It's not something the people I talk to can answer if they want to keep their jobs, and so isn't something I press them on.
What could be said is that Myer is trying to be the home of Collector toys, so in combination with Myer's higher pricing policy, they are taking on products that are limited enough to warrant a larger profit margin (compared to a general release item that has more units, so can have a smaller, more competitive profit margin).

Unless you have a big gift-card and there's a sale on, you'll want to order all of these Platinum packs online.

With the 20% off, and the dollar weaker than it has been, it's about what you'd pay after shipping. It's definitely not 'good' value, but it's worth it if you want those moulds in that box now.

2 x Voyager = AU$90-100 (depending on the store)
3 x Deluxes = AU$75-90 (also depending on the store)
Total value = AU$165-190.... still less than the 20%-off price.


As for US prices at current exchange rate, comes to approximately...
2 x Voyager = AU$63
3 x Deluxes = AU$57
Total value = AU$120

The set is likely to retail for about US$100 in America, which after tax would be about AU$120 - less than half Myer's price, who are definitely looking to have "high end" collectable priced products in their stores. :(

As much as I'd love to support local stores and jobs, that's $100 I can spend on other things.

Found there's a Toyworld opened up again at Chadstone, but a clearance one. It's in the same location outside Target where there used to be a Toy Kingdom many years ago (like long enough ago that I bought Powermaster Joyride there).

No Jetfires, the only TF stuff they had were those Kreo buckets that Coles had, and some remote control TF:Prime cars that I think Big W sold.

Yeah they are KOs. Not sure if the TF ones are made to resemble Kreo but the Wolverine one is made to resemble the Lego minifig. Quite a few of these selling in ebay and in some gift shops. Plastic quality ain't great.

The Lego ones look the part. Some nice figs we don't already have, like Red Hulk. From what I've read they're alright. I'm not sure how these fair, considering the art isn't very realistic.

I went during the morning, they had a fair few second hand transformers out the back in their "garage sale" all with varying levels of completeness but all for very good prices.
Inside the actual store was all G1 stuff for much higher prices.

I need the actual retail prices from the stores for our reference guides and news postings, as it can vary by $5-10 between the store chains. (Toyworld, Myer & TRU often have Deluxes for $30 while BigW and Kmart have them for about $25)

Also spotted all four of them at Toyworld Docklands for the same price, which is a good price even those these guys are smaller than scouts and bigger than the old legends/new legions.

Wouldn't surprise me, seems that may be happening to a few toyworlds. In fact the watergardens toyworld is closing today after having already cut back their hours recently.

I went there yesterday and there was a note on the door saying "as of 14th of February we will be closing down and moving" I think they said to deer park but there's already one there so maybe I'm misremembering

Well I bought one. I looked at the cost of buying one from overseas, adding in the conversion rate and shipping fees, and it wouldnt come out too much cheaper (not to mention I'd have to order Armada Megs as well just to get him from BBTS they arrive or RK) and working retail in Aus I'll do what I can when possible to support smaller local stores. I can't afford to by everything I want locally (again because I work retail) but a once of figure like this, and the upcoming Ultra Magnus, sure I'll fork out a little extra. I'm probably not the only one.

Edit: I'm not trying to make that sound like an attack, just explaining my reasoning for spending the amount I did (and trying to justify it to myself)

Also, some people are willing to pay extra to be one of the first with a new toy... just see how some of those loose toys from the factory go for high prices if they are listed on ebay before they are found in stores.

Called pretty much every toy world store in victoria and no joy unfortunately, apparently some more megs are coming in soon though, but no definite dates.

Kmart will have them soon. It's pretty promising how quickly the CW stuff is selling from the limited release.

As long as we don't get stuck with the first wave. The Big W I visited on Saturday still has a centre aisle display full of wave 1 AOE deluxes and power battlers.

Unless the big stores over-order, I don't think that'll be a problem. The movie toys weren't that great, and the CW figures are much better overall (imp) - plus the whole combining gimmick thing means more will end up being bought as parents get nagged by their kids to complete the whole team.

Toyworld southland has robots in disguise deluxe strongarm and bumblebee for $31.99 each. Two step changer bumblebee and Grimlock for $42.99.

Toys r us chaddy has the combiner wars legends, rid 1-step and rid deluxes. Didn't notice anything new at kmart or target.

toys r us at knox westfield had the combiner wars deluxes, voyagers and leaders. i didn't notice the legends. they also had all the robots in disguise stuff too i think. i grabbed silverbolt and the deluxes but they had plenty of them there.

alternate words in bayswater had a pretty good selection of the IDW deluxes:

That's just the Promotional (introductory) pricing.
The email that went out yesterday with a number of different promotions has 3rd March at the top... so I guess that could be the end of the promotional period for the Generations toys.
