    Weird mixture of disposable income, nerds and nationalism. If Japanese DVD/Bluray were too expensive to be bought they would have come down in price a long time ago, but I guess it seems to work for them? Pretty ridiculous though.

    The rental market is till pretty strong in Japan as well. Although I am still not entirely sure how many people buy DVDs/Blurays etc.

    I think Ploughman's lunch has a fairly good summary of the reasons why there.

    From previous experience, is there any chance of it being sold as a stand alone figure down the track? Maybe for less than $150.

    RobotKingdom is doing it for $149 with the Blu-Ray.
