Hi, i'm new here...
I just won several figures from ni_jay1988, i know that he's very suspicious mostly because he don't have and can't provide real pics on his listings and the worst is his english is so bad, he can't understand what my questions are. I searched through the web and find out that only otca discussed about him.
Okay, so i paid the first item and waiting for him to give me tracking no. and after he sent me the no. I have spent 3 days trying to trace the shipping status but the website always says not found, i'm totally f*cked.

Looks like it.....where in Indonesia are you? When I was there last time some collectors told me to go to Bandung as that's the best place for buying.

Hi neeno, Welcome to OTCA. Probably best get ready to go through the eBay dispute resolution process as soon as possible - don't wait until he's withdrawn funds and closed his accounts. If he's an honest seller, it would probably give him a push to make some sort of effort despite the language barrier.

Just checked and he's relisted a whole bunch of would-be-expensive TFs priced at peanuts, so at least his bank accounts must still be open.

I'm in Medan, Sumatera. Bandung is quite a place for buying but Jakarta is the best, however the city is way too crowded, it took hours between places just to look for what you're looking.
When the time is right you can get cheap takara tf figures in Indonesia than any places. For example buster prime, aps-01 for around usd110, mp-11,mp-09 for usd90 in hobby shop called Multi Toys

Haha yeah we were stuck in a traffic for 5 hours one afternoon in Jakarta. Thanks when I go next time I might ask for some more places to visit. Good luck with resolving your ebay issue!

I tried to make dispute like this once with another seller, but stupid ebay won't allow it since it only been 5 days since i paid.
Besides even if i could do that, their automated customer service reply would tell me to wait for more days since they checked that seller has put tracking # despite my complaints. They won't even bother to check whether the# is legit. I have to go through 2 or 3 emails until ebay give personal responses. I guess they never read the first complaints.

hey Neeno, welcome to the Boards.

I go to Jakarta on business very often. I know how bad the traffic is. Typically, I can at best do 2 meetings a day, because it takes 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the other end of the city. The traffic is really horrid.

Are there places you can recommend for toys in Jakarta?
Any places sell vintage TFs?

PS: I'm usually at the Four Seasons or Kemang or Setiabudi. Plaza Indonesia is kind of near.

HD there is one place with several small shops in Jakarta for vintage items, but like HK the stores just seem to open when they feel like it. There was an awesome display of vintage GI Joe, He-man, TMNT and Transformers there better than anything I have seen - the owner is apparently from Bandung and has a shop somewhere there. I took some photos but they were a bit blurry as it was an old phone camera - actually I am sure I posted them in the sightings ages ago! I will look them up this weekend and see if I can find the address.

damnit. Should have asked around here earlier. In Nov / Dec, I was in Jakarta for 2 weeks and I 'thought' there was nothing to do but watch CNN at night.... sign. Argh.

Could you email me the address and photos by any chance?

Yeah sure - its in a mall that's off the beaten track a bit. Nothing compared to japan but would give you a break from CNN :p

Hi skullcruncher and heroic_decepticon,
Indonesia is not the right place to find vintage tf, from what i remember when i was a kid, we only had a few g1 imported here around year 84-86, and then we didn't have any until beast wars, and chug, movie. We didn't even have A/C/E since the cartoon never aired in television.
In the past 3 years,me & my wife tried to track leftovers from small stores which were selling them based on my memories when i was a kid.
But no such luck until now. You can get some vintage from Kampung Mainan at Blok M, southern jakarta but the conditions are far from good and pricey too.

But if you're looking for takara pieces for decent prices you can get them when there is a toy fair or get them at Multi toys kelapa gading or pondok indah mall, they seldom discounted their prices.
I will let you know about other stores. I need to ask my friend who lived there.

Yeah the guy continuously had good feedback increasing during the period of Transformers listings (when the listings were active his feedback score was 80 and now its 86). One of them was a giant plush teddy bear (my girlfriend was eyeing it!) that sold on a Friday, and then positive feedback was given the next day.

Just checked, here is another super suss feedback. 'Positive' feedback was given 30mins after the listing ended. Either these 'buyers' are really trusting or Chinese posties are that good.

So it looks like he just got the first lot of feedback from selling TFs and what a shock it is negative. The comment says 'fraudulent seller, ordered a transformer toy and got a Santa hat instead'

dafuq!!!
now i have to open a case

please advise on how to win the case (even if ebay usually side with buyers) considering that the seller gave tracking no. with different ordered item.
do we have to open Item not as described and send back the wrong item before receiving a refund but it would cost us more to ship junk back to china not to mention the time it would take before he receives and confirm to ebay.

or ebay would just buy it if i open case for INR and refund straight away?

Considering how long they've been around, and only had one negative feedback before this incident, AND considering they are refunding money with the claim that they will still send out the toys (leaving it up to the buyers to pay for it later if they want)... I get the feeling that it was probably just an unfortunate accident by someone else in their business, who boxed up the wrong items, or didn't know that a toy was to go into the boxes (if they saw a hat in each box and assumed it was ready to tape up and post).

A scammer wouldn't refund the money, and wouldn't still be on ebay selling hundreds of items, a year after they first started (http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/ni_jay1988/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25&_trksid=p3692). And their completed sales in the last three months have been 447 items (sold, out of 660 listed - that'd be a lot of work to scam a dozen people out of $47 each).
The amount of items being sold by this dealer would need at least 2 or 3 people to run... perhaps it is even an ebay account set up by an existing toy store in China.

If they are refunding money, it's not a scam... and if they still send the toy, it's sounds like some expensive damage control over a mistake by one of their employees.

That was crossed my mind, but it almost impossible to believe that every shipment has the wrong item sent. At least they must be one right item sent or in other words is there a member here who received the real thing from many purchases made?
hey, how come a seller with 447 items sold only received 90 feed backs?

From my experience buying from the Chinese sellers, mostly they are just the middle man, when we ordered something then items were sent directly from the different suppliers.
Maybe the reason why he refund is that he didn't expect this accident would happened and also being scammed by his suppliers.

If that's what happened i pity him, but i still want my money back. If he really want to resend the item, then just send it with an express mail to make up the mistake, no need to ask my permission. sometimes it is better to lose money than your face.

A lot of people don't do the feedback, either they don't care, they don't remember, they don't have the time to log in and find the right one, or the one I hear most often - they don't want to be the first to leave feedback, in case they don't get it back. Have you ever heard of other Chinese online sellers (Chimungmung, Robot Kingdom EhobbyBaseShop etc) sending out an item of clothing instead of a transformer collectible?

Some other points:

They refused to send any more pics of the item,

There is no other feedback for Transformers items despite having many listings,

Buyers leaving positive feedback within minutes of winning an auction.

Their feedback jumped from about 97.6% to 99% in the space of about 1 or 2 weeks.

Just too many discrepancies for me...

If per chance they do end up sending you the right item, make sure you pay back through eBay, it may also be an elaborate plan to evade eBay's seller fees.

I am pretty sure that Technically eBay owns Paypal. The problem is they nearly have a monopoly on ways to pay through eBay as a result, the pro is there are multiple ways to get a resolution through them.

could be, but most of sellers/stores, especially new one, care most about feedback, they would go into a hassle by asking you to leave a good one since it effected to their reputation and reduced fee from ebay.
in this case, the sellers struggle to bump his rep in 1-2 weeks and even begging buyers to revise the negative feedbacks.

in my opinion,
transformers is their first new field of sales, he might be has source of cheap goodies but not from their area, could be miles away so they can't check them properly. every shipment will be delivered straight from suppliers to buyers. maybe that's why they can't provide real pics, can't check the shipment since he also never receive products samples, but it's still a weak excuse at least that's the reason there is no feedback about transformers yet, until now, the suppliers f**ked up and sending santa hats, there goes the neg feedback.

bumping feedback is easy, ask your friend to buy from you, leave a good feedback, return the money to him, ebay fees is a small price for a nice feedback. but that's not acceptable

I typed the phrase "chinese ebay scam" in to Google and found some interesting results. Here is just one of many:

http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1725234

Note the recurring theme - buyers are sent something cheap & nasty instead of what they actually paid for. That way the buyer cannot claim "Item not received" and would need to ship the item back. The scammer is hoping that most people would not be bothered paying to ship back a Christmas hat or hair clip etc.

It is very similar to what has happened here with ni_jay88.

This is a scam pure and simple.

could be, but most of sellers/stores, especially new one, care most about feedback, they would go into a hassle by asking you to leave a good one since it effected to their reputation and reduced fee from ebay.
in this case, the sellers struggle to bump his rep in 1-2 weeks and even begging buyers to revise the negative feedbacks.

in my opinion,

yeah, i know, just dumb analysis, lol

His ebay feedback just went up again for selling die cast/rc cars minutes after being sold. So either he got a friend or another account to bump the rep.

I still got many left to make it below 80% in short time

okay, refunded 2 out of 8

I see a feedback about transformers received, but i have doubt that guy really receive the item, maybe he was refunded in exchange of positive feedback.

I guessed KO then. There seems to be a few floating around and some claiming they are not KO. Then you be question then why no box?

griffin
12th January 2014, 11:49 PM
Being from China, it could either be KO, or a factory worker selling loose figures.

Either way, they should be cheaper than that.

griffin
13th January 2014, 12:00 AM
Looking at their other items, they do note things that are KOs in the title... so these "could" be factory figures.

griffin
13th January 2014, 12:13 AM
One of their other items is a MP12J Gold Lambor (Sideswipe)... which some sites are listing as a KO. But it is a strange one to KO and then create a new letter designation (the J) and a golden box and biocard. It looks like it uses the Tigertrack box as a template, but is still a fair bit of effort for a KO.
Apparently only the car mode has the gold parts, so the robot mode is a mix-n-match of red and gold... which looks really bad.

I'd never buy anything from a China auction site or from a seller based in China, no matter how 'good' the deal sounds.

I may revise this principle in 5-10 years' time, but so far, I think its done me a lot of good and I have peace of mind and sleep better at night.

(I would similarly never sell or ship anything to a buyer within China).

Wow, Vintage transformers are great, but that's a hell of a lot of dosh for a single figure. It's sales like this that make me not even consider completing my G1 collection. I'll just stick to the odd loose vintage purchase and keep up to date with the current stuff I like.

For me, it will depends if this is a NEW toy or an old toy. I remembered I onced asked the person to break the tape seal and check the contents before sending the item to me. And he said "ah you are someone who will enjoy the toys and not just having them sealed."

I tend not to make a deal out of it as long as it is complete and nothing is broken.lately I gotten a new toy arrived with broken parts even though it was sealed. So technically MISB means jack all to me, its a 50/50 chance you have a broken toy.

I just find it sad that people start to make money grading toys where anyone can do it too. And seeing AFA had slip up, this shows how much creditability it has. You can grade 10 for MISB but can you assure me is grade 10 of the toy inside? What are the chances it may have a missing part?

If you're within 45 days (I think) you should be without issue.

Anything (pre-order, etc) that I haven't received, I open a dispute, explicitly stating to the vendor that I'm doing it to protect myself, and once the item arrives, I'll close it. If you've got a dispute open past the cut-off window, then you're still protected.

It is indeed very annoying for people to do such things. Although eBay does protect buyers and sellers, I feel eBay should play a bigger role in preventing this from happening.

I sold something on eBay and when I checked the buyer address he/ she listed Casino as a suburb. I called eBay immediately and told them it's a fake but they said they had to wait 10 days for response from buyer. I was like okay go ahead doubt buyer will response. True enough placement fee was refunded.

That's an amazing site. That guy has done a LOT of work. I just spent the last couple hours mesmerised by all the stuff archived there, and had to force myself away. :o

Too right he has and it is very hard to not become lost in its archives for hours huh? ;):p

Can anyone provided any information or history regarding this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VINTAGE-SOUNDWAVE-TRANSFORMERS-WATER-BOTTLE-/291065927781?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item43c4e19865)? - Is it a Drink Bottle, or a Bubblebath Container?

It kind of looks more like a bubble bath container to me, especially with the design of the lid.

2 sellers on ebay selling a heap of sought transformers.. mp thundercraker, skywarp, tiger tracks, smokescreen, all tfc 3rd part combiners, make toy stuff, igear cone heads.. heaps of stuff!!! they ran the auctions for 3-4 days refreshing and adding a few more each cycle.. even got a second chance offer which i didn't accept.

so basically they sent santa hats and not the won items. I just had a gut feeling it was to good to be true.. winning a full set of tfc Hercules for $130 on bid. feed back on the seller at first was not bad.. but it went up a bit more and came crashing down 72 negative feedback in a little over a week.. they are no longer on ebay.. both have closed their accounts. being that all parcels have the same return address from the 2 different seller just hightens the fact it was a scam.

Yes i should get my money back my loving girlfriend has ordered smokescreen from bbts.. i ordered prowl from chimungmung... would of been nice to get the rest of the seekers... oh well we live and learn:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

been there done that mate, we have talked about this scammer ni_jay1988 and lglg_zhao89 before. spent $800+ but all refunded and don't have to return the hats.
I still don't get it, why bother scamming people when buyers can claim and get the money back? the tracking numbers trick just won't work that well.

Because it's not the scammers that have to refund the money. It's ebay / paypal that have to pay out the unfortunate buyer. They keep the money and bail

Outside of ebay though, paypal protection is limited and there's no guarantee you'll get your money back in the event of a mishap

Yep. If the seller has cleaned out the money from their PayPal account and any linked credit cards or bank accounts, there's not much that can be done to recover the money.

Have to disagree with you there. I purchased from one of those eBay sellers (ni_jay1988) and as soon as I left negative feedback the SELLER refunded my money not Paypal.

Voluntary refunding by a seller in fear (of something), is different to what whoopass was referring to - a refund AFTER an ebay investigation, by which time the scammer is usually long gone, so can't be forced by ebay to pay out the refund. (so it has to come from ebay itself)

I thought he was referring to the recent eBay scam done by ni_jay1988.

I was one of the people who received a santa hat instead of a transformer but the seller then immediately gave me a refund when I left negative feedback.

My question is why? I could understand the scam if they closed their account immediately and ran off with the money but to hang around and give the buyer an immediate refund?

I also got a refund on 2 of the 8 items i "Won" i think if the seller got too much negative feed back the claims would snowball in which in the end did happen. The trick worked on me i explicitly asked the seller if he was resending the items and he said yes... but when it came to updating tracking number they stopped replying to any emails.. clearly they have done a runner and my 6 claims are still pending. I do hope paypal covers me, I also hope these people rot in hell for what they have done. From what i was told by Paypal they typically dont go after scam sellers for legal action.

Yes, kinda. It was a lot of three, and I only need two, so would have been stuck with a spare that won't sell here too well (they might command $100+ in America, but are only worth $20-40 here because they were released here). Also, they are like a KO Road Caesar that can't even combine, so unless you are a completist, you'd spend those several hundred dollars on the JP combining version.
Also, the red one in that lot has sticker issues, which I wouldn't have been happy with. Especially if I was going to end up paying over $100 each for.

That (hopefully) is the one several years ago that sat on ebay for a while, because no one wanted it with a wheel missing.
Hopefully... because if there was more than one, that would be a shame, for such a rare figure.

It's also missing half of the BotCon label on the back - the bit that actually confirms that it is a BotCon version, instead of one that was released at one or two other conventions that year.
(I waited quite a few years for one to show up that had the BotCon label on the back, just to prove that it was one of the 294(?) that were released that weekend)

Looking at their completed listings, it's the second time they've listed it at US$150... which makes it sound fishy that it hasn't sold yet.

That seller has quite a few cheap (nice) items listed. Maybe he forgot to put them as auctions instead of BINs.
A bit strange... but they've been an ebay member for 12 years, and heaps of positive feedback.

It'll be real. One can get a sealed Lucky Draw Animated Megatron with paperwork for about $200, so that's arguably overpriced for a loose one without papers.

griffin

So many lucky draws out there now, that they aren't worth as much anymore, or did they produce a lot of that one?
There were 100 of the gold Rodimus figure, and they go for more than a grand.

I believe there were 1104 Lucky Draw Animated Megatrons made. So there's the fact that there are eleven times as many around, plus a G1 Primus toy is something a lot of people want. A gold Cybertron-mode Animated Megatron, not so much.

1104... that's a lot for a Lucky Draw or Golden figure, and an odd number too.

There were 1000 prizes, but they made 92 cases of 12 toys, so the 104 leftovers would have gone to staff at TakaraTomy/Sega/Paramount and then maybe some might have been used as store displays. And one ended up as that eBay auction!

This seller has been selling the blue translucent Bumblebee Kreons (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-TRANSFORMERS-KRE-O-ENERGON-BUMBLEBEE-RARE-MISB-/261404676300?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item3cdceed0cc), from Malaysia. Since mine just arrived, I saw on them a Hasbro Malaysia sticker on it, so even though they were originally handed out at NYCC 2012 by Hasbro (making them rather expensive to buy online until recently), these look to now be given out somewhere in Malaysia.

The total cost is about US$19 with shipping, which was worth it for me to complete my Kreo and Kreon collection... but I actually got two sent, making them about AU$10 each shipped.
The listing says 2x, but also lists that 2 are available for purchase, so I just assumed that the guy doesn't have good English, and was just referring to the two lots for sale on the one listing.

So now I have a spare, which is for sale in the Saleyard if anyone in Brisbane wants one.

US$400 sold with Buy-it-Now (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Transformers-Rescue-Bots-HEATWAVE-BLADES-BOULDER-MEDIX-HOIST-CASE-Very-Very-Rare-/161178150187?pt=Pretend_Play_Preschool_US&hash=item2586f7652b)... for just 6 of them in packaging, but includes Hoist & Medix.

It's Ramjet, i've had a standing search for it for over 2 years, I saw one ages ago sell for about $50, which I thought was a bit rich. I've seen a couple go for around the $100 to $110 mark in the last 6 months or so. I haven't seen any sell since then. the few that are on there at the moment have been there for ages.
I really want it, but it's a repaint of a toy I've already got several versions of, I might crack if I see it as low as $50 again. I have it on my "keep an eye out list" for Botcon.

It's so hard to tell the difference between them if not in person... so I'm thinking the wrong-shaped spoiler-tip might mean it was a KO.
It might be why it ended up going so cheaply, as people might not have wanted to risk paying more for the fake version (which goes that high due to the demand created by the 3rd party accessory set).

This seller makes a habit of selling loose official figures, probably nicked from the factory or the reject bin. so I'm going with either upcoming official figure in some capacity (maybe the mystery 7th subscription figure) or as suggested something already relesed in bad light. thing is it looks brown to me.

At least his photos are always really clear, so it isn't bad light - it's definitely brown and silver, and the other colours on it are quite clear.
I just remembered what I noticed yesterday... the Decepticon symbol is red, so it's definitely a Mirror-verse figure, so odds are it is a Fun-Pub or Ehobby exclusive.

Does anyone remember offhand, if Mirror-verse Rumble or Frenzy are brown?

Never mind, I just looked it up - Frenzy is apparently Eject's colours (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Frenzy_%28SG%29) (dark blue), and Rumble is thought to be Rewind's colours (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Rumble_%28SG%29) (black) but the only frame shows him surrounded by fire, so he looks brown.

Maybe it's Shattered Glass Enemy... for ultimate obscurity. :p

The only thing we can surmise is that Hasbro does not put locks on their factories :p

Just because I don't want this thread to be filled with another bunch of people complaining about things like Santa hats, please don't bid on any of these: http://www.ebay.com/sch/wangmenglin0315/m.html?item=221396709323

Thanks for the heads up, even though I'm not in that market at the moment. The seller history isn't particularly great, 6 sales.

interesting to see if this seller exists in 6 months or even 2 months.

The Santa hat thing was rather amusing. I had a mix of feeling sorry for them and a "Well what did you expect???" attitude. I mean one guy spent hundreds of dollars

The thing about the people going for these ones is that they're bidding $300 on the same "Custom" listed three times, described as "Brand new and unopened" from a seller in China with a feedback rating of '3' from six $1 items. If these are serious bidders (and they look to be from their own feedback scores) then I own potplants with higher IQs.

And then in a couple months time, after they've got their thousands of dollars and shut down that account, they'll be doing it all again, knowing how easy it is to make quick bucks of some of these rare and/or expensive toys in our fandom.
(in other words, it's never going to stop under the current ebay registration, payment and dispute processes, and my advice as always is never buy from someone new, or with a very small or zero feedback score, especially from China... but it applies everywhere though)

That's disturbing - it could be a warehouse find, a new knockoff or some scamming sellers. As someone with a MISB original, I'm not a big fan of this development.

That page.... that's not in the final book is it (at all I mean not just corrected colours)? From memory, Autobots pull in and kid is excited, then Kup trips Galvatron out the window, then Galvatron's lands and Autobots transform... then Decepticons flee and then happy Autobots...?

It was meant to be the cover, but - possibly because of the colour-swapping - they reused the image from page nine instead. So I'm pretty sure it's been unseen and unused all this time.

Interesting. Doesn't the Wheelie book released with the Car Show Blow Up, also reuse interior art for the cover? I wonder if there's a lost page of Wheelie's out there.

The Wheelie book's art (besides flesh-coloured armour-bikini wearing Arcee of course) is great and is the reason I don't hate the G1-era character as much as everyone else seems to.

Wheelie is BAD ASS and this book should be his origin and the basis for all his incarnations.

I think there is a Machine Wars Soundwave and Sandstorm in there, also an Energon Mirage at the back behind Rhinox, and that Blast-off repaint of the Energon combiner tank (can't remember if it was Universe 2.0 or Movieverse, I think it was different in one region).
One of the bikes is from the Cybertron line, the green one is from ROTF.

I rescind my previous statement. I won't be bidding on this auction (saving for a trip to the US in July for a wedding) so if anyone else is watching it/bidding on it, best of luck. It would be a lot that you could turn a profit on very easily.
