The other one could be anything- but since they’ve got the mold in action why not a light blue Thundercracker with the similar cartoon accuracy as Starscream?

Meanwhile, a possible grey/red redeco of Legacy Skids, as Crosscut (hardly a surprise after the recent Masterpiece Skids mould was milked to give four different colours... this would be number three of the Legacy Skids, with just the red one left to do).

Beast Wars Iguanus is being re-issued.

I'm much more interested in getting these figures re-issued than just the same dozen cast members.

Iguanus was the second ever Beast Wars figure I got, after Insecticon.

Rumour is that the next GI Joe X Transformers figure will now be the Triple-T and Sgt Slaughter.

https://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/next-gi-joe-transformers-project-rumoured-to-be-sgt-slaughter-and-the-triple-t/47487/

Personally, I think this is unlikely because Sgt Slaughter is the only GI Joe that is a real person. His TV/toy likeness and TV voice are that of WWE Hall of Famer Sgt Slaughter. In 2020 Slaughter was disgraced when it was reported that he never actually served in any US armed forces despite claiming he did serve in the USMC from 1966 to 1973. That is actually a massive insult to US military personnel and veterans and is an actual crime in the US. Hasbro would be very silly to stir up that hornet's nest.

Furiously Googling GI Joe Classified...

Am I the only person that had no idea there was a new GI Joe toyline? You would think I'd be able to buy it at work or across the street at Kmart since GI Joe was just as big as Transformers in the 80s.

JJJ
17th January 2023, 11:21 PM
Nah, not all that surprising really. The amount of toys alone sold in the US (assorted toy lines, not just items) is jaw-dropping, and we only see a fraction of it here. I occasionally skip through a video or two on Youtube from someone like Laura Legends, going through an actual shop, and the shelves and stock are just endless. And she's Canadian, I believe, so what you get in the US is even ... morer :)

Someone at Hasbro clearly thinks that there's no market here for GI Joe. Dunno if they're right, but GI Joe certainly never impinged on my awareness as a child in the 80s.

FYI - you can buy it in person at Toyworld and Toymate, and from Amazon.com.au

It’s a six inch figure line though - not the 3 3/4 you would remember growing up.
I still want to see reissues and new joe toys at 3 3/4. Except for a few small ‘retro’ releases at Walmart which don’t come out here, it doesn’t seem to happen. They’re not taking the property seriously.

Crosscut looks strangely quite cute and stumpy. I wasn't a fan of Legacy Skids but it gets the job done. Sadly I snapped the plastic at the joint on my Thrilling 30 Crosscut, which is a shame because I strangely enough thinks the character looks better in the IDW look. It's good that Hasbro hasn't shied away from doing every offshoot G1 car repaint under the sun, they're there for those that want them and are a responsible use of exclusive spots, rather than main cast characters that every collector wants.

They're starting to do some more 3 3/4, however not with O-Rings. Agreed though, few and far between.

There have been a couple O-Rings though and the rumour is that the Sgt. Slaughter coming with the Triple T will be a retro O-Ring 3 3/4 figure. You'd by the set just for that.

Disclosure: I have no dog in this race. I care nothing for pretenders but I've noticed that so far in Legacy they've been handled inconsistently.
The two core class ones are basically the G1 shells that can transform now. The deluxe - Skullgrin - is a blend of inner robot and shell, and the voyager - Metalhawk - is entirely the inner robot from what I can see.
Does this inconsistent approach in aesthetic and size class bother anyone collecting CHUG pretenders?

Bothered to the point where I don't think there's a set worth of these collecting yes. I'll "wait" for a better Skullgrin.

The Core Class look interesting (and I'd buy a new Skullgrin/Daurus if it was Core Class). Metalhawk being his own thing doesn't bother me, if the other Masterforce bots don't appear I think he's fine standalone as a unique import character.

At the moment the Prime Master set is still the best set of CHUG Pretenders we have.

Oh good, finally someone that isn't part of the stolen toys cabal leaked a pic of it. Pictures of this guy have been loudly making the rounds in private for the last little bit and 'totally not stolen' copies have reportedly been sold in private for hundreds of dollars.

Anyway, looks great from what we can see right now. Gonna be good to have a version of this guy that isn't paralyzed below the waist when using the trailer for the super mode. Also, apparently if you have Armada Overload you can combine the old Overload and the new Prime because Prime has the same connection points for the combination as the old one

We're getting into a position where I suspect we're going to see a bunch of Machine Wars homages in the next few years, probably in whatever subline replaces Velocitron.

Towline can be repainted into either Hubcap or Hoist.

Leader TFPrime Skyquake can be done as MW Starscream or even MW Megatron in a weird roundabout way. Leader TFPrime Skyquake is a pretool of G1 Skyquake, which is the mold used for MW Starscream. The 2013 Botcon Machine Wars set also used Animated Voyager Skyquake for MW Megatron.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CqEoCI-qXBW/
I haven't been able to find any other sources, and tfwiki, Wikipedia and IMDB all still list him as being alive, so I'm treating this as a rumour for now.

Michael Reaves wrote the G1 episode, "The Big Broadcast of 2006," which was adapted into an issue of the G1 comics by Simon Furman. Reaves also wrote three episodes of Beast Machines; Season 1's "Mercenary Pursuits," and Season 2's "Sparkwar Part I: The Search," and "Endgame Part 1: The Downward Spiral."

Oh nuts. I wasn't really impressed by, and therefore wasn't really interested in, the first set of pics from last week. Looked a bit crap, really.

Now though, with a more finished product...

Maybe I should just try to hold out for a co-captain Megatron for an IDW version...

So, Miner Megatron is in a two-pack with Senator Ratbat (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/first-look-at-legacy-miner-megatron-and-senator-ratbat-2-pk.1247942/) (re-tooled from Scourge), and these are the first box of this year's Amazon capsule (last year's was the Wreckers).

So far for this capsule (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/first-look-at-legacy-miner-megatron-and-senator-ratbat-2-pk.1247942/page-12#post-21318009) we have:

1 deluxe (currently unknown)
1 voyager (Nacelle)
2 pack of voyagers (Miner Megatron and Senator Ratbat)
2 pack (price point and identities currently unknown, but the art on the previous 2 pack is suggestive...)
1 leader (currently unknown)

I like, but it's a bit of shame there doesn't seem to be any plan to finish the Wreckers (Whirl and Roadbuster would have been nice, and Diaclone Topspin seemed obvious).

So, this is to Transformers what the MOTU Origins line is to classic MOTU. I was just wondering the other day about this concept but dismissed it as being unlikely to eventuate because we are already saturated with G1 fan focused lines in the form of MP, SS86, and occasional G1 reissues.

I have so many questions. Are these two OP's one-off TF 2024 40th anniversary releases? Do they have diecast, like the originals? Will they be packaged like Encores in vintage style boxes?
All i can think of is Sunstreaker and Sideswipe  in this line.

Yeah, to be honest I feel that this idea of "articulated G1" is a couple of decades too late, but I'm sure many fans will still welcome it (myself included).

I too hope that since they are going to the effort of tooling in articulation (and these may well be entirely new moulds altogether) they can fork out the budget to rebuild Sunstreaker, Wheeljack, Mirage and other G1 toys that haven't been given a run in a long time.

If HasTak are listening, I'd totally love a set of the 1984 minibots including Bumper. Do it! Doooooo it! :D

I reckon there are a lot of original figures that this wouldn't work with.

Prime, Soundwave, Perceptor, characters with physically separate arms and legs should be doable. However I reckon a lot of the cars are out, the seekers are out, a bunch of the minibots are out... constructicons out... Don't want to sound negative but yeah, I struggle to see how many they get through.

If they are spending the money though, how about they rescan/do whatever to rebuild the moulds of Wheeljack, Mirage, Shockwave and the Dinobots...

This was DrLockdown's (http://www.otca.com.au/boards/member.php/4259-DrLockdown) idea, which I think is great, but Hasbro could crowd fund reconstructing G1 toys where the original moulds have been lost. The reissues would be dearer than the average price, but I reckon enough collectors would be willing to back it to make it commercially viable.

Gee that sounds like a winner of an idea. The cost of the mould is one thing, but so too is the issue of finding a retailer space for it. We’d started to see retro G1 with Walmart, and then it sort of faltered. Crowdfunding would be a way to guarantee a return on investment for Hasbro/Takara. I’d love to see it happen.

Oh great, just what I need, another G1 Optimus Prime and Soundwave.

But it is great to see more BW characters coming and CR finally gets some love in the form of a character that is not a black repaint of G2 Optimus.

Also, has anyone said what the HM Megatron, Bouldercrash, Magneous and the "Rock" listings are? I can't find anything in TF Wiki to indicate what they might be.

JJJ
21st August 2023, 08:00 PM
Bouldercrash and Magneous are the names of two rock characters. As for what the rocks actually are, nobody knows, except that they are next year's line-wide gimmick toys (Junkions this year, fossilisers and weaponisers previously). There has been some speculation, based solely on the name, that it is something to do with Rock Lords. I hope not...

Similarly, nobody right now knows what HM Megatron means. Speculation is Heavy Metal, with some connection to, I think, some video game I've never heard of.

Paulbot
21st August 2023, 10:33 PM
Think I saw speculation that the Optimus would be the earthrise one, again, in Honor of the anniversary. The gap of a few years might be why it doesn’t get a Package Refresh label like some others. Soundwave could be the Walmart/Netflix toy no longer exclusive and with some accessories (tape bots?). There’s a Bumblebee listing that could also be the same.

HM would suggest High Moon to me, but we’ve already seen their Megatron as a voyager. Maybe his design from their last game?

Presumably Lockdown will be the most popular of the Starseekers, but if JB can get that line shouldn’t be too much trouble based on the Toxitron line (compared to Veloictron). Still think the retool should have been exclusive and Lockdown mainline.

Sureshot is my absolute winner here. Hopefully they learn from Pointblank and don't cheap out on him to try and squeeze in a TM. Happy for them to raise the price point or do the Hotshot thing and have a second release that includes the TM.

No mention of Venom is pretty sad. I was also hoping we'd see the start of another set of late G1 characters like the Firecons or Triggerbots... HM Jr's, Throttlebots... something?

Really keen to see that Tigerhawk, finally.

It's been kicking around various leaks/rumour threads for a while now, and I suspect it just missed being done last year to go alongside TM2 Megatron. I know that the Hasbro design team have stated that there was a late decision made not to go in a full TransMetal/Fuzor direction with the line, after teasing it in a few early figures. I expect the design has been hanging around since then.

It's good to see that Hasbro is letting TakaraTomy do a lot of their own redecos again, as we are seeing quite a few Generations toys with altered decos this year, and all of the Earthspark toys as well.
It might have been good for my wallet to not be tempted by two different decos in the last 4 years, but I really missed being able to have that option of selecting a better looking deco if the Hasbro one sucked.

I like the idea of a BW Starscream/Waspinator 2-pack, but they already have Waspinator coming out in the 3rd Verses pack with Cheetor, and the only difference this one is likely to have is a Decepticon symbol on it.

I like the idea of a BW Starscream/Waspinator 2-pack, but they already have Waspinator coming out in the 3rd Verses pack with Cheetor, and the only difference this one is likely to have is a Decepticon symbol on it.
I think most fans might only get the 2-pack for the translucent Starscream, and offload Waspinator.

TFW2005 says the Waspinator in this set is clear like the Starscream. It's hard for me to tell from the low res pic that has leaked, but maybe they're right.
There's no basis in fiction for Waspinator to be clear though, is there? I'm well aware of the BW episode where Starscream's ghost takes over Waspinator's body, but his body stayed solid unless there's something I'm not remembering.

I haven't followed the Reactivate game news, as its first announcements didn't seem too exciting to me.

But it looks like November 14th will have some official toy reveals for this game, as there was an accidental leak of a 2-pack, which prompted Hasbro in America to have to release a statement about the impending toy reveal. (note that the toy images and info are called Transformers Rise, instead of Reactivate, which I think was the original working name for the game)
https://news.tfw2005.com/2023/10/18/transformers-reactivate-toys-update-from-hasbro-496786

We wanted to note that recent TRANSFORMERS product information and images revealed by a Canadian retailer were listed incorrectly. Our partners at Splash Damage are working hard on the TRANSFORMERS: Reactivate game. We’re excited to announce that we will lead the charge with two game-inspired 2-packs, revealing and pre-ordering on November 14th.
Stay tuned to Transformers and Hasbro Pulse social channels for further details!

The accidental reveal was a 2-pack of Starscream vs Bumblebee, which had the following product information....
https://news.tfw2005.com/2023/10/18/first-look-at-transformers-rise-starscream-bumblebee-2-pack-496772

These figures should be part of the Transformers Reactivate video game collection, formerly known as Transformers Rise. We have images of the packaging and robot and alt mode of Bumblebee and Starscream. The design looks stylized but still retaining some classics elements. Bumblebee has got 20 transformation steps and Starscream 26 steps and each figure stand 5.5-inch and 6.5-inch respectively. The pack is priced 97.99 CAD which is about $71.90 USD.
See the new images after the jump as well as the official product description (the information seems to be related to an early version of the game). Then hit the discussion button and sound off on the 2005 Boards!

I figured we'd get an SS86 Prime, didn't think it'd be commander class. Guess it'll be somewhat involved to justify the budget, and will probably have pretty much every accessory that's ever come with an Optimus Prime toy. Kinda thinking right now that it's a bit of a waste, and that something else could have made better use of the budget. And I'll probably forget that objection once we see it :p

Ah shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit...

I think this might qualify as Hasbro's worst TF decision for several years.

I wonder if this might be found at 50+% off in a year or two at JB, as has happened with the Worlds Collide pack. I hope so, because there's simply no way I'm paying what will be the full price of this pack for Hound (I would estimate at least $200). I very much doubt it'll be possible to offload the other four - everyone who ever wanted a Wheeljack has one after three successive releases, SS86 Jazz was everywhere eventually, and even though Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker saw strangely low stock numbers arriving on Australian shelves, it has been literal years since I heard anyone say they still didn't have them.

--edit--

Nope, won't be sitting around on sale later - this isn't Buzzworthy as I thought at first, the is straight up Selects. Which means you'll most likely never see it in the flesh unless you specifically order it.

Nuts to the whole thing.

Hasbro said in a recent interview that an SS86 Megatron would likely be a tank. Personally I think it's a silly move putting it under the Studio Series banner when they could've put it under Legacy instead (they had no issue splitting up Cyclonus and Scourge that way after all).
Personally I'm not bothered as it's well been established by now that they can't or won't make Megatron a gun, but I know it's going to lead to a lot of debates and confusion about the decision.

Personally I'm not bothered as it's well been established by now that they can't or won't make Megatron a gun, but I know it's going to lead to a lot of debates and confusion about the decision.

This is why a part of me wishes that they never make a SS86 Megatron. If they're just going to make another tank, the WFC Earthrise and Siege Megatrons were tanks and serviceable as G1 Megatrons The Dramatic Capture Nemesis Bridge redeco is pretty much cartoon accurate Megatron. And the problem with all of those are the visible tank treads and the lack of shoulder pistol barrel in robot mode. So neither mode is actually G1 Megatron.

I hope they make a robot that looks exactly like G1 cartoon Megatron but transforms into just about anything else. They can sacrifice the alt mode because everyone knows it can't be a realistic gun. It doesn't have to be a tank (because he never was a movie tank) or, if it's going to be a tank, hide all the tank bits and avoid tank parts forming i.e. an improvement on the WFC mould. But if that's too difficult a challenge, I'd accept a perfect robot mode that transforms into some funny looking alien machine.

Hmm, I wonder if they can make a SS86 Megatron that transforms, somehow, into Galvatron (doesn't matter which mode).

The news of new Constructicons, Aerialbots and Combaticons is great! I assume they will combine. I don't have Superion or Bruticus at all and I never liked the Combiner Wars versions. Given how Legacy Menasor turned out, I think the new combiners will be better than the previous ones. I agree.

I really (naively) hope that HasTak can come up with some clever workaround to make SS86 Megatron transform into a Not-A-Gun, just like Sixshot's "submarine" and Shockwave's "spaceship" modes. But granted that they were only dealing with fictitious space guns and not a Walther P38, it may be more likely that HasTak just can't pull off this same trick with Megatron.

Alternatively, have Megatron transform into a Nerf gun - similar to Classics Megatron, only with 2024 engineering instead of 2006. Okay, a Nerf gun still isn't a Walther, but it means that Megatron can still be a pistol and have gun kibble in robot mode instead of tank kibble. We know that Hasbro can still make Nerf gun Transformers, as we had that Rise of the Beasts Optimus Prime Nerf pistol just last year.

The Elite 2.0 Slyshot (https://nerf.fandom.com/wiki/Slyshot) seems to be the closest Nerf gun that resembles a Walther pistol (vaguely resembles a PPK). HasTak could release a Megatron toy that transforms into this Nerf pistol with G1 Megatron colours (and a bright orange barrel to make parents happy). It's also much less bulky than the N-Strike Maverick that Classics Megatron transforms into, thus less likely to require shellforming.

https://i.ibb.co/zFdjhY9/megatron-nerf-eliteslyshot.jpg
This is, of course, just a crude mockup that I've quickly made on MS Paint. But you get the basic idea. The Elite 2.0 Slyshot would give SS86 Megatron a similar looking pistol mode and potentially allow for a similar looking robot mode with actual gun kibble instead of a tank with fake gun kibble in robot mode. The scope, silencer and stock would be attachable accessories as with G1 Megatron.

Also, a gun called "Slyshot" seems appropriate for Megatron. :p I'm not a Nerf expert by any means, so if anyone is aware of another Nerf pistol that looks more similar to a Walther P38, do feel free to LMK. :)

So I see they really did go with a repainted Cyclonus for Ferak, despite the two unrelated Marvel comics characters to whom the name has been attached (and just how did the Decepticon killed by Rodimus Prime end up labelled so? Who decided that?) looking nothing like that. Definitely a time when I wish the designers would not pay any heed to TFWiki but actually make the effort to look at the source material.

We're getting Cannonball before Cybertron Red Alert lol.

Though with Armada Red Alert being rumoured, it would be interesting to have 2 toys based off Unicron Triolgy Red Alert.

Also I'm pretty doped that I can finally get a Lockdown figure.

In this case, the source material is actually Botcon 2014, not Marvel G1. The theme that year was Pirates vs Knights (yeah, I know, it made no sense).

That said, I really do not see why Hasbro is integrating Botcon characters and concepts into official Hasbro products. The best years of Botcon were when they made G1 characters Hasbro never got around to, like the Seekers from MTMTE Part 1 (which they incorrectly named the Rain Makers).

It does seem like they are trying to erase memories of BotCon by redoing so many of those concepts. Maybe they saw BotCon aftermarket prices and thought we should be getting that cash, lets put out our own Antagony, SG Starscream, Ferak etc

These pirates are now officially revealed via Walmart, with pics of alt mode and packaging https://news.tfw2005.com/2024/03/07/walmart-star-raiders-line-new-images-505361

Why do I have the feeling Hasbro are in that same mindset they were in after G1 finished airing and every sub-group needed a more and more stupid gimmick?

We have some alleged Takara solicitation material (https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/missing-link-c-01-and-c-02-g1-convoy-optimus-prime-revealed.1251563/page-308#post-22302963) that has leaked. If real, then the next two ML toys will be Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. Apparently we'll see on the 8th of May.

Those two were waaaaaaay down the list of likely candidates, due to the intricate engineering required to give them articulation.

Images have already been leaked, although there is a 8/5 embargo date on reproducing/distributing them. Here's a deliberately modified version (or you can go and Google the original leaked images yourself).

But even through the "censorship," you can still see the articulated arms and legs, as well as fist holes that allow them to hold pistols. They also have wrist swivels, although the front wheels are attached to the base of the fists, so turning the fists also rotates the wheels. e.g. if the fists are upright, then the wheels are turned 90 degrees from the shoulder wheels etc.

If you remember when they leaked the Star Raiders subline, they mentioned there would be a leader class Thundertron. Seeing as it was most likely gonna be a redeco of the Voyager legacy toy, people wondered what would be included. Well, pics show him (slightyl redecoed and retooled) with a redeco of Ratbat and Magneous (https://news.tfw2005.com/2024/05/11/legacy-star-raiders-leader-class-thundertron-with-calcitron-and-nightstrike-first-look-511246)

Not toy news, but rumours are the Activision made Transformers games (https://www.thegamer.com/activisions-transformers-games-have-reportedly-been-relisted-licensed-video-games-xbox-steam/) might be getting relisted. Atm only the steam relistings are showing any signs of a chance they are coming back (the Xbox store is a bit misleading since the pages never left the store)

I just checked the Steam back end. It looks like a case of move along, nothing it see here. All games had their beta branch updated 13 months ago. Since then the only changes are things Microsoft have zero control over like Steam making a database change that affected hundreds of games.

An update on the gaming news rumour from earlier, Apparently 2 ratings on the classification board have popped up. Both are (https://www.classification.gov.au/titles/transformers-4) rated PG (https://www.classification.gov.au/titles/transformers-5). Seeing as there are rumours of 2 games coming out later this year (https://news.tfw2005.com/2024/09/01/rumor-microsoft-studios-is-working-on-two-transformers-video-game-projects-519899), we might be seeing WFC/FOC making a return.

There seem to be a bunch of previously unkown figures for 2025. Including what's presumably a Legacy Menasor style take on Superion, and a Titan Class Star Convoy. The thing I'm wondering, is why Titan Class for Star Convoy? If he was a Commander Class sized Star Convoy with Sky Gary and Micromaster Hot Rod then I could see a Titan Class price point making sence. But I don't really want a Metroplex sized Optimus Prime figure. Also, G2 Dinobots, but I'm guessing they are Core Class because 5 leaders in a set would be expensive.

Star Convoy is a really fun toy design, and I just loved the new appearance over traditional prime designs. Coming with a micro master Hot Rod is very cool too. So a new version in that size is appealing. Can’t wait to see pics.

But it does seem a strange choice for Titan size, just because it has little appeal to most collectors who ever had one or know the character.

I think the size class makes sense from design, given the huge size of the trailer base, and that it should come with a small Hot Rod as well (core class perhaps? To justify the extra price).

I just don’t think it would sell as well. But I could be wrong. Cybertron Metroplex was a deep cut too.

I fully expect titan Star Convoy to be about the price point, not the size of the toy. Well, it'll be big, but it won't be as big as recent titans, and it will be far more complex in terms of parts and transformation.
