I feel for you mate, I work in the IT industry and was out of work for 10 months during the dot com bust back in the early 2000's so understand a bit of how you feel. It's like, you're either over qualified or under qualified ... I also applied for non-IT jobs because I just wanted to find a job (but of course no one would take you if you didn't have the right industry experience).

What IT field are you in, and is there any chance of doing some freelance work ?
