Default Transformers Legacy - new boxart book

An update from the news out of BotCon, relating to Jim Sorenson's new book - Legacy: The Box Art of The Transformers.

The book aims to cover all of the Gen1 & Gen2 US and Japanese (including eHobby) releases, and as much of the European releases he can find
The book will also contain artist interviews, vintage and unused art, production sketches, and more.

Jim Sorenson is the one behind the two Ark books and the two Animated Almanac books, so there is a certain standard and comprehensiveness expected here that the long-time fans should hopefully enjoy.

As "complete" as this book is aiming to be, there are a number of things he is still chasing up (especially the European stuff, which we got down here). Check out this link to see what he is after, and contact him if you think you can help. Or check out Jim's blog for updates.

Doesn't botchthecrab have a comprehensive archive of box art? (including JP and EU stuff)

I'm a huge fan of box art and may pick this up if it's any good. I realise Botch would already have most if not all of the scans, but I'm more interested having it in print.

This is a definite pickup if it ever gets printed!

Yeah same here, but I meant maybe Jim Sorensen could perhaps use Botch's scans for his book. <shrug> I'd definitely get this book too. It'd be really kewl if someone printed a book with scans of all G1 tech specs.

In the comments of Jim's blog post on the subject he mentions he's been in contact with botch already.

Some have been reprinted even if they were unauthorised. Transformers Vault also included an insert of 5 character tech specs printed all on the one sheet (I realise you already knew that - mentioned more for the benefit of others who weren't aware).

This is exciting news. Apart from the actual toys, I really looked forward to the back boxart as a kid.

As I've expressed on Jim's Blog, I honestly can't wait for this seriously cool project; Just like many others I really dig the G1 era artwork that accompanied the toyline so to have both a printed hardcopy and a digital soft copy (Courtesy of Botch & co) of my favourite pieces is such an awesome prospect, I can't possibly wish this endeavour more luck than I already have!
