    Default Ozformers on twitter.

    Just signed up to twitter.
I'm not much of a fan of things like twitter and facebook, but I figured that if it can possibly benefit other fans here, I shouldn't let my own reservations get in the way, and just go and look into it.

    http://twitter.com/ozformers

Basically, I am aiming to post (tweet) news items and new/first sightings that are posted on the board (I will only tweet stuff that is on the board somewhere, so that you can find out any additional info on it).
It will be limited to the news section (Global news, AUS news, Movie news (perhaps titles only), and Sightings), and any major/significant board issue (like being offline unexpectantly).

Since I new to the whole thing, I'm not going to be much help answering questions about it... hopefully others here who have been twittering can respond to any queries.

What I do know is that when you sign up to twitter, you can have selected accounts (like this one) automatically send a text to your phone, when a tweet has been submitted. Otherwise, the link above will have all the tweets archived (although, a regular viewer of this board may not see the need to keep track of another website that is essentially posting whatever is here anyway). I think the main benefit will be the sightings (if it doesn't look like it is being used by toyscalpers).

Being new to Twitter will mean it might take me a little while working it out and getting used to using it.
And I will have to see if later, I can have other people able to access it and post up messages (tweets).

Though I'm not a twitter user myself, and I'm increasingly getting over the whole Facebook thing, I probably wont make any use of this.

I would like to say though Griffin that your initiative on adding to the functionality of the forum and the OZFormers community at large, should be acknowledged and appreciated as I think it is a very good thing that you do.

It'll be interesting to see how well this venture is adopted and used by the other members.

Twitter newbies, do not have accounts send text messages to your phone. This will cost you money and really isn't needed. Most people with smartphones will have someway they can access Twitter (through an application or through a webportal). Otherwise people can use their accounts in their regular internet browsers.

You don't use twitter to follow one site, you use it to follow updates from many friends, websites, celebs, newsmakers, random strangers, whoever. and it can be quite useful.

I currently followed Seibertron http://twitter.com/seibertroncom but I never visit the actual website unless something on twitter makes me want to find out more, such as when a new TF Mosaic is published.

Griffin I'd recommend you following that site and some of the other TF news sites, to get a feel for how often they publish and how twitter works.

To get you started here's some tweets you could post.

Okay, I'll have a look at theirs then.
Since there are global TFs news twitters existing, I don't want to be duplicating too much of the non-AUS stuff, so the focus on ours is likely to be AUS news and sightings.
But it does seem that the older demographic of TFs fans, is not much into the Twitter concept that the younger generations have embraced, so when I get into using it, I'll see if there is enough demand for it after a while of testing it.

hmmm no twitter account, Facebook I signed up but not much into it, although everytime I log in a lot off people are asking to be added as friends ( usually old classmates) so I just add, add and add. But yeah, not much into it though I do browse FB from time to time , I mostly went for it for the Farmville game application heheheh

I post Sunshine Coast Sightings, the occasional Brisbane sighting and itfdb news and updates at twitter.com/itfdb

Anyone I follow from that account is TF related and might be of interest to others. I have a different account for non-TF stuff.

I don't follow any of the big sites like Seibertron as I get their updates via RSS/Google Reader

I think I'm getting the hang of it... hopefully.

After adding a few of the global news sites, and other related news sources to my 'follow list', it really would be duplication tweeting about global news (items already appear on my own listing multiple times). So it's just recommended to follow one of theirs and ours (which will just be AUS news and first sightings - which the global news sites don't cover).

It'll just minimise the amount of time/resources on something that isn't expected to have too many followers anyway (even if I did include global news items).
