" that end up limited to one or two retailers (like Collaborative/Crossovers, R.E.D. a couple of Buzzworthys) ... it is just rare and unnecessary to see a new mould toy that is packaged to be part of a regular retail line, get a limited release... when they could have easily swapped it out with a mainline redeco and pump out a lot more units to make back the money of the new mould (after all, a retailer that isn't run by fans, wouldn't know the difference between two toys in the same packaging).

Looks good. Definitely what I was expecting. Pretty good for the second toy ever. I'll be very happy to have this, and now I'm really looking forward to the rest of the Deluxe Insecticons.

Just a shame there's no-where for the abdomen parts to go in bot mode :( I stand corrected, they can plug into the wings, and it looks surprisingly good. Will also greatly help them stand out from each other on the shelf.

The colours and new head make this homage work... and I think with the original Deluxe Insecticons being so obscure, people won't care too much that the two modes don't look quite right (to me).

I'm just amazed that after all of these years, Hasbro hasn't taken advantage of the redeco potential of the three regular Insecticons (Kickback, Shrapnel, Bombshell) into three of the Deluxe Insecticons (Ransack, Chopshop, Barrage), with or without new heads, as long as the colours were exactly Gen1. They have only done it once, with the GEN-13 Shrapnel into Chopshop during Combiner Wars. And not just the three regular colour version either, as they could also milk each mould into their pre-Transformers colours too (https://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/f/fc/1985EuroCatalogInsecticons.jpg).

The "only in TT malls" part doesn't make sense, as such images are normally catalogue images sent early to retailers to inform them of new items that they can order. It makes no sense to create a catalogue image for retailers if no retailer can order it other than TT Malls (which is TakaraTomy itself).

this time in the form of “Transformers Terran Deluxe” figures, priced at $24.99 and currently all listed under codenames. “Terran” may be the codename for the upcoming Earthspark series. If so, it seems we could be getting Deluxe versions of these characters right off the bat, which would be good news for older collectors.

But that’s not all – in addition, we also have listings for $11.99 products, bearing some of the same names. These are currently a mystery, although we suspect they’re more gimmick-based figures.
In non-Earthspark news, there is also a listing for a “Bumblebee Gen SS Voy Nest 2” priced at $33.99.

July 3rd - Studio Series Rise of the Beasts (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/03/even-more-2023-transformers-listings-found-studio-series-leader-86-snarl-rotb-scourge-rotb-optimus-primal-459574)

• Studio Series 86 Leader Snarl

Good to see a Leader Snarl to complete the set of large Dinobots, as I suspect Swoop would end up being a Voyager.

July 4th - Studio Series WFC (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/04/gen-studio-series-dlx-wfc-bumblebee-listing-found-460003)

“Gen Studio Series DLX WFC Bumblebee”

Could Studio Series really start delving into the WFC computer game? That really starts to dilute its original purpose of Movie toys... which was really supposed to just be live action movies, so I guess anything is allowed now just to keep the toyline running.

I find it odd that they specifically descibe Rumble as being blue in the product description, as if it is really important that fans know what they are going to get. I guess with it being part of the Studio Series toyline, it has to be blue because that was its colour in the 1986 Movie... but if it was part of the Legacy toyline, it would have been red to properly homage the original toy.

A couple of Movie listings on a European Amazon sites....

Studio Series Leader Class The Fallen (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/18/transformers-studio-series-leader-class-the-fallen-listing-found-in-amazon-france-460799) - noted for October, and if that date is true, it would be part of the Fall 2022 wave, as we only know Voyager (Galvatron, Thundercracker), Deluxe (Bumblebee, Sideways, Arcee) and Core class (Laserbeak, Ratchet, Wheelie) so far. (it doesn't mean that there will always be something new in each size class, but the timing would line up with them)

Studio Series Deluxe Class Crosshairs (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/17/transformers-studio-series-deluxe-the-last-knight-crosshairs-listings-found-in-amazon-france-and-uk-460778) - also noted for October... which if true would mean four new Deluxe toys for September/October. It is strange that it wasn't revealed with the other three, and if it isn't part of that wave, it would be very unlikely that there would be another wave released so soon after Bumblebee/Sideways/Arcee.

All of the Amazon links have now been removed, so they might be getting an official reveal at SDCC next week.

The rumour of a Vintage Beast Wars release of Retrax is gaining more ground, as an ebay listing has shown (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/18/possible-vintage-beast-wars-retrax-reissue-incoming-460853) a small official image of the packaging, which resembles the type we've seen with the Vintage reissues.

I really hope it isn't being released, but I have a bad feeling that it is... as it could kill off any more Vintage reissues, from it shelfwarming worse than the first ones.

I'd like to see more of the show characters be re-released. Of course price is a factor, but for some figures like Retrax, it wouldn't matter how cheap it is listed for. It was a massive shelf-warmer in the 90s, and it will be again.

The toy isn't completely bad, as I think the beast mode has amazing sculpting and works perfectly as a pill bug (rolling up), but the "primary" mode (the robot mode) is heavily compromised in appearance and playability (not to mention very difficult to even stay standing with the tiny feet and heavy backpack).

Images of what could be a Shattered Glass Flamewar toy (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/13/transformers-shattered-glass-flamewar-fireglide-first-stock-images-460582) showed up from a UK online store, and if it turns out to be legit, I will move it to a proper news topic.
(it is likely to be officially revealed at SDCC next week... as this online store was probably sent the new product images to be ready to list pre-orders on the day of the reveal, but shouldn't have leaked them yet)

Flamewar appears to be a redeco of the Legacy Arcee, done to homage a BotCon toy from way back in 2005... but like Slicer, the allegiance is wrong, or being placed in Shattered Glass is wrong, as the original Flamewar was a Decepticon in those colours, and yet as part of Shattered Glass it still has the same colour scheme. Granted, on some rare occasions there have been some Shattered Glass toys that had similar colours to the regular universe toy, but they still had something different about them to make it worth issuing a "new" toy for fans to collect a "new" toy.

This Flamewar also comes with a Battlemaster (Fireglide - a redeco of the Pteraxadon toy from Siege), which doesn't seem necessary other than to increase the price of this toy, as the original Flamewar toy had a crossbow, not an axe.

The first wave was very poorly priced, and by the time that was fixed, it was too late.
And Rattrap, along with any of the original Basics (which would be like Core Class today), was wrongly priced by Hasbro (globally, not just here) as the same as the Deluxe toys, making them even worse value. At least with Rattrap being a key cartoon character some would have been more willing to buy it, but the same can't be said about one that hasn't yet been released, as it wasn't even a show character, so if it has a Deluxe price tag it will not do well at all.

What does 'test' sample mean in this context? I'm unfamiliar with design or factory QC processes. Does it mean we're very likely to see this mass-produced soon etc.?

JJJ
31st July 2022, 01:44 PM
Factory test shot - a pre-production sample made to make sure that the production model will be right. Could be checking the colours, could be checking the physical fit (to make sure the thing can actually transform, with parts moving past each other rather then through :)), could just be checking that the mould produces the required shapes without defect.

Normally this might indicate that the toy isn't too far off (the Star Sabre toys recently shown off at SDCC were all test shots of one sort or another, and it is due out some time before the year is over), but this Cliffjumper seems to have had a history of revisions, so who knows?

Playing devil's advocate here for a minute... since this toy has been leaked for well over a year now and we have suspiciously had no hint or mention of Cliffjumper from TakaraTomy (or any other official JP source) what if, this "Masterpiece Cliffjumper" wasn't actually done by TakaraTomy.

What if these samples were being done by one of the KO companies that have been replicating various MPs within months of their release, or a 3rd party company... by replicating all of the parts of the Bumblebee toy and swapping out a few parts. It probably wouldn't be too difficult for some of those companies that have been doing Masterpiece scaled figures with significant detailing... to strip out a Bumblebee toy and replace enough parts to replicate Cliffjumper.

I know that TakaraTomy operates to a different strategy to Hasbro (Hasbro would often do an official reveal within days or weeks of something that has leaked), but this just seems like a really long time for a toy to be floating around and not be included in a product display somewhere in Japan or Hong Kong... considering how they often display grey prototypes or odd-coloured prototypes (like MP Trailbreaker at the recent HK exhibition) just to have something out there to hype up the interest from their target market. To have these samples of Cliffjumper look to be a production level sample, it just doesn't make sense that it would already be in production (or ready to be in production) and not be listed anywhere for pre-order yet.
(I don't think we've ever had a Masterpiece toy be released straight to sale without going through a pre-order period... and pre-order periods these days for MP toys are 6-9 months now.)

Movie Masterpiece rumour that shouldn't happen, but probably will - ROTF redeco of MPM-10 Starscream (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/29/rumor-transformers-masterpiece-movie-revenge-of-the-fallen-starscream-in-the-works-462339) (with the Cybertronian tattoos).

Two reasons why I think it shouldn't happen - 1) we just had MPM-10 Starscream released in the last couple of years, I don't think we need another one while there are plenty of other characters to do first (including the last two of the robot cast of the 2007 movie - 3 if you count Frenzy)... 2) technically we already have MPM ROTF Starscream, as MPM-1, which was just the Japanese release of Leader class Starscream from 2010.

It also shows how it was the wrong decision to start the new Movie Masterpiece toys from number 3, as it means that the first two are considered part of the series, even though they are a completely different style and size to the current ones. They should have started from number 1, and there wouldn't have been confusion because this is the Hasbro MPMs, while the first two in 2010 were Japanese MPMs.

It doesn't make sense for that Cliffjumper to be a 3rd Party or KO product because those companies don't put numbering on their testshots/pre-release pieces like the most recent version of Cliffy has on his shoulder and pelvis, that's a typical Hasbro tactic that is used on other lines like Marvel Legends to mark their testshots/display figures at conventions or internal use to determine where they originated from if stolen and to deter the average buyer. I'm still sticking to the theory that Cliffjumper was intended to release/be announced alongside Rise of the Beasts coming out in Cinemas, as part of a deal with Porsche for that movie, and when the movie was delayed a year so was it's release.

I did also suspect that at first, but the more I see of it, the more I see Takara's DNA like the little pop-down panel at the back referencing an early G1 episode. And the overall finish just doesn't seem typical of 3P.

This is purely my theory and chances are I'm wrong, but what if this figure is actually officially licensed by Porsche but it is meant to coincide with the ROTB movie which also features a Porsche (yes Mirage not Cliffjumper) in it and quite possibly licensed Porsche toys? Keep in mind that when the Bumblebee movie dropped in 2018 we saw a bunch of licensed VW toys (including a Bumblebee movie MP and G1 MP) come out in quick succession. The ROTB movie was supposed to come out this year but now it's been delayed, so that could explain why they had a Masterpiece Cliffjumper developed already only to then hold it back for a later release.
Anyway, I'm probably wrong, but food for thought.

And, it is very small for a Voyager (it is shown with Voyager Earthrise Optimus in robot mode and is the size of a Deluxe), so could be like Rodimus Prime, with the parts count pushing up over the cost of a Deluxe price-point.

Some more pictures have popped up (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/08/05/transformers-studio-series-86-voyager-ironhide-robot-mode-in-hand-images-462743#images), showing that it looks to be exactly the same size as the Deluxe Earthrise Ironhide... so it would be disappointing if it is sold as a Voyager.

If a voyager budget is needed to not have a van mode with goofy feet at the back and partsforming, then so be it.

Yeah, that's what it is. I really don't understand all the griping about it. Those legs and feet are fairly advanced and involved engineering by HasTak standards.

Agreed. It's similar to how Deluxe Class Cliffbumblecap is smaller than a Deluxe, but has clearly above Legends Class level engineering.
These are actually price points after all, not really size classes.

I already have Henkei and Timelines Ironhide, so a new CHUG Ironhide is gonna have to do better than either Siege or Earthrise (both of which I skipped) to convince me to buy it. And I am very tempted to get Studio Series 86 Ironhide! :) I will happily pay a Voyager price for this toy if that's what it takes.

PVP has a review up on SS 86 Ironhide which went up on Sunday. It is being classed as a Voyager and the only accessory is the blaster.

Engineering wise and G1 accuracy wise, Ironhide looks great. But i am very happy with my Siege Ironhide so I wont be going for this one. Can't justify the price given he is shorter than the deluxe.

Not a toy rumour... but, a rumour about a new live action streaming tv show for Transformers?

Something that popped up a month ago (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/07/06/rumor-a-transformers-live-action-series-in-the-works-for-paramount-460119) that I was sitting on because I expected it to be announced at SDCC (where all the big movie and tv show announcements are made), is the possibility of there being a live action Transformers TV show coming to Paramount+ in the future.

It is information from an entertainment news leaker, so it definitely nothing more than a rumour, but apparently this leaker has been quite reliable in the past, so watch this space.

I'd rather they put the effort into a quality cartoon that's not targeted at kids*.

*By that I mean, kids should still be able to watch and enjoy it, however don't target it at them. Think, Dr. Who level family entertainment.

With each new mould it seems that all possible redecos are guaranteed... so when SS86 Perceptor was released, the black pre-Transformers redeco (later called Magnificus) was expected, and some leaked images look like it might indeed be coming (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/08/26/possible-first-look-at-legacy-magnificus-shattered-glass-perceptor-464336).

And what could be a black redeco of the Movie Masterpiece Optimus from the Bumblebee Movie (https://news.tfw2005.com/2022/09/01/rumor-transformers-masterpiece-movie-bumblebee-movie-nemesis-prime-black-convoy-in-the-works-464689)... hopefully not true, as the MPMs have just been toys of what we got in the movies, and they are way too expensive for too many fans to accept a black/Nemesis redeco just for the fun of it.
It's such a pointless toy, of something that was never in any of the movies, to the extent that it hasn't even been done in the cheaper Studio Series (or any of the Bumblebee Movie Optimus toys that I am aware of).

JJJ
6th September 2022, 07:34 AM
I still don't understand the whole black/Nemesis thing. Sure, a toy of a character (where one exists...) of that nature makes sense, but there seems to be both intent to make and demand for black versions of all sorts of characters. Is this just the old "got any blacker?" thing from the 90s again?

High_Q

This might be a problem for completionists, having to justify some of the more expensive black repaints/remolds of non-characters, but regardless of whether there were any fiction representations, maybe there is demand for black repaints because of their visual appeal. I saw the lows res pic of this black MPM was tempted to preorder, and i don't even collect MPM or any of the live-action TF lines.

I've got the original G1 Ehobby Magnificus - he is pretty cool. I love the special power he has to shrink and enlarge things - he might be a Decepticon scientist but imagine that on the battlefield! Superion shows up and Magnificus promptly turns him into the size of a Micromaster :D

I was trying to collect all the Nemesis versions of characters, but have given up as there seems to be more and more ones out there that I'd never even heard of.

Last one I got was Nemesis Grimlock (http://www.bigangrytrev.com/toy-review-nemesis-grimlock/)- he is an insanely cool looking figure!

(Apparently) according to Hasbro Taiwan, most HASLAB VICTORY SABER stock for that region has been water damaged and will be cancelled and refunded. If customers respond on time, they will receive the Alpha Trion and Orion Pax set as an apology in addition to their refund, otherwise they will only receive their refund.

Capsule is the industry term for what we call a sub-line. Appears to have been around for some time, but has only recently seen use amongst customers and communications from Hasbro.

In the specific listings that have been leaked, we don't know precisely what they are, but it's a safe bet to guess at something along the lines of a third wave of Velocitron or (the current favourite) a second wave of Wreckers.

If it is all fake, it is a very cruel joke... because it is asking people to voluntarily cancel their orders with the promise of a free 2-pack if they do.
When I read it, it didn't make sense that everyone was going to be having their orders cancelled with a full refund, but only people who voluntarily cancelled their orders first would get the free 2-pack,
I wonder if it was done by someone who missed out on the pre-order, and is doing all this just to get a second chance at it from the cancelled orders they are creating.

The Hasbro Taiwan statement is not on Twitter, it's on Shopee which is a popular marketplace over there. Perhaps that is why it hasn't necessarily crossed the language barrier except for a few key posts on English speaking channels.

It seems like a excess of effort to intentionally make a false statement that Hasbro Taiwan is diverting your stock allocation as to fulfil their direct sales, though.

As it stands, this issue (true or not) is only affecting Taiwan, so it should have no bearing on us here even if it is true... so I don't see much need to be digging into the matter or debating it's validity, because it won't affect anyone here, unless you had a pre-order through a Taiwanese dealer.

I keep asking if it will be opened up here, but if it does happen, it will be a big surprise that even I won't know about.
I think it will have a lot to with how it is set up here in terms of warehousing and distribution, as it wouldn't be something done by Hasbro themselves... and they already outsource their national warehousing/importing, but that company wouldn't be expected to do customer orders and shipping.

Your best chance for GI Joes is Amazon really. Or check Toymate and TK Maxx. Toymate has them on sale at the moment for $19. Got myself a couple of B.A.Ts and Alley Vipers from my Toymate the other day. TK Maxx has had some for $30 or red tagged at $22. There was Roadblock, Scarlet, Snake Eyes and Destro amongst them...

You would be amazed what you might find in TK Maxx from time to time... at the moment, you will find the last wave of Kingdom figures (Galvatron, Magnus, Rhinox and Tigatron and 'cheap' too), they had some later Earthrise voyagers at one point.

From time to time, they will have Marvel Legends figures fairly cheap. For example, i picked up a Professor X deluxe for $25 early this year. I picked up a couple of others last week.

At least once a month, you might find some 'diamonds in the rough' in there...

That’s a fun looking transformation and design - should be fairly simple for kids to transform. Is that Legion class in size, or a deluxe though? Hard to tell without any frame of reference.

It's pretty much spot on, height-wise, with Kingdom Airazor.

It’s clearly a deluxe toy, a design that looks better than Kingdom’s Airazor (and her compromises for show accuracy) but that big thing to me is the face. That’s so very unlike the live action movie toy faces, even from the Bumblebee movie designs.

Do you mean as in the sense of looks or in the sense of engineering?

From the photos I've seen the arms become the bird legs and the legs become the wings.
But even though I think the transformation is very different it looks like a very similar result.

As with Airazor, I'm surprised that there is much improvement to be made and could very well fit in with Studio Series toys - maybe Wheeljack moreso than Nightbird - the Nightbird plastics seem more patchy than you would hope for a Studio Series figure. But the VW van Wheeljack looks great!

The SS86 Commander is supposedly Ultra Magnus. Can’t say I’m thrilled as the Kingdom one was already a huge improvement on the Siege figure and I was happy with it, to get a new one so soon and presumably at the cost of another Commander figure is frustrating. Springer is next with some minor but satisfying mould changes, I’ll bet.

It better be good, in any case. I am an all-in-one Magnus fan, but if it is an armoured up Prime, at the very least it is a good opportunity to make an Optimus mould not plagued with budget comrpomises, paving the way for a cartoon-accurate Commander Optimus in 2024. Bit of a broken record at this point but the Earthrise Optimus was so good but was failed by moulding restraints for the budget.
