Question What are your favourite toys of each of these Series?

For each of the following series, list your favourite 5-10 toys.

Each has some links to lists if you're not sure if the ones you have in mind count. (you don't have to list favourites for every series if you don't have any interest in a particular series)

You can even give *brief* comments on why you like certain toys, as well as mention if you prefer the JP or US versions (if they are different).

    Gen1 - can include JP Gen1 & reissues

    Alternator/Binaltech/Kissplay/Alternity

    Gen2

Beast Wars - can include JP Neo, JP II, JP Metals, & reissues

    Beast Machines

    Robots in Disguise/Car Robots

    Armada/Micron Legend

    Energon/Superlink

    Cybertron/Galaxy Force

    Animated

Classic-verse/Henkei/Generations/Universe2/etc (it's up to you as to what you think counts)

    Movie-verse

    Masterpiece - US & JP

Ok here goes. I'm also including pre-TFs as well as some of those weren't made into G1

Pre-TFs: MC-18 Magneman. The gimmick is inspired while it manages to also shrink down the basic design of Soundwave at the same time. Simply brilliant.

Gen1: All the Turbomasters and Predators (I'm naming 12 here- deal with it ). They managed to take the G1 toyline in Hasbro distribution markets and breathe enough life into it to give us G2. The line has intelligent gimmicks and great designs with classic styling.

If it wasn't for this line coming out, I probably would have walked away from Transformers at age 12.

Alternator/Binaltech/Kissplay/Alternity - Tracks and Hound. Both designs managed to stay true to the G1 originals but

Gen2: Dreadwing, Tank Megatron and Laser Rod Prime. All 3 are simply brilliant in their designs.

Beast Wars - Polar Claw and Optimal Optimus.

Robots in Disguise/Car Robots - Mach Alert, Speedbreaker, Brave Max, Omega Prime, JRX, Build King. So many brilliant toys in the line. Another line where I have to list more than a select few.

    Armada/Micron Legend - Overload

Energon/Superlink - Optimus Prime, Wing Saber and Omega Supreme - the most awesome Sentai style toy to ever grace a Transformers line.

Cybertron/Galaxy Force - Cybertron Defense Team. They're not a homage of any kind and manage to hold their own as original characters and toys brilliantly.

Animated - N/A (never really grabbed me- Ultra Magnus if I had to pick one)

Classic-verse/Henkei/Generations/Universe2/etc - Prowl, Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Megatron, Seekers, Jetfire, Wheeljack. Brilliant Homages all round.

Movie-verse - Bludgeon and Seaspray (purely because they belong in the Classics line)

Masterpiece - US & JP - Masterpiece Magnus (he's not really ultra without his trailer ).

I just realised we could pick up to ten in each series, so I added some more!

    Gen1
Autobot Car Jazz - purely biased, I have relatively little interest in other G1s
Ravage - I want to give a special mention to ravage though because when I was nine I had an upsized orange and yellow knock off ravage that I took everywhere. So the original has got to be just as good, right?

    Alternator/Binaltech/Kissplay/Alternity
    BT Meister (white)
    Alternators Prowl
Alternity (Brilliant White Pearl) Ultra Magnus - the only one I've opened, displays great in both modes.
    Alternity Super Black Convoy
    Alternity Diamond Black Megatron

    Gen2
    Jazz
    Cyberjet Space Case
    Cyberjet Hooligan
    Turbomaster Hurricane
    Sky Scorcher Terradive

    Beast Wars
    Terrorsaur
    BWN Hydra -pretty colours!

    Cybertron/Galaxy Force
    Repugnus

    Animated
Bumblebee - just fun to transform, also one of my first tfs.
    Takara Rodimus
    Ultra Magnus
    Jazz
    Blurr

    Oilslick
    Arcee
    Swoop
    Sideswipe
    Drag Strip

    Classic-verse
    RtS Jazz
    Classics Jetfire
    Universe 2.0 Cyclonus
Henkei Megatron - hands down, my favourite Megatron, it just looks great.
    Classics Mirage

    Henkei Smokescreen
    Classics Rodimus
    Henkei Sideswipe (Lambor)
    Universe 2.0 Inferno
    Universe 2.0 Hound

    Movie-verse
    NEST Lockdown
    NEST Bludgeon
    ROTF Knockout (scout)
    Smokescreen (ROTF Skystalker repaint)
JP Tomahawk - I only like the JP version better because of the darker grey plastic lol.

    Human Alliance Jazz
    DOTM Space Case
    Arcee
    ROTF Breacher (Scout)
    DOTM Sandstorm

    Masterpiece
    JP Skywarp
    JP Grimlock
    JP MP04 Convoy with trailer

The original 1984 G1 Jazz toy is a really well designed figure for the standards of its day. If you like the engineering of that toy, I'd recommend checking out other Transformers that came from the Diaclone Car Robot series, like 1984 Optimus Prime and the 1984-85 Autobot cars, oh, and Ultra Magnus too.

It was toys like these that blew our socks off when Transformers first came out in the 1980s and really laid the foundation for what the Transformers franchise is today.

    Generation 1:
    • Decepticon, Headmaster - Scorponok
    • Decepticon, Constructicon - Devastator
    • Autobot, Powermaster - Optimus Prime
    • Decepticon - Soundwave + Mini-Cassettes
    • Decepticon - Cyclonus

    Beast Wars:
    • Predacon, Transmetal 2 - Megatron
    • Predacon - Tripredacus
    • Maximal - Optimus Primal "Blackjack"
    • Predacon - Magmatron
    • Predacon, Transmetal 2 - Dinobot II

Unicron Trilogy (Because I have a number from that era but not enough to quantify individual lists... ):
    • Unicron
    • Primus
    • Autobot - Omega Supreme
    • Decepticon - Tidalwave
    • Decepticon - Soundwave

    Classicsverse:
    • Decepticon - Cyclonus
    • Decepticon - Scourge
    • Decepticon - Lugnut
    • Autobot - Optimus Prime
    • Decepticon - Soundwave (WFC)

    Movieverse:
    • Autobot - Optimus Prime (ROTF/Leader Class)
    • Decepticon - Bludgeon
    • Decepticon - Mindwipe
    • Decepticon - Soundwave (ROTF/Preview)
    • Autobot - Sentinel Prime (Leader Class)

    Masterpiece:
    • Autobot - Optimus Prime (MP-04)
    • Autobot - Grimlock (Hasbro)
    • Decepticon - Megatron (MP-05)
    • Decepticon - Skywarp (Hasbro)
    • Decepticon - Starscream (Hasbro)

Believe it or not, this was actually quite a hard task as these lists can very likely explode in length if I were to not limit myself to 5 each - I am quite happy, however, that I can say that I own at least 1 great example from each of the lines listed, unfortunately though I don't necessarily own 5 or more figures from each to be able to quantify a list; such is the case for:
    • Generation 2
    • Beast Machines
    • Robots in Disguise
    • Alternators

By the way, which series does Power Core Combiners belong to? (Movie Classics or it's own?)

They are their own series... but some figures would appear to be inspired by Gen1 toys, if people are inclined to include homage toys into their form of Classic-verse.
