I'd say the latter.
It's a massive deal for those of us who grew up with G1.
Yeah, they're not gonna stop releasing Bumblebees any time soon. Just cast your mind back to pre-2007 _before_ people gave a crap about Bumblebee!
Because we all know that HasTak have the moulds (since they used it for Beast Wars (II)'s God Neptune in 1998)... then in 2008 they reissued Piranacon in non-G1 colours (IMO they're just awful - but like them or not, they're not G1 colours), and on top of that the reissue was a limited Club exclusive toy (which are prohibitively expensive for anyone outside North America). And in the last couple of years both Hasbro and TakaraTOMY keep reissuing G1 toys that have _already_ been reissued before (do we really need more Optimus Prime reissues?!?) and yet don't reissue stuff that we know they probably still have the moulds for like Piranacon.
So the news of a proper Piranacon reissue is exciting news for G1 fans.
It's exciting news for me because I've had all the Seacons for ages, but I've never had the gestalt parts for Piranacon (head, fists, feet etc.) - so I've never been able to form Piranacon. I can understand that G1 reissues are probably meaningless to people who didn't grow up with G1, but for those of us who did it's quite exciting.![]()
