Yeah but do Pokemon fans find it fun to physically smash their Pokemon games or tear up the cards?? I mean... surely if you enjoy something you wouldn't destroy it, because then you can't use it anymore. Unless that person simply finds destruction to be amusing... simple things amuse simple minds. (-_-)

Here kid, have a bag of firecrackers...

Ironically, I did see a kid beg his mum to buy him a Generations Drift in TRU once. He wasn't successful - didn't give much of a fight but I could see the sadness in his eyes.

All of the broken transformers I own were done by me accidently in the last year.
I'm in the process of confiscating my sons toys because he can't respect his or anyones elses things. He can earn them back when he learns to respect them

...Whilst even simpler minds watch on.

I had a Year 6 Teacher who used that line as a catchphrase, that or Heads'll Roll.
She didn't take it too kindly when she said that to me in class once </Class Laughter> only for me to turn around when the laughter died down with the rest of the line </Class Oohs> to which she cracked a smile and asked where I'd heard that and I told her that it was my mother.

She said that my Mother was wise and that I has lunchtime detention.

Little kids are born to be bastards as they're born curious, they want to push the limits to whatever they do until they encounter a figure of authority they can't push. Smashing a toy is an example of that, they think it's fun to smash apart a toy because they're probably imagining it exploding and don't really care about the consequences until A) it's enforced upon them by their parents OR B) they realized they broke their toy and can't get a replacement.

I dunno... like I said, I never did that with my toys as a kid. Simply because it was blatantly obvious to me that if I broke my toys that I would no longer be able to play with it again. I guess that puts me in your category "B" -- but I wouldn't smash a toy to find that out. It was just incredibly obvious... same reason why I didn't go around running into walls or trees ya know. (-_-)

Kids do test their limits though... I wouldn't say it's because they're being "bastards" - it's just that children are born as moral/ethical "blanks" and testing their limits is part of how they explore what is "right" and "wrong"; or more accurately, what their parents will let them get away with. And thus it's part of a parent's job to set boundaries... your child is destroying property -- bloody do something about it! Teach them to respect property.

Speaking of respect for property... I know I've complained about some things about China (and there's a lot to complain about!), but I must say one thing I do like about China compared to Australia is that there is much, MUCH less graffiti here. My particular neighbourhood is covered in it.

Yep, anyone from the Illawarra will hear you on that one dude, the last 6-7 years have been ridiculous.
Whether it's fear or respect that keep them from doing it over there is anyone's guess, but I wish they'd adopt the approach over here.
