SkyWarp91: I normally "play" with Telemarketers when they call me (strangely enough, they don't call me no more
). But if I were in that situation where I didn't have time to string them along, I'd just leave the handset on a table -- don't hang up... and that's it. I'd then just go off and have my dinner. Let them talk to thin air and waste
their time and money! Or better yet, put on a Transformers episode or movie or music and let it play into the handset (just say "please hold" and pretend it's your hold audio).
