I know someone else was asking about if Sky Garry has been KO'd before and it should be no and as HD has pointed out, they are available and going pretty cheap.

I think it has been KOed, but it's a fairly obvious KO. This looks legit.

KO description here (http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/ds-reviews-ko-g1-sky-garry-t69331.php).

What the guy doesn't mention, is that the KO Sky Garry has a silver pattern on a red chest, whereas the official release has yellow on a black chest.

But I don't have the guy yet (I'll pick him up when I can find one for 50-75 rather than the 100-150 that ebay seems to ask for at the moment.

that's pretty tempting, for a moment. Looking at the list carefully, many pieces are actually missing key parts - eg: the number of parts missing from the Monster Pretenders and Decepticon Targetmasters almost make these pieces worthless (okay, worth very little) to have. Also the 1989 Ultra Pretenders which are really hard to come by, are missing all the key parts too; and so are the harder to find MMs.

It'd be a truly great lot if all the pieces in it were 100% complete....

The sheer volume of people claiming to have quote: 'Rare Items' is absolutely ridiculous IMO, this is a prime example.

At least he didn't have "rare" in the title and is only asking for $32.50 BIN. Bearing in mind that the retail price of Universe Galvatron was between $26.99 to $29.99 when it was released some 2 years ago, a $30 starting bid and $32.50 BIN does not sound unreasonable at all.

The aversion I usually have with people saying things are "rare" is when it also comes with an unrealistically high price tag - for example, "RTS Mindset MOSC RARE!!!" - BIN $300.

Also this seller did spend some time thinking a description which i thought was an interesting read "Arrogant, powerful and ruthless, GALVATRON has emerged to seize control of the scattered DECEPTICON forces. He has formed what was once a loose confederation of assassins and warlords and turned it into an army capable of threatening the entire universe. Rumors abound, but no one knows where he came from; they know only that he arrived, and swiftly crushed all opposition to his rule. Some DECEPTICONS hope another leader powerful enough to challenge him will emerge, but most are too afraid of him to even hope for someone better."

fairly though, I haven't seen one on a shelf in a while. i'd say it's pretty hard to find outside of either an online store, ebay or a shop that just found a box in their storeroom.

and being as unpopular as the figure was, it's probably not going to sell at that price anyway.

Yeah, no I realise (trust me I do), but even with the box it's not worth that much.

You know what, we might be seeing what we saw just prior to the '07 and '09 movies - an increased level of interest in Transformers jacking the prices back up. If that's the case, I'm glad there's nothing vintage that I'm particularly after.

I get sick and tired of people putting 'Diaclone' in auctions when they clearly don't even know what the word means. Like the one above, there are usually fifty auctions on eBay at any given time with Diaclone in the description for a not-at-all-Diaclone toy.

(With the exception of the Diaclone bit, I believe that Astro Magnum is possibly 'real', although I've not seen that slanty packaging before and the lack of close-up photos doesn't help.)

That's one way of getting the KO AFA graded (if it is the KO), as the packaging had most of the give-aways on it. And since the seller isn't showing the chest of the robot, we can't see if it has the KO version chest sticker either.

Maybe it's because garishly ugly coloured prototypes are less likely to be stolen and sold for extortionate prices on eB...

Well I don't normally collect Movie-verse either, but Shockwave's latest incarnation is about the only DOTM toy I want (besides Sentinel Prime).

As for price, it's slightly less than what RRP will be when it launches at retail in mid-May, so I can't really complain about the pricing to have it a month or so earlier. :D

hey Hursti, if there is one G1 Transformer that you have to get MIB, it's Soundwave. A MIB Soundwave is a thing of beauty. Try to get one with the Buzzsaw and Soundwave missiles still on sprue if you can. There is this squarish compartment carved into the foam (behind the Soundwave box art) that you can even put casettes in. That's what I did in my childhood days.

I know how dear Soundwave is to your heart and saw your Soundwave at our meet. Definitely worth getting. :D

Indeed, a complete MIB Soundwave with Buzzsaw, Styrofoam Insert, Instructions, Techspec Reader and Stickersheet is certainly what I'm after - If the missiles are still on their sprue, sweet!, if not? I wont be terribly bothered so long as they are all present and in good condition. ;)

As for that cavity in the rear of the Styrofoam insert, that might actually come in handy as it sounds like an excellent place to store a little Soundwave Decoy. :D

It's hard to say. It's a typical Dorling Kindersley book if you're familiar with them. It's written by Simon Furman at a time when Dreamwave was the only active G1 continuity, so it's skewed towards the comics. It's broad and haphazard and hits the various Transformers franchises somewhat like a pick and mix bar. It's worth a read and has some pretty pictures and would make a good coffee table book, but it has nothing you couldn't find on TFwiki or the web.

I've got a super mint G1 original Soundwave, but I'd love to get a MIB one too. So far, during my time as a seasoned hunter (:p) of vintage G1's, I've always felt Soundwave as being the only figure to never really fluctuate in price. Even the reissues feel like they stay at the same price. That's just me though...

Anyway, hopefully I'll see you in the Gen1 acquisitions sometime soon with Mr SW!

I've seen plenty of original G1 boxed Megsy's (decent ones) sell for around $150. There's enough going around for you to be able to bid on some auctions and find yourself a bargain eventually. I honestly think that if you do end up buying one from abroad, if you simply ask the seller to take megs out of the box and transform him into his pretty robot mode then you shouldn't have a problem getting it in. I got mine without a hitch, but then again the box and foam are so beat up and old, customs prob didn't want to open up the parcel and handle them, in case they turned into dust :p

If they go for more than the 18 I paid for them, that's great.

No idea how rare this is, but based on how high the bidding has reached with 3+ days to go - it must be something special.

For you G1 lovers, MIB VSZ Sunstreaker Skids & Buzzsaw Giftset (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Transformers-MIB-VSZ-Sunstreaker-Skids-Buzzsaw-Set-/160571829974?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2562d3aed6#ht_1138wt_905)

That is one of the early year G1 ultra rare giftsets - VSZ (it's the third VS release after VSX and VSY; and with Goodbye Convoy and Megatron giftsets, one of the rare early Japanese G1 giftsets (not counting any combiner type giftsets which are a lot less rare)).

By Japan standards, the VSZ is by far the rarest giftset (of the VS series), because it contains 3 toys that were never released in regular retail at that time. So the only way a Japanese boy/ girl/ collector could get any one of these toys is to get the VSZ giftset.

The one that the seller has for sale is in very good condition (too bad that the Buzzsaw/Skids weapons has been cut from the sprue, its one of the very few ways you can tell that the Buzzsaw/Skids parts you are getting originally came with the set; there should be 2 sprues)

Usually VS giftsets are sold with-very-tattered-boxes (for reasons not known to me). I came across 3 of these in Japan and the asking price is on the region of 90,000Yen and the condition and completness is not even as good as the set on eBay.

However, with that being said, I don't trust this seller overly much because too many of my Singapore and Malaysian friends either know of him or has had bad experiences with him. He is known to custom paint certain figures and then call them unreleased exclusives or unknown lucky draw item to cheap unwitting buyers (yes, has happened before, just check the TFW archives/threads).

Still, because his notoriety has not reached the ears of many (judging from the number of bids), I wouldn't be surprised if the set went for US$1200-1300.

No but I did watch them before they finished. One was $300 with 30 seconds to go and then suddenly its was $590+ by 10 seconds.

I don't actually want the giftset as it will go above what I can afford. Same as the Landcross set, only doing it for fun to see how long before I get outbid but as HD said it should go for about $1100 for that VSZ.

Currently I am bidding on 7 items that seller has for auction and honestly I only want the two insecticons. Also bidding on 2 Cyclonus, Landcross Giftset (outbid) and Botcon Japan Galvatron (outbid) but I am only having some fun with them and don't really want them.

Not suprised about the price jump. This is a dodgy seller like I said before. He has been around since before 1999. It will not surprise me if he has a number of accounts that has 100+ feedbacks and is just shill bidding his auctions (purely my suspicions though).

If we think about how long eBay has been around, its actually possible for veterans to have multiple accounts and each with a lot of feedbacks, make them appear legitimate (if they bid on their own auctions). Personally, I have an account with 500+ feedbacks and another 2 with 200+ feedbacks each (I use them for different things though, one for toys, the other 2 for my other businesses which i dont want to intermingle with toys). If I wanted to (not saying that I will), I could easily shill bid and no one would suspect a thing, especially with the current eBay system of not even showing the full details of competing bidders.

Didn't know you were after a Landcross giftset... I may be convinced to part with my C9.5 box, unused and complete one.... heh. Maybe we can talk about that later, together with TF-08 and TF-09.... :D:D:D

Unfortunately, that is more or less the market price for BZs nowadays. I saw one sell in HK for AU$5000 (it's MISB though). Sold within 5 hours of being put up in a store front.

For the one on auction, I'd pay $1500 to $1700 tops. Don't think I'd pay over $2000. It's in really great condition and I think mintier and more unused than mine (http://heroicdecepticon.blogspot.com/2010/06/masterforce-d-311-black-zarak-mib-part_28.html) (shameless plug, ahahahaa). :D

On the subject of public posts etc, is there a reason why this section is able to be viewed by the public?

IMO, posting here is to share interesting and rare eBay items with other members - if the public can view them, then it may result in someone out there bidding and winning an item that a board member was interested in.

ebay is publicly viewable so defeats the purpose of hiding ebay sightings, but if there is something interesting you only want to share with dedicated members, there are other parts of the board to do that.
I was just referring to store sightings of limited release items - which members will sometimes post about seeing without saying where the store was located (allowing trusted members to PM for exact details if it could be a target for scalpers).

No doubt, a staggering amount but it doesn't bother me because for as much as I'd really like a set of these and the accompanying figures, I'll never be able to afford them any time soon. :o
I wouldn't be surprised to see circa $700 for the boxed set and just shy of $400 for the loose. ;)

Ah! - So he's finally selling it?
That is a really stunning piece, considering it's to my understanding that it's technically a Custom KO.

He says he used a MP-03G Ghost Starscream and stripped the paint, so I don't think it's a knockoff. Impressive work, and interesting that HasTakTom are now doing the same thing with their new mid-scan toys.
