I achieved what I thought would be impossible, run for 6.5km in 1 session. And I feel GOOD!!!
Good stuff SkyWarp!
I've started walking about 4 km's per day and given up smoking after 12 yrs. It's been almost 2 weeks without one and I feel great. No cravings at all.

Well done on the walking dude as that will get your heart going quite well but an even bigger congratulations on your quitting of Smoking! :D
Once one gets past the cravings, it really does get easier and easier and your right about feeling better - Less coughing, less laboured breathing and a feeling of more energy!
Keep up your strong efforts dude, every day is a step in a better direction. ;)

I ordered a pair of Adidas Supernova Glide 3 (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/adidas-supernova-glide-3-shoes/). This site is great. Most of their deals are about half of what you'd expect to pay at retail.

I too found it to be quite easy once you're able to get passed the mental barrier, the physical addiction sucks for a bit but if you can get your mind to break free of the habit - The physical is a push over. ;)

Ah, yeah for me it was 9 years but I too am glad that I did quit. :)
A much better choice for the long run but i feel lucky honestly because I've met people who've been trying to quit over a 20 year period and never successfully manage to. :o

Haven't posted in awhile since I have been insanely busy (and Ultra Magnus has disappeared off the face of the earth)...
... I heard from a shop-owner the other day about how there are these string of shops that have the 7 G1 TFs I need from my signature in Osaka...
... told my wife...
... and 2 days later, she tells me that she has booked me a flight (business class!) and a hotel smack in the middle of the toy shopping district in Osaka, for this weekend... :D:D:D
... she said, 'go get 'em!'
I don't say it enough - my wife is a fantastic girl!

Woot, finally have our wedding date set in stone. Been tentative for a while, but now that we have booked and paid for our reception venue, it's now set.
Oh and a cool thing we have bought for our wedding toast (and only used on each anniversary) is this pair of Dragon glasses (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250729977980&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT). Fiance saw and fell in love with them, so we scoured the web to find them, and found them on Ebay US. Pretty neato I reckon. (anyone who knows us or been to our house would know we love dragons/skulls/mythical stuff :D)

Today, I got an email from Eric Holmes, the writer of Megatron Origin (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Megatron_Origin).
He basically commended my blog-site as a good resource and said that he enjoyed my analysis of the Megatron Origin storyline and was glad that I picked up so many of the G1-references that he put in there.
Really, really made my day. My wife is very happy that my site has (amongst other things) facilitated such a connection with the TF community.
I am thinking of taking this opportunity to ask him about Megatron Origin and some of the things I was not very clear on and what he would have done, why he did certain things, etc. Are there any things any one feels should be asked? (not guaranteeing an answer, but since he started a conversation, I'd really like to know more!).

BotCon was a lot of fun! Great way to finish the US part of my trip: an overdose of TransFandom. Enjoyed getting to know more people and sharing the weekend with them all. Didn't spend too much but did have to post three packages home as I managed to get 18 items from my list of things I wanted to get on this trip. :D
Now to catch up on sleep on the flight to London.

I am SO SO SO HAPPY right now.
Received a call from the Operational Support manager just after 7.30. Accepting my resignation, no need to come in as planned tomorrow (Wednesday) as they will pay me out until the 1st July.
What he said next made me so happy - in the resignation I mentioned I could no longer work in a place that allowed harassment and bullying - they conducted the investigation by asking my manager and they accepted his answer.
So glad I am finally out ...
2 weeks until I am unemployed and broke ..
Anyone got some job leads? (Yes I am considering moving to AU)
Until then I have plenty of action figures and Transformers to sell :D

There is heaps of jobs out there depending on what you do (at least in Sydney & Melbourne). Sounds like you had a lucky escape to me & you will be better served with another company.
Good luck with the hunt for a new job but I am sure you will find the right one.
I have the final interview for my (hopefully) new job tomorrow. A 3 hour interview/assesment & having to give a presentation to a board is a bit daunting.

Congratulations!

So, today I had a Job Network appointment. They want - as in are demanding - that I attend 2 weeks Intensive Job Training for 4 hours every day, where I will presumably learn all sort of useful things like not to swear at the receptionist when you go for job interviews and how to write resumes ('cos with my multiple uni degrees, one in communications, and my small-business-owner parents growing up I wouldn't know that stuff, and would have forgotten it from all the previous IJT sessions), starting next Monday.
In the meantime I fly out to start my new job as an assistant language teacher in Izumi city, Osaka, next Saturday, and so need to spend next week moving to stay with my sister in Butler, picking up a heap of Yen, my Visa, my ticket etc in Perth, closing down my AU bank accounts, and thoroughly washing all my clothes after living in a run-down dive with a pair of daily pot-smokers (I don't partake of it myself) for the past few months, before I head through four different major airports. I told the morons at [Retards-R-Us]* Employment Mirrabooka all of this but if I don't attend it anyway my Newstart allowance will be cut off and a noncompliance notice lodged against me - you're allowed up to three a year before you get cut off, though it might be as little as one these days, I don't know. They last for one year.
So, why is this in the Joy thread?
Because I lodge my last Newstart form for at least the next few years, and hopefully forever, on this Friday.:D
Less than two weeks and no more crippling poverty and no more dealing with bloody Centrelink for years! Sure, book me in for the next two weeks, dumkopf! Hell, book me in for all day every day for the next month! I look forward to never ever seeing you again, enjoy your soul-destroying pen-pushing bureacratic wankfest job while I'm off doing the job of my dreams!:p
God I hope they call me to demand to know why I haven't shown up on Monday...I'll laugh so hard I'll have even more washing to do.
Apologies to anyone here stuck behind the desk in the system btw, I know it's not your fault and it's just the system etc etc, but it's all so petty and stupid and soon I'll be free, FREE!:D

My Macbook Pro from 2008 started getting kernel panics and all kinds of weird sh-t a few months back.
I finally decided on getting a new one (the perfect excuse to get one past the wife!), and it shipped today!
I then formatted the old one & took it to the Apple store... and as i had suspected, it was a problem with the Nvidia graphics card, a problem that is covered for glorious FREE, even 2.5 years out of warranty :)
So, now i will have my perfect clutter-free setup at home, & can finally retire my bulky old PC into the cupboard, all without agitating the wife! :D

Actually it was a bit more than rather nice. It was actually rather "better see the bank on Monday" nice. :D

Some just very high expectations. I know an honor student who had 96 and most of the colleagues had 99 and just devastated about it.
It just depend on background, family history, school, etc.
I never heard of being a "C" student is good enough until I came here. Normally you are aspiring for "A" grades.

For me, if I ever really want something - I'll strive for it, but I've never placed unrealistic expectations on myself - Kidding yourself is only going to lead to a worse outcome. :)

If you gave it your best, then that's fine. :)
On the women issue, that's a bit of more a complex situation than comparing to studies :D. There's no correlation.
Coming from a third world country, we strive to do good in school and have a chance at getting in one of the better universities (maybe even a scholarship). It increases the chances of getting a good job after you finish and get your degree.
Graduates are everywhere but why would an employer choose you out of thousands of more applicants fresh from school. Or at least that's the mindset of parents. :) If you are after a white collar job.
Now if you want to be a farmer, mechanic, athlete, others - then being the best in school probably won't matter.

First shot, blocked by a hand, won us a penalty. 1-1
Ten minutes from time, holding off two defenders I volley it into the bottom corner on the slide. 2-1.

the biddiing iexperience was OK, there was only one other bidder and she didn't really seem to know what she was doing. the agents were in her ear a lot and I feel that if she had stuck to her guns we might have saved $10 - $15 K but I still think we paid a resonable price, not a bargain but it's our mortgage now so a few grand here or there doesn't matter.

Furman may have once said 'it never ends', but I wish th0se two stories didn't come to an end. (and I don't think #81 will follow what Furman originally had planned, so it feels more like a semi-reboot to me)

Hmm, that's a fair point as I would agree that with time he probably has reconsidered it's direction; whether this is for better or for worse?, guess we'll have to wait and see. :o
I do wonder which writing approach he'll employ with it though?; the modern way or the old fashioned way?

Since he won't be bound by Hasbro's toy release schedule, it allows him to radically change the direction of the story, from the Nucleon-Last Autobot-Return to Earth storyarc he was deep into at the time (which I wanted to see played out, to see where he was originally taking it).
I guess at the time the Gen1 comic ended, we were already at the end of the Gen1 toyline, so I'm not sure what new toys/characters he would have started introducing after Hasbro were done releasing Micromasters & Actionmasters.

That's a very good point, the fact that it was tied to the toy line release schedule, as I had completely overlooked that so I suppose that he could go one of 2 ways:
Introduce new characters from the Japanese G1 cast.
Go back and fill in or correct various plot holes or unexplained/elaborated cast members.
...Or, he could combine both options; however one wants to think about it, it's really going to be interesting and exciting to see just what exactly he is going to do huh?

I can think of a certain line that I'd love to see him introduce... :p:D

Dapto and Wollongong are to be the recipients of the next stage of the NBN rollout! :D:cool:
Now hopefully more businesses will have some certainty here, growing the I.T. sector and hence create a larger jobs market for the region! ;):)

I haven't seen a good horror movie since Steven King's It and Pet Cemetary... I liked the ads for PA3 enough to want to go see it too. But want to see the first two first, just in case it is necessary.

Oh man, how much of a classic is Pet Cemetary! Judd is an absolute legend, one of my favourite horror characters for sure. :D
I can't believe you haven't seen the other two PA movies Griffin! Despite PA3 being a prequel to the previous two movies, I highly recommend watching the movies in order. To do otherwise would totally destroy the mystery and dampen the scare factor (which is amplified considerably in this latest installment). If you like this series you simply must check out the Spanish films Rec and Rec 2, they are equally amazing (and even more terrifying, especially the sequel).

Thought i lost 2, and then 3 gaming magazines from the late 90's. Was hell pissed and almost started to believe i must have thrown them out....
Then, finally found them, buried under a mountain of TF backing cards in a box!
Especially happy cause i found there were about 10 more mags in there too, that i would have eventually wondered what the hell i'd done with them!
