Just playing devils advocate here - I wouldn't make it automatic on the number of posts because in my view, that would just encourage board spamming for the sake of earning higher classes without actual contribution. My 2 cents worth.
Although counting quantity is easier and less time consuming (remembering that board staff are volunteers who give up their own free time to maintain our community) So I can see merits either way.
