Would have to agree there, I'd prefer the Clones to be slightly more substantive than their G1 counterparts myself.

Why does it feel like 3rd parties are giving their toys growth hormones, Gigapower Snarl is taller than Masterpiece Grimlock and MP-10. there are a number of other examples as well

The problem is MP08 (Grimlock) is undersized when scaled against all Masterpieces from MP10 Optimus Prime to present. In the G1 cartoon, Prime only came up to Grimlock's chin. The Dinobots should be massive and these 3rd party Masterpiece Dinobots are looking to reflect that.
Any figure that comes with swords demands wrist articulation.

Those legs do seem a bit bigger than I'd expect, but its hard to judge overall size without a torso. Still even if they were a similar height to MP Sideswipe that would put them on the small Voyager scale.
Seems like 3rd partys are using old Hasbro scale when deluxe's were bigger, while Hasbro deluxe toys are shrinking.
