Default Should the G1 Marvel sequel: #81 onwards, make inroads towards Beast Wars?

Simon Furman has stated that with regards to the upcoming continuation of the US Marvel G1 continuity issue #81, whilst he wont be continuing on from G2 he won't be completely disregarding it either and as such, as he is on record as having said that he really wanted to do more with Beast Wars; what if he were to work towards building the narrative (hence cannon) around the Pax Cybertronia and the introduction of the Predacon and Maximal factions proper?
    • What are everyone's thoughts on this progressive step?
    • Would members be against such a story destination?

I'm not sure about continuing the line at all since it's beenout of print for so long, but it will help sell their new classics re-prints a dn give us somewhere to go when we get to the end of the re-prints.

as for it's direction, I would hope that they followed the plan that they had when they were originally writing it. with adjustments for modern understandings and sentiments of course.

I think it's a great idea. And G2 can't be ignored because it also ties in with Beast Wars - in particular the Swarm.

It would be an awesome thing if it does stablish 'seeds' that imply a continuation into Beast Wars but I would prefer if it sticks to being a good story first.

I think a book selling itself as being as Marvel G1 comic continuation really shouldn't touch Beast Wars. Maybe a few hints in that direction but they'd be shooting themselves in the foot by not focusing on telling a purely G1 story, just hopefully it's not a AHM-style "only 1984-86 characters count" type of G1 story. (And by the generally varied cast in Furman's IDW books I hope it wont be).

It would be cool if there were minor 'easter egg' type stuff in the scenery or even a line or two hinting something BW but yeah, it would not be very good if it takes over the 'G1 Marvel' feel of the comic.

Oh no, no I agree ; what I meant was things like protoform technology's development, the seemingly combined technologies of the Pretenders and Micromasters as natural Cybertronian evolution/development, the explanation as to how the two new factions come about...

I too believe that the continuation should deal with G1 issues and be a G1 comic not a Beast Wars Comic , I'd just like to see some of these ideas explored and fleshed out some more so that we have some answers but if they were to even be mentioned, I wouldn't expect them to be seen/heard until towards the end of it's run seeing as though it's supposed to end with #100 isn't it?

    I hope not.

I'd like to see it do more with the cast available. There's so much there to go on, I'd rather not see them move towards BW. I think some things are best left unknown.

I also think you'd have to leave G2 out of the equation. It worked as a book-end for it all, if you can get past the 90's EXTREMEness of it all.

I certainly wouldn't want the comic to solely focus on Beast Wars or even focus on it, more-so; pepper seeds, mentions and certain key events that happen in the distant past of the Beast War's cast perspective to establish further narrative ties but also to possibly explain certain things.

As stated by Simon Furman, the G2 comics will essentially become a splinter continuity as he won't be continuing on from them but he wont be ignoring certain aspects either, his is supposedly going to be: "What if I didn't have to can it and/or follow Hasbro's Toy Release Schedule?".

This is what I find to be rather exciting as it has quite a few possibilities and since the original G1 Marvel run, he's worked on a number of things but Beast Wars he has stated he wished he could've done more with, this is why I'd like to see some nods in that direction.

After having recently finished reading the entire 80 Issue Marvel US run, I too am very much looking forward to seeing where Furman takes us; regardless as to any inclusion of Beast Wars elements or not.
