So during the 90s here in Perth I used to follow this local industrial/goth band called CSU - was one of the few at their first show - and even bought their first album.
It was on cassette and sadly has not stood the test of time. I dug it out last week, gave it a play and dreamed about getting it transferred to CD one day.
To relieve the tedium of work today I did a random google of the band... and found my favourite track as an MP3!!!
Quick - to the downloader!!!! :D
edit: oh my giddy aunt I think I just found the whole album! I know it's not unusual for music to be put on the webs but this is a cassette-only release from an obscure Perth band.
Oh internets... is there nothing you don't have? >hugs<
that's really cool, glad you were able to dig that up. I have an old cd I picked up supporting a jazz group at the manly jazz festival years ago, and I mean YEARS, only last year I figured out that this band "the Jazz Cats" was the precursor to "the Cat Empire" I still have that disk and keep more care with it than I used to.:D
New thing with a girl....can only *** it up from here!!! Hope I go alright new tentative steps:o:(
Good Luck.

Lol. Our wedding invitations were bought from a newsagent in Wollongong. If I recall correctly $14 was the total cost. I'm pretty sure that included envelopes as well :D
Wedding planning is an oh so joyous time, watching all that money leap out of your bank account. And I had a cheap one! Thankfully I only plan on doing it once.

My bro is going to Japan next year! I CAN GET MY ENCORE OMEGA!!!!
Any other TFs that I can get cheaper in Japan?
GoktimusPrime
8th December 2012, 04:11 PM
You can get a lot of Transformers cheaper if you know where to shop, and especially if there's a sale and/or if you have access to a store membership card (I use my friend's member card when I bought some TFs at Yodobashi Camera). You can also haggle at Hero Gangu in Osaka to get prices down (assuming your brother can speak Japanese ;)). But even if you get a TF at RRP it can save you the cost of postage if your brother can bring them back with him in his luggage. Mind you... with Encore Omega Supreme, he's not gonna have much space for much else. :p One way to save on luggage space is to ditch the packaging. What I did was flatten the boxes I wanted to keep, threw out the trays/blisters, and with the boxes I didn't want to fully keep I just cut out the packaging art and chucked the rest. That saved a LOT of space (but even then, we ended buying an extra luggage case in Kyoto to fit all the stuff my wife and I were buying in Japan! :p :o)
Bidoofdude
8th December 2012, 09:07 PM
I'm not sure on luggage space, but it will probably be a lot. It's not that heavy, is it?
SuspectimusPrime
8th December 2012, 11:07 PM
I'm not sure on luggage space, but it will probably be a lot. It's not that heavy, is it?
It can get heavy quite quickly, since each deluxe fig weighs around 250-350grams, and with the goal of saving big is to buy as many as you can get.
A good measure is to see how many you out of packaging deluxes will take to make 1kg, so you'll be guestimate a weigh limit/budget for your bro.
Bidoofdude
9th December 2012, 09:54 AM
Is it possible to put Encore Omega(in box) in a huge plastic bag and take him as carry on?:D I should be able to figure it out. I would probably have the box flattened and the foam disposed of. Probably the only way. It's a shame, coz I would really like to keep the insert.

9th December 2012, 02:15 PM
As long as you don't have a big carry-on bag, you should be able to take it intact onto the plane.
On my last trip to America, I brought onto the plane the Kreo Devastator Vs Ironhide set (http://www.toycollectors.com.au/1209c.jpg)because it was too big for my check-in box, and I didn't want to destroy/damage the Kreo box. But I got there early enough to repack its contents into my backpack if they stopped me.
If you keep your backpack really small and insignificant looking, they shouldn't have a problem with the size of the toy box (even though they say that carry-on items should fit in that small guide-frame at the departure gates). It's only a thin box, so if you carry it under your arm like a book (to not draw attention to it), and stick it flat in the over-head compartment (and make sure nothing too heavy sits on it), you should be able to keep the fancy box intact.
Dimensions -
Kreo box I got on with no one questioning me - 61 x 36 x 9
Reissue Omega Supreme box - 55 x 37 x 9
(it might be more eye-catching to draw attention to it, but is smaller than the one I took on board, so shouldn't be a problem)
BUT - just get to the airport with enough time to to unpack the contents into your backpack if for some reason the check-in desk attendant says you can't take it on. (ask CASUALLY if it is okay) This way, you have a back-up plan if for some reason they say no.
Considering the size of stuff I've seen people take on the plane, you shouldn't have a problem if your other item (backpack) isn't too big (remember, you are needing to leave enough space in your backpack to repack the toy and folded up box if they say no... which will make it small enough to be okay).
(perhaps even wrap it in paper or plastic wrap too, to protect it from scuffing... and make sure you don't put batteries in it before you fly)

:) Thanks! Yes he does... I know I said I was going to post pics on the weekend but I got too busy, and then yesterday I didn't feel well (runny nose etc.) - but I'm better today! So hopefully I'll post something up tonight. It'll be pics of different views of the box mainly since it's MISB - not as exciting as a loose toy I know but still. :D

I bet he will look just as awesome in box, as most G1 toys do. I imagine the box is in alright condition, for him to be kept MISB. I've really been trying to knuckle down on Shockwave, but I'm just not finding any.
Honestly, I think a chingmung KO is the best for me, as I do excessive play often.

Thanks again Suspectimus! He wouldn't be mine today if it weren't for your help. :)

Congrats. I like that mould, it's very nice. Transformation as intuitive as you'd think, IIRC, the only awkard spot is folding/unfolding the legs as the arms can get in the way sometimes

Thanks! Do you have a Cybertron Voyager Starscream? Or a SG Starscream? I really love the SG theme so this toy's another really special one for me. :o
Ok so, I've downloaded the transformation instructions and it looks fairly easy - not too many complicated steps.

lol... yeah, it should be. There's more than enough land (a little more than 3/4 acre) so even if there's not enough room in the existing house we can always put a few extra outbuildings and storage sheds, etc. on there (which we plan to do anyway).
It's a huge relief for us and now I can't wait for the whole deal to be finalized.

Thanks UM! Hehe, actually my budget for toy purchases will only be a little less after all the initial moving and set up expenses are over, and that's only because I can now think about starting up my own business from home (which I have been wanting to do for a very long time but never had the space). :D
I won't have a dedicated collection room straight away, but I will have the opportunity to get one built now that we have land. But I will definitely have more storage space for them at least.

Awesome to be home after 3 weeks globetrotting. :)
Belated honeymoon for the wife and I took us to Rome, Florence, Venice, Paris and Hong Kong. It was our first time overseas so was massively exciting. Saw some fantastic things and met some great people.
Rome was by my favourite, followed closely by Venice.
Speaking of Rome, My wife found a shop there that sold quite a decent range of TFs. It was great:) If I wasn't on a very strict time limit I could have spent hours in there even though it was a tiny shop. Anyway I picked myself up a couple of 3rd party items after some haggling, an iGear MP Ramjet and a MMC HoS Thundercracker.

Here (http://www.japanworld.it/) is their website. If you're ever in Rome, I recommend you have a look. Their English is pretty much non-existant though. We caught a taxi there from the Vatican museum, had him wait for us out the front for 20 minutes, then drive us back to our hotel, on the other side of Rome, all for 25 euro.
The only downside to the whole holiday was that I got sick in Hong Kong. Feeling like you have been hit by a bus does not make for a pleasant flight home :(

Speaking from very recent experience (and believe me I could go on and on and on), it's such an enormous undertaking. I was wrecked after spending a week moving (albeit a week that ended with Tough Mudder, so that probably contributed;)). I have no clue how people move house in a day. I've already vowed to spend whatever money I need to to get someone to move for me next time - hopefully not for a good many years yet.
Best of luck. If you need packing boxes, we have heaps (these particular boxes helped a friend of ours move internationally, so they're sturdy enough to survive a shipping container:cool:)

As some of you know, in mid-August 2011 I lost my Transformers Generations Deluxe book. For those who may not know, this book is essentially the Bible of G1/G2 TFs! So I was shattered when I came home from the meet without it, convinced that I'd lost it outside. :( I've been severely missing this book for the last year and a half -- I've asked people in Japan to keep a look out for this book, including on Japanese online stores like Amazon, but to no avail. When I was in Japan, I kept an eye out for this book, but didn't see any. :( But today I just randomly found it in the cupboard under the stairs! :D

When I was in Japan, I kept an eye out for this book, but didn't see any. :( But today I just randomly found it in the cupboard under the stairs! :D

Nice find! Just like a new one :D You could write your name and number in it but it wont help if you leave it under a cupboard again :p
Just got in a small parcel from overseas - It was advertised as a vintage Twincast with box but one of the cassettes included didn't quite belong. So I hit the buynow and crossed my fingers. It was an autobot but not steeljaw!! Pics to come in the weekend. :D:D Very happy Indeed. :D:D

Just remember that you don't have to be constantly acquiring new TFs to be involved in this hobby. I've been collecting TFs as an adult for around 10 years now but there have been periods of years where I didn't buy a TF. (Which I appear to be making up for now):o

I had a gas-boosted solar hot water service at a previous residence, and only had the gas booster switched on about 4 months of the year. The only gas we used was the stovetop and oven, so I once had a quarterly bill of about $15. Renewable energy FTW!:D

As I was the only one in the pool, floating on my back while looking up at the clouds turn from orange to purple to grey, I had one of those calming moments where I realised what a beautiful and awesome world we live in.
If you don't already, I strongly encourage you to get out and see it. It's right outside your door.:)

Hehe, wow!
I've been getting back into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_mutant_ninja_turtles) of late, largely due to the new Nickelodeon Cartoon series (http://turtles.nickelodeon.com.au/) and partly due to picking up & listening to 'What The Shell: The 1st TMNT Podcast (http://whattheshell.podbean.com/)'. ;)
I probably haven't been into TMNT this much since I was a kid with the original 80s series (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0vYJ3qeytM), so much so that (When I can organise the funds ) I'm looking to pickup the TPBs of IDW's current TMNT Ongoing series & possibly their 'Mirage Comics' Reprints (http://shop.idwpublishing.com/comics/series/tmnt.html) - The new figures (http://www.youtube.com/user/KalELofKrypton87/videos?flow=grid&view=0) are a delight too. :D
Anywho... I'd mentioned all this in conversation with my parents and today my Mother informed me she had been digging around through some old photo albums, finding a pair of photos I haven't seen in many years!:p
These were taken circa 1989-90, when the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & April O'Neil' came to visit Westfield Warrawong Shopping Centre:

I had to sell pretty much all my DVDs and games in the lead-up to Christmas after losing both my partner and I losing our jobs in September, to cover bills, rent etc.
I'd gotten a few (Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, Redline, Ponyo, Shaun of the Dead, etc) back, but today I went to Cash Convertors and they still had the Beast Wars complete set I sold them. For $45, down from $65. And some guy was interested in laybuying it, so he went back downstairs to do whatever he had to do with a TV, and I snagged it up!
So, whoo! I have Beast Wars again, and it was mine all along! And the complete collection has still only cost me $70 total despite buying it twice! (The first time I got it at Borders for $30.)

I saw Richie Ramone, the Living End, Kings of Chaos (Sebastian Bach, guys from the Gunners, Deep Purple, Def Leppard, Billy Idol's guitarist), Barnesy - & the big guns - Aerosmith & Van Halen! Oh what a night! My ears are still ringing today! :D

My vision has finally returned to such a level that I'm now able to read Screens of text for prolonged periods of time without having to have my face 1 inch away from the monitor, squinting, eyes running like taps, causing aches around my eye sockets and headaches within 5-10mins! :D
I've still got to take regular breaks from looking at the screen, about every 30mins or so, but I can at least sit in a normal and comfortable position with my glasses on, actually able to read text on a screen without causing myself grief! :D:D:D
Still a little bit longer to go healing-wise, roughly just past the halfway point, but at least I can somewhat function normally now - just got to refrain from strain. ;)

I... never really got into it. I can't remember most of it after the middle. That song just pisses me off after a iwhile and all i can remember is at some point when this movie was shown somehow somewhere i went and saw ferngully at the cinema. That it. This movie reminds me of watching fergully at the cinema. Wtf. I dunno. I thought playing sonic2 would have drowned it out but no. Ferngully. Could be some loose wires there! Something aint right there.... .... .... .... .... .... 'humans can't feel anything. They're numb from the brain down.'

I love how something as simple as music can change your mood from utterely depressed to wishfully hopeful. Though I'm mainly a metalhead this song just cheers me up and reminds me that the world isn't over and that I should live in the fast lane! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_nziODUGcw)
