That's a very novel use for the spare hands. I like your work. Dowel or plastic tube of some sort would be the best options I'd guess.

Primal was never a bot I was gonna pick up due to it not really fitting in with the rest of the collection (even though i watched the series when younger), but while traveling recently I saw it in a shop and thought errr stuff it why not, just to have some toy to muck around while traveling.

Turns out i like it quite a bit and eventually found a place to permanently display him

Agreed. :D I'd like to do something like that myself only with various other versions of Megatron to show the steps between transformation (from largest to smallest) - so I'd probably start with MP5 in regular robot mode, then MP36 etc. I did something similar for MP Soundwave. ;)

TakaraTOMY are currently promoting a new line of transforming robots called Drive Head (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL7MbVUCgQU).

Differences between Drive Head & Transformers includes:
* The "body" of the Drive Heads need to connect to a regular car (Tomica - Tomy's equivalent of Matchbox or Hot Wheels cars). I suppose that they'd be able to carry regular Tomicas too, but they would need special Drive Head cars that actually have the robots' heads inside them. Didn't see any stand-alone Drive Head cars - so far it's just the Drive Heads that they come with. I guess they can do Cross Head On, didn't try it.
* Mecha are non-sentient. They're piloted by 10 year old police officers. Yes, the story premise is that stupid. :p

This isn't a Transformers pic, but just to give you an idea of just how different the Japanese view toy guns, I found these air soft/BB guns at a toy store at the Nakamise shopping arcade just outside Sensou Temple in Tokyo.

That's it! Now that I'm back home, all further pics of MP36 will be taken from strictly inside my home. But it was fun being able to openly carry him around in public where I was legally able to do so. :D

wow it has been a month with no photos! these aren't exactly very 'action-ey' but I thought I would have a go with a rubbish light box setup. or something. it's basically just a cut out cardboard box with some white cardboard as the background. I used two bedroom lamps for the light. there is probably some bleeding from outside coming in. I think the cones of the lamps also had a side-effect as well. in the default photos app on windows 10 I clicked 'enhance', it made them look a bit nicer. I tried a group shot but my setup was too small. *shrugs* it is something I've been wanting to try for a little while anyway, if nothing else at least is better than just sitting them somewhere in my room.

It's a shame and tad unexpected Takara didn't end up doing more toon accurate colors + extra finish etc for LG43 considering they have been doing it for pretty much every LG release to date, hence decided to add a little bit of paint to Full-Tilt & Headmaster to make it a little bit different at least

It's how I like to display him. I display my G1 MP Sideswipe in robot mode and G2 in car mode, but I also want to display the awesome accessories, so uh, yeah, G1 Sideswipe gets to have 'em. Also helps to make him look a bit more distinct from Red Alert. :)

I took a crappy photo a while ago and tried to get something out of it. I think a green background would have been a lot better than white which is all I had at the time, as Ramjet gets lost in it and it was hard to make the overall picture look better without screwing him over too much.

Thank you, it's all done with brush. A very, very fine brush. ;) The hardest part is keeping the hand steady.

BTW currently working on Studio Series BB, applying rust and weathering effects. It's coming along well so far, pics when it's completed.

Cheers, I looked up a tutorial on Youtube based on adding glow to Iron Man eyes and applied it to this guy. I'm not that great on Photoshop so I wasn't able to make it as bright a blue as I wanted, but for what it was, it's not too bad.

I had to add a couple of layers, one for each eye from memory and trace out the shapes then add the glow effects. I think I merged the layers before applying the glow effect.

If I had to recreate something similar I'd have to go back to the tutorials because there were a lot of steps involved and I only recall a fraction of them LOL.

I'd recommend looking at some greenscreen tutorials on how to remove the green tinge and effectively place your picture convincingly into the background.

Your pic of the flyers turned out pretty well still, I thought.

Thanks, I used Humbrol enamels, there is a colour conveniently named "rust". For the centre of rust spots I mixed in the rust colour, some dark grey and some black.

I also thinned the paints to help them blend into the underlying colours. I found that the best effect came from sponging on some thinned black and smearing it before adding the rust layers.

Not really 'actiony' as such, but I finally got around to assembling Volcanicus. All the negativity and hate had put me off even bothering, but I thought I'd give it a whirl.
Must say, I have been pleasantly surprised. Quite happy with this (tho obviously not without its faults). Not too shabby.

First config (Swoop + Snarl as arms) I think looks pretty clean, but second (Swoop + Slag as arms) is my preferred. Gives good forearm mounting for Sludge's gun (repurposed from TM Octone).
