I did 10 years at perol station(s). Nice job, shame about the customers though. Petrol is a grudge purchase, so many people object to paying for it in the start. Then they usually buy on the way to/from work and allow no time so they will be running late. Then they object to having to wait as everyone else is doing the same. I found the nice people were being drowned out by the prats.

Soul destroying job and I wold do practically any other job to avoid working in one again.

The things that made me laugh though was:
1. Why when customer forgets their wallet, is it MY problem/fault?
2. Apparently I have personal control over the price of the fuel (this was at the tme when Perth's fuel went from 60c/l to 80c/l) and I put it up just before each individual customer came in.

This one was GOLD. Cust. 'bought' 2 disposable cameras from my sevo. 3 weeks later, they return saying they want a refund. I asked why, as we don't refund for the heck of it. Were they broken? Couldn't tell as they were still in packet.
'Why should I refund?' I ask. Because they can buy a real camera at Big W for the same price. I told them we don't price match and perhaps, if Big W opened on a Sunday (when the date of the receipt was) we might price match, but that was unlikely.

Cust: Blah blah blah, rant, rave and a bit of swearing. After the swearing I questioned whether they actually bought the cameras at all. They waggled reciept (which had been through the washing machine at me) More swearing and threats to call consumer affairs.

"why did you buy 3 disposable cameras anyway as you had mentioned that you weren't going anywhere."

more raving and carrying on. Eventually I said that I was not gonna refund the cameras (well I had been saying it the whole time, just this time more definite) and they should leave before I call the police as I didn't appreciate their behaviour to my staff and other customers. They asked to speak to the manager. I told them they were (I loved that one). Evantually they left.

One other time I had an ex-staff member threaten to bash me and run me down in the street if they saw me. Then they would come back to the site and wonder why I would't let their pump work...

I could go on and on, but I won't. To summarise, console operators at servos are generally nice people. Be good to them as buttweeds give them a lot of hassle they don't deserve.
