Don't forget that there is a regular 3-step Optimus (the size class that is about $50 and has Bbee, Grimlock, and Steeljaw later) which is red and blue, while this Mega 3-step is at about $70 and is red and black.
I don't know if the regular 3-step has arrived here yet as it is wave 2, and we don't get too many collectors of gimmick toys to get too many sightings of them, or recognise the different ones.

I just don't understand this price. How could they possibly price them that high? What parent would ever spend that much on such a simple toy for a child? I get the reasons for simplification of transformation etc, but these prices are just incomprehensible.

While I'm sure the profit margin on the retail price for these things is massive, I think you'd be surprised at the amount of engineering that goes into making these types of transformers work well every time. apart from the internal complexity that reduces the external complexity, they also need to have ways for the mechanism and structure to yield when it's pushed too hard in the wrong direction so it wont break leaving dangerous parts, and preferably so that when forced back to where is should be it will still mostly work if then used properly. Designing all that in takes a lot of time and development time costs money.

Nah, last time I was there I didn't see any of the 2 packs. The only 2 packs I saw were the Bumblebee and whatchamacallit dog transformer thingy :P (I'm more focused on the 2001 Robots In Disguise at the moment instead of the 2015 one) but it was $25 :eek:
Oh well. Better wait till it's on sale before I grab one of them.

TRU wasn't much better. They still have some wave 1 CW and 1 Offroad. They did have Platinum Insecticons and Blaster/Perceptor but they were going for $150 and $200 respectively.

I told her it was at the transformers section and went to make payment. Later she came to ask me to show her where it was as someone had called multiple times to ask them to put one on hold for him. Target Charlestown had Wave 1 and 2 of RID Warriors, those minicon deployers (Drift and Fracture), the Skywarp/UM/Cliff legends amongst usual stuff.

Shelves are getting stripped quickly, two Stunticons with comics were on http pegs at Blacktown Kmart, but not a protectobot limb to be seen.

Nothing at all at Kmart mt Druitt, just three robot heroes figures and a few one step changers to go with the giant bumblebees.

Target Blacktown didn't even bother putting the transformers in the toy section, only in the overflow area, does not bode well for post sale. Don't bother with Blacktown big w either.

Target st marys had a good and fairly untouched toy section but nothing worth reporting unless you like tf4 junk or the RiD sale items.

Pretty pathetic quarter for tf fans.

Target Parramatta has CW Silverbolt, "Armada" Megatron, a lone G1 Megatron and all the usual RiD stuff. Be warned their Transformers section is currently in transit so has no actual shelf atm, it's all on moving trolleys.

Was at Toys'r'us Supa Centre (Moore Park) yesterday.

They had the most TR MPs I've seen in a while, MP-22 Ultra Magnus, Mp-24 Star Saber, MP-04 Prowl, MP-06 Bluestreak .. no Bumblebee though :(

They also had Platinum reissue Blaster/Perceptor and also Insecticons.

Also keep in mind the AU$ is now circling the 70 US cent drain... so if this was a year ago, those probably would have been about $200 & $130 before a sale. Which would have made it good value for the coneheads.

at $130 I would have jumped on the coneheads, but regardless of the reason for them being $200 it's just so much to pay for something that is so simple and lets be real, 3 copies of the same thing.

and I totally agree with your comment about the yotg toys. The Prime is very heavy, If it were in original or modernised colours and closer to the $150 mark I might think about it for curiosities sake but in those colours I don't think I'd bite for anything over $20.

Reject Shop at East Gardens have heaps of them, Grim, Optimus and bee.... and my god, they are ugly and I couldnt bring myself to buy them. Voice for prime is not Peter as well.

The sword looks ok, but not worth getting a flaccid sword.
