Whenever I am on a train, I always stand up for the elderly and ladies. It's just manners I grew up with. I see it on the trains in Syndey especially when I see businessmen (and woman) sitting down looking away, as to not notice the elderly person standing up. I weep for the next generation of people when I become old and have to stand up because of this generation of people are assholes.

In the future, don't ride the train. RIDE A BIKE. OH YEAH EXTREME 1AZRAEL1 lol

And yes, more and more people are becoming self-centered, that used to frustrate the sh!t out of me too, but now I've just learned to focus on doing my own things and not stress over the stupidity of others.

And it turns out the line droppage issue had nothing to do with my line, it was dun dun dun - my netgear modem and craptastic router all along. I bought a Billion 7800N modem (which is apparently godlike) and it lives up its name - I HAVE A GODLIKE CONNECTION WHOOO!! Time to bring out my sledgehammer and give Netgear a good smashing!! OH YEAH!

That's a shame, but I'm glad to hear that you've been able to rectify the issue dude - Just a pity though that you've had to spend so much money on trying to.

I'm a little of 2 minds about this issue and just playing the devil's advocate here.

I'm all for giving up seats to the elderly, pregnant women or people that need it (ie: in clutches, feet in bandages, injured, any other kind of inconvenience).

BUT, I'm not so sure about giving up seats to women - which from a reading of the posts above would mean all healthy, able bodied women who do not fall into the class of people in the paragraph above.

While on the one hand it may be chivalrous to do so, on the other hand it could look like an insult from the woman's perspective. It is very possible that in this day and age where women in the Western world see themselves as equals to men, the woman may be asking herself the question - "why would this guy give up his seat for me? Does he think that I am the weaker sex? Does he think that I have some disability? Does he think I cannot take care of myself? Does he think that I need the seat because I am a woman". Possibly, she may just find it insulting.

If however, the women that we give up our seats for are friends of yours (or your gf/partner/wife) who you are out with you as a group, then it'd likely be looked upon kindly and be considered chivalrous.

    Just my 2 cents.

Sadly, I try, but they are always in my face in Sydney. Usually I get home and scream/sing which helps after a hard days work. Much better than drinking

killinspoon: straight after a break up I would recommend avoiding thinking about girls for a while. I wouldn't recommend looking for a new girl right now cos often shortly after a break up you're kinda rebounding... and hooking up with a new girl on a rebound usually isn't a good idea (unless ya know, you're a sucker for more pain).

So my advice to you is to just focus on other things in your life, and honestly enjoy the benefits of being single again. e.g. all your spare time and spare disposable income you can totally spend on yourself! So go indulge yourself for a while. Go play with your toys, hang out with your mates etc. - just try to distract yourself as much as possible and enjoy yourself. Don't think about when you'll be ready for a relationship again, just focus on yourself.

    Hope that helps.

That all sounds good, but I can't get love songs out of my head. It's making me more and more depressed
