I've seen the Caprica pilot and I'm interested in seeing more.
Also anticipating the mid-season return of Stargate Universe.

Yeah. Canned. For some reason Cartoon Network wants to do more live action shows as opposed to oh I don't know - CARTOONS.

Chowder was one of the shows canned (This all happened around the same time season 3 of TFA was announced as the last season BTW) Chowder's creator, CH Greenblat was quite upset over it.

There is a silver-lining, there's a 1/2 hour special in the final season where they pull a DBZ and you see Chowder as a chef with his own apprentice.

I am not into it yet but last weekend I watched SGU episodes 11-12 at the behest of a work mate who swore to me that I would not be disappointed (He knew how much I hated Episodes 1-10). I must say that I was impressed - A far cry from the previous horrible and nonsensical 10 episodes.

I may actually get into this series if the level of quality of 11&12 is maintained for the rest of the season as I was really put off by the first half and I am still getting over it.

Kenny versus Spenny
The Tom Green Show (Rogers/Comedy Network Canada/MTV)

Dick Spanner (2 seasons of animation made by Gerry Anderson of Thunderbirds fame)
Monty Pythons Flying Circus
The X Files
Plasmo (short animated series produced in Australia, used to be on ABC)
et. al.

Yeah it's a shame too, but good thing they stopped at the right time when ratings were at its lowest (since S1 I think).

I know they've announced the upcoming movie but nothing's happening at the moment, like the actors are just waiting to be called into work, the script has been done by Billy Ray (not Cyrus thankfully :D) but there's no attached director. Production was meant to start apparently at this time of the year but nothing's happened yet - if no movie is made then the ending to S8 becomes pointless as heck then :[

I'm not too fussed on the Walking Dead. I've been getting into Community and this morning I turned on the TV and the new Genndy Tartakovsky animated series Sym Bionic Titan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrCIkDQ6qHQ) had started on GO!

Genndy created Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack and directed the original Clone Wars (seasons 1 and 2) micro series. Recent work involved fight choreography on Iron Man 2.

Wow, this thread has been silent for a while! :):) . I was just about to start a new one with the same topic but good thing I found this using the good ol' search function.

As you can see by my avatar, I'm really getting into Sons of Anarchy. Great show by Kurt Sutter and is much better than the Shield.

I also watch NCIS: LA, Burn Notice and 24.

24 WAS good, S1-3 were the best and parts of S5 were good as well. The show would have been fine if it ended at S7, but with S8 it turned into a heaping pile of sh!t.

Burn Notice, despite being stupendously unrealistic at times is a very fun show to watch - same could be said about NCIS: LA.

Yeah I watch that too - it's a show with great production value and is growing on me, but I have a feeling it's becoming just another police procedural.

There's one show that I absolutely loved but then got canceled which just devastated me - Veronica Mars. All 3 seasons followed her throughout high school and college using her amateur detective skills and then there was meant to be a 4th season where she moved into FBI training - and she finally got to use a gun (in the promo). Kristen Bell finally became a kickass FBI-agent only to have her show canceled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ratings. TV Networks can't risk having shows that don't generate enough viewership otherwise they don't get paid, considering the current state of the American economy even good shows have to get axed. It's a tough world out there for TV...

Hawaii 5-0 is becoming too generic, just another cop-show clone. It's losing viewership in the US as it's same-old same-old except in Hawaii setting. I too prefer NCIS, but I'm more of a NCIS:LA fan as it's more action based.

Bad ratings is what causes shows to get cancelled. I didn't mind No Ordinary Family myself, but the show's characters were too generic and I think too much of the show was spent on family matters, like in an ordinary family. The ending of the series was taking the series in new exciting directions, but I think it was too late by then. I think it kind of went through the same phase as Heroes, it was a show with a good/interesting premise but didn't make the most of in it's first season which is crucial to it's survival. (but then you have shows like firefly that get cancelled anyways because of not enough interest).

The show was good, then it got better but it was too late by then. Second season would have been good. Damn TV execs

Another series I really like (and hope it doesn't get canned) is Game of Thrones. This started slow establishing characters etc but a couple of episodes in it is so damn compelling I get pissed off when each ep finishes. Sean Bean is fantastic and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) as the randy, foul mouthed dwarf is excellent.

While it's quite good, unfortunately I think its a canning waiting to happen. The budget must be huge and at the pace it's going right now, it will catch up to where the books presently are in no time. Theres no real big time-skip in the books and those child actors aren't going to stay children forever. Honestly if I hadn't been a fan of the books prior I wouldn't bother watching.

It's a sad day today, last night Aussie Actor Andy Whitfield (Better known for his role as Spartacus) died yesterday of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (Stage 4 Cancer). :(

Here is a report courtesy of news.com.au (http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/spartacus-star-andy-whitfield-39-dies-in-sydney/story-e6frfku0-1226134662983):

ANDY Whitfield, the 39-year-old star of the cable series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, has died in Sydney.

Manager Sam Maydew said Whitfield died yesterday of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Whitfield's wife Vashti in a statement called her husband a "beautiful young warrior" who died on a "sunny Sydney morning" in the "arms of his loving wife".

Whitfield - who was born in Wales and lived in Australia - was a virtual unknown when he was cast as the title hero in Spartacus, a hit original TV series that made waves with its graphic violence and sexuality.

Whitfield was preparing for the second season when he was diagnosed 18 months ago.

Australian actor Liam McIntyre took over the role this year.

Wow what a mid season cliffhanger for The Walking Dead!

It was okay... sadly one of the best episodes this season. Season 2 so far has a noticeable drop in quality compared to season 1 IMO. (Although overall I prefer the comic)

The only show that I was watching was Breaking Bad which was IMO one of the best U.S. TV shows, and recently,The Walking Dead replacing its time slot. Now that the season has ended and uni has finished, I'm going to be catching up on these series that have been recommended to me:

-Boardwalk Empire
-Games of Throne
-Mad Men

Any other good shows people can recommend? Any good recent BBC stuff?

I started watching the first series of this the other day, but, having read (and loved) the first 92 issues of the comic book I'm not going to continue.

What I did find however was that my enjoyment of the first episode increased incredibly when I made my TV black and white. It felt more like the book and the makeup effects seemed more realistic.

I've been watching a rip of Knight Rider recently - man i loved that show as a kid! But the reason i'm posting is, does anyone remember a similar show or movie that had a motorbike as the main character (that also spoke like KITT)? I love the crazys that rock up into that store. That alone makes it watchable. Working retail, it's something I can relate to, obviously it would be worse if he had a TV crew in the shop. (shudders)

I have no idea how a family run/ owned business still allows childish fighting all the time as that show portrays. Then it IS reality TV so it's probably scripted, much like Pawn Stars has scripted parts in it.

Bought series one of Lars von Trier's The Kingdom. Very excited to get stuck into this one. Here's Amazon's brief write-up on it:

The Kingdom defies categorization. This cult Danish miniseries plays like a nightmarish cross between Twin Peaks and Chicago Hope as directed by David Cronenberg, and even that hardly captures the giddy absurdity of Lars von Trier's soap-opera-cum-horror-tale. The setting is a modern hospital built on a medieval graveyard, but the most terrifying ghosts belong not to ancient history but rather to the hospital's own dark past. An egotistical, self-righteous visiting Swedish doctor, who abhors the Danes and screams his outrage in nightly rants from the hospital roof, presides over this ensemble of eccentrics; but he's hardly the strangest this hospital has to offer. ER has nothing on this delirious madhouse, where haunted ambulances, a Masonic cult, a devil cabal, demons, ghosts, and a most mysterious pregnancy lurk in the fringes of more earthly (though equally bizarre) melodramas. Shooting in video with a bobbing handheld camera, von Trier creates an otherworldly atmosphere with the dimly lit corridors and bland, drained color schemes, set to an eerily sparse soundtrack of echoing hospital sounds and electronic wailings. The mix of deadpan hysteria and spooky ghost story concludes with the most outrageous cliffhanger put on film (to be continued in The Kingdom II). (The home video also includes closing comments by a smiling von Trier himself, unseen in the theatrical version.) Simply put, you've never seen anything quite like this. --Sean Axmaker

Finished watching the first season of The Kingdom last night (4 X 4hr eps) and it is totally freakin' epic!! It's definitely Denmark's answer to Twin Peaks albeit with more humour and a style reminiscent of Peter Jackson's early films. I love the little segments with the two down syndrome kids shown every now and again, their inclusion is so bizarre yet such a stroke of brilliance!

What is really strange though...I started watching The Kingdom (keeping in mind this is a show about a ****ed up hospital) the same night I actually ended up in hospital due to back/chest probs. If the hospital wasn't so well lit it would have been a pretty freaky experience!! I hope that doesn't mean the next time I watch Rec someone starts boarding up my house and...Okay, gettin paranoid now. :p

A.T actually has some good plot to it, but still keeps that random and entertaining feel of randomness and comedy.
