Before Hasbro entered the French market with Transformers in 1985, the company Joustra had a license with Takara to release the Transformers toys in 1984 & 1985 under the Diaclone label, but not related to the Japanese Diaclone series.

The Japanese Diaclone had the robots as lifeless constructs operated by drivers, but the French Diaclone were alien robots, and included Japanese toys/characters that were not taken up by Hasbro in their Transformers toyline (the vehicles that don't have robot modes, a 14-vehicle combiner like Voltron, and the Waruders that were homaged at this years BotCon).

Each toy came with a mini-comic, and there were 10 in total that made up a complete story.
The full 10 parts can be seen here, and translated. (it auto-plays through the pages, so just click on the arrows at the top of the image to scroll through at your pace)

The fun thing is seeing various "Autobot" toys as evil, and various "Decepticon" toys as good guys.

(apparently Maz translated most of it before, but this one has everything translated, and placed in the comic to make it easy to read)
