Holy Hell..... that's awesome news UM!!!!! :D
so happy for you buddy, you're gonna have your own little instant family!
as far as names go..... its gotta be Optimus & Megatron, yeah? ;) lol
If you're going to have twins, surely there's better names than that.
Say: Skids and Mudflap?

I'm going to be away for a few weeks so my attendance on the board will be a little light.
The reason we're going away for so long is we're going on what's called a babymoon before we do all the Christmas stuff. Apparently it's a thing that people do these days when they're expecting children.
My wife is Pregnant, ... with Twins!! We're so happy, excited and terrified all at the same time, we need to move, buy a pram and a new car with room for two baby seats, and that's just the start. She's at about 22 weeks this week coming and already starting to struggle.
UM that is fantastic news and a heartfelt congratulations to you and your wife!

Enjoy the babymoon, and make sure that your wife gets a massage... she is going to need it
A massive congrats UltraMarginal!! You'll love it!!
Congrats to you and your wife! Apparently the wife also gets a ring when the baby (or babies) is born or so my wife convinced me when we had our first. Enjoy as much sleep as you can get now lol!
Congrats Mr UltraM, I don't know what I'd've done if our first ultrasound had showed that we were having twins, probably fainted. Ours is still in special care, no longer on any machines, saying he could be home for xmas (he's not up to birth weight yet after 10 days, but was only on glucose for the first 2.5). Still not prepared at home, but spending a fair whack of each day there.
As for the ring, I've heard that before, I know for a fact my dad gave my mum one for each kid. Don't tell my wife though !
Akky82, congrats on your new family addition, I hope everything is still going well and you're able to all be at home tomorrow for Christmas day!!

Thank you all so much for the kind wishes and positive vibes!!!!:o I just showed Mrs UltraMarginal and we're both truly touched.
As for names, we have figured out we need to decide on 3 pairs, two boys, two girls and a boy and a girl. just in case. I don't think I'm in for naming after pop culture Icons so I might have to give Skids and Mudflap a miss. Mrs UltraMarginal thinks that Megatron is a horrible girls name!
We've been looking at houses, since we currently live in a flat, but we've just figured out that we need to really start looking at cars, and we need to get a pram first to make sure we pick a car the pram fits in. . .
Anyway, tomorrow is Christmas, many well wishes to everyone on the board and your family and friends, may your holidays however long be enjoyable.

At 0046 and 0053 Our Baby boy and Baby Girl were born this morning at only 33 weeks.
They are both doing well, only needing to have a feeding tube and be in the humidicrib environment. they will be in hospital for several weeks and we'll be there every day to see them.
Mrs UltraMarginal is also doing very well, unfortunately we don't have names yet because they weren't expected this early. We're working on it today.

We named them last Tuesday, Ethan Jasper UltraMarginal and Zoe Hayley UltraMarginal.
Ethan is now out of the humidicrib and they are both feeding and doing very well. I've changed several nappies already on them both, only been peed on once so far. We hope to bring them home in about 4 weeks.
Every day my wife goes in to tend to them and spend time with them, I go straight over after work, and if I get there in time, I get to take temperatures change them before their feed for the evening. I'll be taking some leave when they come home. They are disgustingly cute, I am going to struggle saying no.
Again thank you all for the wonderful words and thoughts

Been on holidays for 2.5 weeks - went to Peru and climbed Machu Picchu via the Inca Trail. The views and more importantly the trek were unforgettable. We were pretty high on oxygen on the final day, and ran through most of the 7km trail. We committed to this 1 year ago and started taking training seriously 6 months ago. Really lucky to have been with a good bunch of friends.

Not sure if many of you heard in the news, the florist at Central station was involved in an attempted robbery last night. Poor guy had a broken bottle put to his throat and ended up with a cut and the perp shot by police and killed. This florist is one of the nicest guys around. Not deterred, he still opened today. I just pulled off a most unthinkable Poker comeback.
I won a ~150 player poker tournament in Wollongong tonight after at one stage being down to my last chip of only $5k when the blinds were already $30k! I joked that I only needed to double up my stack 3 times and I'd be back in the game.
Sure enough I did and after 5 hours I took the 1st prize of $700! It would be close to statistically impossible to come back from that. On such a high now, I don't know how I'm going to get to sleep. It was my first proper poker tournament in 8 years! :D:D

Thanks guys. I used the common poker phrase "I've got a chip and a chair". Today I looked up the origin of that phrase, it was coined by Jack Straus. In 1982 he won the WSOP after being down to his final chip early in the tournament.

Well done, DaptoDog! I was always interested in Poker but I just played with friends before - the usual poker night, beer and feed.
My basketball team won last night :D Everyone played well. There was this player who kept on hacking/illegal screens and I was able to get him to commit an unsportmanlike foul.- made the free throws and had ball possession. Initially thought it was a double foul since I played as physical as he did but he pushed me so hard that the refs saw it :D

How'd I miss that story. Is a nice story UM.
Reminds me of how I met my missus. Was with my then gf when I decided in a month to move to Penrith to be closer to her. 2 weeks out she breaks up with me. I decided I needed a new start anyway so went ahead with it. A week later after a night of alot of drinkin at a pub with my housemate, got back home and jumped on MySpace and saw a friend request from someone local. So I added her. 2 days later we're up talking online until dawn and we'd made plans for her to come over after some sleep and she'd show me around. Instead we stayed in watching first few seasons of Family Guy. Coming up to 11years together and 6 married. I'll be honest, I wouldn't have survived on my own away from my parents if she didn't come along

it's those rare times I accidentally catch a line drive with my leg instead of my glove, or have to slide without warming up properly before the game that really hurt.
were you a catcher? that will destroy your knees.

Warming up wasn't always my strong suit lol.
It was the twisting of my knees when I was in bat that caused my bad knees. At least that's what my footy physio told me. I was a pitcher, and a damn good one too. And outfield too. Alot of running.

I don't enjoy the rain but I am loving the coolness. I hate the heat. Absolutely hate it. Downside is that my Tai Chi classes will probably be cancelled (the downsides to training outdoors in parks), and the Karate Dojo that I recently started training at is doing grading tests this week (which I'm not doing) so... looks like my training schedule's gonna be taking a back seat this week.
Still, sounds like great news for farmers. :) <thumbs up>

Ended up getting another 12ml over that night so 30ml all up. Very welcome indeed, though we need a solid week of rain like that to make even a little difference to the subsoil moisture level. Still, happy to get something at least.

So, my son is edging close to 3 now (in just under a month) and we have been teaching him to ride horses. He has a Shetland Pony which we have been taking to 'horsey shows' for a few weekends and he really seems to love it.
On Sunday we went to one an hour away; have been practising hard for two weeks for it. Since he's only young he is Led around an arena (by me) for the shows until he's independent enough to do it for himself.
We went in with no expectations but he CLEANED UP. We were gobsmacked. He won a ribbon in everything he entered and in the end we came away with 19 ribbons (majority 1sts, some 2nds, one 3rd and one 4th) and this included a Champion Pony ribbon and a Reserve Champion Rider ribbon. He competed in novelty events (like an egg an spoon race on the back of a horse) and he won those too! At the end an announcer told us that we should hang around for presentations; while there he was presented with THREE trophies!! Including the one for most overall points of anyone who competed!! I'll re-iterate, he's not even 3 yet!
We are both super proud parents!

When a collection gets past a certain size, into the multiple hundreds, or more than a thousand, having a house with enough room for display of the entire collection without taking over the entire living space is not practical or in most cases reasonable. I wish it wasn't the case but I doubt I'll ever have my entire collection on display at the same time.
Especially if you both have collections.

Yeah, it will definitely a select few that go on show once we get our place. Affordability here in Vic is nuts so a huge house is not exactly something we can get at the moment. Still, I'm happy that I'm doing all this with her :)
