One of the stores said that to me, but the other stores were destroying them in their cardboard compactors...
I cant imagine Hasbro would want them back either, because they wouldn't be in a good enough condition to re-issue to other stores, and they have 'BigW' all over them (not stickers either - actually part of the printed exterior image), so no other chain would want to use them.

I think that store might have just said that, to avoid any begging from an interested person if they said it was to be destroyed.

I worked for target in the toy department about 4 - 5 years ago now and this is true and display items would just be crushed in the cardboard compactor out the back. They never asked for any displays back, We had a cool Playmobile display diorama in a plastic display case that when it was over we put in the bin out the back.
But a lot of the time the posters and displays would just go to the staff there, a mate of mine has all the display items from the first movie, posters cut out etc.

Some art ended on eBay today that I suspect you might have liked, Hursti -

It's original watercolour art from the 1986 picture book Jaws of Terror: http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~s...tuff/jaws.html

As an insane Ratchet toy fan, I'm also the incredibly proud owner of the original art to pages 14-15 of this book:

    Aww...

Man, you're dead right about that as all the pieces you've shown/linked here are absolutely stunning and I'm not even that big of a fan of Watercolours!

They're all pieces of history too! - Wish I had some free wall space.

Sky Shadow: That is one sexy picture!

Anyway, I picked up DotM Deluxe Topspin today from Target. I know their sale is on Thursday, but I couldn't wait. Plus it's the first time I've seen this toy anywhere and was the last one there. I paid $28, but saves me time/fuel later searching for this toy in the future. Knowing my luck I'm gonna find this toy everywhere for heaps cheap now. Ah well...
