This is a Pawn shop that supposedly specializes with vintage games and consoles. They are based in Cessnock NSW, near Newcastle.
I spoke on the phone with Roger, one of the people working there about buying an NES. I asked if the NES they were advertising was in good condition and if they shipped to Sydney. He seemed very personable on the phone and told me that the NES was in excellent condition, not yellowed and without any missing parts or anything broken off.
The next day I receive the console by courier which to their credit was a very fast delivery. Unfortunately the console inside was in the worse condition that I would have ever anticipated. From underneath all the vent grids were broken off and on top of that there was a huge hole big enough to fit 3 fingers through. All the corners of the console had been grinded round as if someone was scraping it against a brick wall. The front lid was some cheap repro that was blank and dind't even say 'Nintendo' so the whole console had an 'OEM/No frills' look to it. On top of that the controllers were yellowed and everything was dirty.
When I called to ask what's going on, he tried to make excuses that all NES consoles are in that condition due to age - However that's not what he told me when I made the order! After I mentioned that, he started with bad attitude that there was nothing wrong with it and that's when I asked for my Money back as I could not trust him to replace the console with something closer to what he originally promised.
He agreed to refund me including the shipping cost but given that he was deliberately deceitful in the condition of the console and hoping I would just roll over on it to avoid trouble, I am sceptical he will once the console reaches him. At least I paid by credit card so I could always take it to the bank and have a tracking number with the package.
