Default Help me decide what gets the 'chop' next

It seems that getting a job, in the IT industry, is going to be harder than it should be (plenty of oppurtunities, and interviews but missing that final last step of being offered the job ..

As a result, I am PLANNING what may need to go from the collection to fund life (rent, food, bills) if the job search continues to be a long drawn out mission (4 months and counting)

At the moment I have listed spare items and items that I wanted to open but haven't, listed Lego, Star Wars and other action figures and haven't yet touched the actual collection. But that may need to change and .. I want help in deciding what line I 'attack' first.

No matter how you tackle this dude, it is going to be a bloody hard decision so I would say; look at what you have, decide which you like the least and consider parting with it.
No doubt that'll be hard, probably because everything you have left you like - But that's how I'd tackle it.

This is probably a bit off the topic but...maybe consider job hunting in Australia? Would be more opportunities and better chances here. of course depends on how easy/hard it is for you to move here in the first place.

The trim in 2009 was hard enough ..
Trimming it back even first will be painfull.

I do have an idea myself of the direction I want to go .. but ..

There was an interesting story on 20/20 or 60 Minutes about that the other day actually. Australia is not as good as it once was and if your not a citizen, you are stuffed as you can't get any help at all ..

If I was you I'd hold off as long as possible and hope that you have some luck soon. Also have you considered getting a job in a different industry until a IT place opens up? just so you can pay your bills and not have to sell the collection you've obviously spent so much time building.

Now to your question I agree with what hursticon said but you also have to consider what will bring in the most money and the quickest. A few years ago when I decided I wasn't happy with my G1 collection I sold off some of it and turned over $2,000 in 8 days and that was before all the movie hype drove the prices up. So imo your G1 toys will bring the most money but will probably have the most sentimental value and be the hardest to part with.

Its off topic but I'm curious did you collect the unicron trilogy?

I agree with everything said above,

Your least favorite, it all looks good for making money if it's MISB, you're also going to want to replace it again in the future so maybe don't sell the stuff you know is super hard to find.

I too would be looking at some sort of work in another industry, even if it's working at a department store, I did that after uni for a while before I got my first engineering job.

to answer your question though, I'd be moving on beast wars (if that's what you mean by beasties), it seems to be having a resurgence in popularity at the moment, personally I have no interest so I wouldn't be worried about getting them back and they should sell well.

Just my personal opinion, sell any vintage that you can get the reissues for. They're basically the same thing except the date stamp and the need to tell others you've got the originals.

I'm a bit the opposite . I'd be selling your re-issues and encores before any original G1 stuff. but I'd probably get rid of beast stuff before anything else on your list.
Depends on how much money you need I guess

well original G1s would be hard to track down the line again if you ever want to re acquire em. So, go for reissue instead to sell off first.
